Ghislaine Maxwell will not be moved to general jail population, prosecutors say

Lawyers for the longtime associate of Jeffrey Epstein claimed she was being held in “uniquely onerous” conditions.

Federal prosecutors said in a court filing Thursday that the Bureau of Prisons has no plans to move Ghislaine Maxwell, longtime associate of Jeffrey Epstein, into the general population of the New York City jail despite her lawyers’ claims that she is being held in “uniquely onerous” conditions.

Attorneys for Maxwell, who is being held without bail while awaiting trial for allegedly recruiting and grooming girls for Epstein to abuse, said she was being subjected to round-the-clock surveillance and numerous body scans...
So touching....
I'm crying....

Rickshaw, i'm a little surprised your friend got hit so hard from that...... i thought that might fall under whatever that designation is where they say you are in same social circles...... but 3 years difference is pushing that. and it would help if alot if the 19 year-old was a minor himself.....

people need to be careful about stupid, spur-of-the moment stuff.. that "sex offender" status is a horrible thing to have for your entire life

Prince Andrew has been pictured alone as the rest of the Royal Family took on royal duties to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the victory over Japan.

Andrew was pictured today driving from Windsor Castle, alone, while his brother Prince Charles led tributes to the war dead at National Memorial Arboretum.

Today, he was seen appearing to hum a tune at the wheel of his Range Rover while his brother paid his respects to those who died during WWII, at the Victory over Japan memorial.
Prince Andrew's last appearance, earlier this week, showed him enjoying a horse ride at Windsor Castle in blistering temperatures.

Yesterday, the chief of the Metropolitan Police has offered to assist US authorities with their investigation into Prince Andrew's ties to and Maxwell.

Dame Cressida Dick said that while the focus of the investigation was 'clearly' in America, she added the Met would assist US authorities should it be required 'at any stage'.

Ah yes, jolly good of the Met to offer assistance to the American LE, after Scotland Yard destroyed all of the security detail records pertaining to PA. Keep covering up and carry on!

Epstein victim alleges the financier showed her off to Trump at Mar-a-Lago when she was 14, lawsuit says

A victim of accused child trafficker Jeffrey Epstein has claimed the financier brought her to Mar-a-Lago to show her off to Donald Trump when she was just 14 years old, according to a new lawsuit.
“Doe also claims Epstein introduced her to Donald Trump at Mar-A-Lago when she was only 14 years old,” The Daily Beast reported. “’This is a good one, right?’ Epstein asked the future president, who allegedly smiled and nodded before sharing a chuckle with the depraved hedge funder.”
This lawsuit does not accuse the sitting president of any sexual misconduct with the victim, but it does raise the question of how much Mr Trump knew prior to Epstein’s arrest.

In 2002, Mr Trump gave an interview with New York Magazine where he praised the financier and his relationship with him.

“I’ve known Jeff for 15 years. Terrific guy,” he said. “He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.”

Regarding the discrepancy between Clinton's assertion of 4 trips with JE and logs that show 26 individual flights... Wouldn't a single trip involve multiple 'individual' flights, like the humanitarian trip where they went to Ghana, Nigeria, Rwanda...? During 1 trip, they visited 5 Afr. countries, with America as their start/end point. That'd be at least 6 individual flights, ya?

GM's lawyers said her chance of a fair trial on criminal charges she aided JE's sexual abuse of girls could be destroyed by substantial negative publicity if a deposition she gave four years ago were publicly released.

The lawyers made the argument, asking the 2nd US Circuit Court of Appeals to reverse a lower court judge's order to unseal the deposition and other documents.

They said, "If the unsealing order goes into effect, it will forever let the cat out of the bag," warning that "intimate, sensitive, and personal information" about GM might "spread like wildfire across the internet".

Her lawyers also said an unsealing would cause irreversible and unconstitutional negative publicity and undermine the "truth-seeking function" of her trial by leading witnesses to "recast their memories of events from decades ago".

Oral arguments are scheduled for September 22.

The trial is scheduled for next July and she would not be required to testify.

Release of Ghislaine Maxwell's deposition would jeopardise chances of fair trial, lawyers say

Oh my gawd I'm so worried about Maxwell's future trial....I'm crying :D:D

A federal judge has denied GM's request to be moved to the general prison population, saying changes to her confinement are unnecessary at this time.

The judge also rejected her earlier request to modify prison surveillance, which she claimed involved being secretly watched by prison psychologists for several hours every day.

In denying that request, the judge said that she "has provided the Court with no evidence, and no reason to believe, that the surveillance measures are motivated by improper purposes."

Prosecutors are required to provide written updates every 90 days about any significant changes to her confinement, according to the order.

The judge also rejected her request to learn the identity of the three accusers in the indictment, saying it was premature.

The MDC rolled out the orange carpet for Maxwell’s defense team Friday, allowing them what sources said was the first in-person federal jail visit in the city since the start of the corona virus pandemic.

While the Bureau of Prisons declined to answer whether she was the first federal inmate in NY to receive a visit, they said, “While, in general, legal visits are suspended, … We are facilitating attorney client-visitation, as well as judicial proceedings, via video conference, primarily at our detention centers.”

A Brooklyn Federal Court lawsuit over legal visits at the MDC indicates that as of last week in-person meetings had not yet resumed. A lawyer involved in the suit over attorney-client access, believed Maxwell was the first to receive a legal visit. He said, “It’s frankly outrageous. It’s also colossally stupid. The reaction is entirely predictable. There’s two systems of justice: One for friends of the President, one for everyone else”. Another lawyer with clients at the MDC who could face the death penalty said, “I’m incredulous really that she was the first one when there are those of us who have been waiting for nearly six months to have an in-person visit with our clients. It’s heartbreaking, actually.”

Madam Maxwell has been behind bars for less than two months and was permitted to have two of her lawyers visit for nearly four hours.

If that doesn’t grind your gears, the next bits certainly will.

* She has a whole jail floor to herself.

* Before she arrived, other women inmates had to clean and polish the floor three times so it would be ready for her.

* She also gets an extra hour of recreation time a day. During her rec time, the other women are locked out of the recreation area and they can see her jogging in the outdoor space.

These exceptions are uncalled for. She deserves the same treatment as everyone else who is in there. Not a good message to send from the court systems.
