I think if the murderer were a resident of Great Waters law enforcement would have them arrested by now.

As for cars entering in multiple numbers at the gate, those could have been GBi, FBI, or local law enforcement. I bet the neighborhood is crawling with uncover agents as we type.

I truly wish I believed the same, but sadly, I don't, Hickory. I have followed so many cases over the decades that I cant begin to recall them all, but one thing has stuck with me and that is the wealthy are treated differently even by the police when it comes to investigations. They too get caught up in affluenza.

Even though I think Sheriff Sills is a fine honest man I think he may have too much of a personal attachment to this particular case. It is only reasonable that many who lives in this community are politicians, lawyers, doctors and CEOs of large corporations. He probably knows a lot of them personally.

If this case is solved it will be done by the FBI and the FBI profilers who have no emotional attachment to the community or the people living in it.

No one would know all of these things or having any more knowledge about how to carryout these horrific crimes than someone who lives right there.

And I do believe they are there. Hiding in plain sight and could be the least likely person to suspect.

Unfortunately, neither wealth or prestige stops someone from being a sociopath. They live anywhere and everywhere and come from all walks of life.

So I am convinced until I hear Sills say otherwise that we are dealing with a sociopath that resides with someone who lives right where it happened.

All the other motives don't make sense and are way too complex. Like a mafia hit or a drug cartel or even the motive they would kill these elderly people because their son was murdered over 14 years ago.

This was done because the perps had the opportunity and knowledge they needed to carry it out undetected. And no one would have more opportunity or knowledge than someone who lived right there.

Me too! I'm a member of the Red Neck Yacht Club!

You making fun of my houseboat?

Lol... just kidding

Seriously, though I bet residents were none too pleased to hear about non functioning cameras.

Also, the greens were just redone in the last year.... with sod. That seemed to make some members angry. Reconstruction on the greens would bring in a LOT of work men.
Mr. D walked a lot. I wonder if he befriended one of them.

Maybe they took the head because there was a wound on it that would make it easier to trace to the perp. It is much easier to transport and dispose of a head than an entire body. As for kidnapping the wife, the same principle applies. Maybe they realized they would have two bodies to dispose of so they took her alive and killed her where she wouldn't be found right away. I'm sorry to sound so grim.

I wonder if the family or associates of the person who murdered their son in 2000 have been located and checked out. It has been 14 years...long enough for someone who was just a child when the killer went to prison to grow up and extract revenge. I have no idea if the guy had kids or not or even if his family bears a grudge.

bbm: Speaking of that: The document someone linked that orginally clued us in that the Dermonds might have had a son who was murdered (and, of course, we found out later that is indeed so) mentions the names of several persons (in addition to the shooter) connected with the incident. Though we can't openly sleuth those folks without a good (mentioned in MSM, I guess) reason -- and certainly can't point fingers at them -- it might be not be a bad idea to do a bit of private looking...just to see if anything might be helpful.

I've been meaning to do so and just haven't had a chance. Here's the link to the document again:

So how do you sell a home without advertising?

Heck, if I had $35,000 for a darn membership fee, and paid over million for my house, I'm doing what I want on my land! No wonder I don't live where there's a HOA. I'd be kicked out the first week! boots, you and I will just have to keep our chick a luckers, and other animals, and stay where we are! Nah, I couldn't live like royalty, it would severely crimp my lifestyle. :D

I'm not lined up with your theory, ocean, but unless LE has strong leads in another direction, I imagine it's being looked at pretty closely. I'm sure attendees at the vigil were being carefully observed. Sad it has to be that way, isn't it?

Imo, we are looking at the works of a sociopath. Sociopaths never murder or leave their victim in typical ways. Each one creates the horror they want to carryout. Iirc, Gary Hilton cut the head off of his victim and separated the distance between the body and the torso by about a half a mile.

Also at 17 years of age Austin Siggs decapitated and dismembered Jessica Ridgeway.

And there was another case where a group of older teens lured a man in order to murder him. They also cut his head off and put it in a bucket and place it in a different place from the rest of his other remains.

All of these killers have one thing in common, IMO. They are all murdering psychopaths/sociopaths.

This wasn't a hit by the mafia or a drug cartel or to get back at the Dermonds for anything, imo.

This was planned and carried out to satisfy the sadistic mind of the sociopath who wanted to do it this way.

IMO

Think of the subdivision as your finger sticking out into the lake. All the land past your knuckle is owned and operated by the developers and there is only one small road into it with a 24/7 manned guardhouse at the entrance. After that point, the "road" becomes a smallish lane that branches into other small lanes that meander around and up and down hills.

The entrance to the subdivision is also miles and miles from the closest main road (Ga. 44) where there are shops, restaurants and places where you might be able to get away with loitering.

Even if there was the slightest chance (which there isn't) you could come on foot past the entrance, why not stop at the first empty looking house? The Dermonds are a loooong ways into the subdivision and their 1.2 million house is probably just middle of the pack there.

There is simply no way you would be at Great Waters unless you lived there or had business there. No one could simply 'wander' onto the property in any way, shape or form.

And (how do I put this delicately?) if you are a minority, you better be towing landscaping equipment behind your truck (or be Herschel Walker ).

My opinion then:

It is unfathomable to think that someone chanced upon them. Given that, they were targeted. No reason at all to go there unless they are targeted.

And since you can get on the lake at a gazillion places and then glide right up to their back door, Occam's razor tells you that's how they came.

My thoughts as to motive lies either back in N.J. (but it seems too long ago for me) or is vengeance and/or "sending a message" to a surviving family member.
I enjoyed reading your reply, thanks very much!

If you listen to the last 5 minutes in the presser (pg 32) you will hear Sheriff Sills answer the question about surveillance cameras.

Reporter asks - the surveillance video was working are you looking through it?

Sheriff -we are trying to determine that now.

Reporter-so we do not know if cameras were working?

Sheriff- We do not know.

(But we heard early into this case they were not working)

Oh, I don't expect anyone here to agree with my theory, Backwoods.:floorlaugh: It just my own opinion/theory, but one I am going to stick with until shown otherwise.

It makes much more logical sense to me than any of the other wild complex theories about drug cartels, mafias, and getting even with these elderly people when neither one seems to have done anything wrong in their entire lives. Everyone that has spoken out that knows them have had nothing but wonderful things to say about them. I think they speak the truth. I think they both were fine upstanding law abiding citizens their entire lives.

I have seen Sheriffs like Sheriff Sills all my life since I was born in Georgia and have lived here all my life. I don't think he has a clue who the possible suspect could be. And IMO that may be because he is looking in the wrong place. Often in crimes just like this the suspect was someone right from inside the community where it happened.

IMO, if he solves this ..........it will turnout to be someone from that community like is often the case. In fact I bet the FBI profiler is telling him he needs to look for someone that would know all the factors that would need to be known to carry this out. Someone VERY familiar with the layout of the RP.

Now sure it could be a stranger murderer because strangers have done the most gosh awful horrific things to the victims they targeted that they didn't even know. But to me that means they had to know all the ends and outs of this place and for the guards to not even notice them being around.

IMO

I know this is gruesome, but I keep thinking about the sheriff saying there was no blood spatter & he didn't believe Mr. D was actually killed in the garage. I just don't get that part. So the perp killed him somewhere else & then took his body back to the garage?? That doesn't make sense to me. The cadaver dogs didn't hit anywhere else on the property. So where was he killed?? And how did they get him back to the garage? Maybe I'm missing something.

It would not surprise me if it was someone from the community, as they might be meticulous, and living in that community adhering to the HOA I would think someone would have to be regimented, or disciplined in some respect, and leaving the body as it was is not giving a lot of clues, unless of course LE knows more than what they are telling the public, which often is the case.
IMOO.

I pretty much agree with your assessment of the Dermonds.

I'm also a a native Georgian, and I have seen a range of all kinds of Georgia sheriffs, believe me.

Sills readily admitted, seems to me, that he needed help with this case, and he sought it early. So if the FBI is giving him tips along the lines you feel likely, well, IMO, he deserves some credit for seeking that assistance out.

I'm not entirely sure that we KNOW where the cadaver dogs hit...? (But maybe I'M missing something.) Sure would like to know!

I'd also like to know if maybe luminol has turned up anything interesting.

Cadaver dogs -
Do we know for sure where cadaver dogs did and did not alert? A link, pls?

Did LE bring in dogs trained to trail scent of a living person, e.g. Mrs D.?
Link, pls?

Sorry that I've missed the links.
Thx in adv. :seeya:

It could be as simple as Mr. Dermond being killed outside the garage and then dragged inside.
