At the press conference, Audrey Strauss, acting US attorney for the southern district of New York, said of Andrew: 'We would like to have the benefit of his statement. Our doors remain open. We would welcome him coming in and giving us an opportunity to hear his statement.'

Last night the threat of a legal move in this country was still hanging over the prince. Sources confirmed a special legal request sent to the UK by the US was still being processed.

A specialist unit of civil servants within the Home Office is considering Washington's application for so-called 'mutual legal assistance'. This could potentially lead to Andrew being required to give evidence in a British court regarding Epstein's activities.

They said Maxwell had groomed three underage girls for abuse in London, New York, Florida and New Mexico between 1994 and 1997. She was last seen ten days after Epstein's suicide.

US lawyers pile more pressure on Prince Andrew after Ghislaine Maxwell's arrest | Daily Mail Online

Alan Dershowitz has lost an audacious legal bid to gain access to a trove of confidential papers naming some of the Epstein's closest associates.

The top secret documents are part of a historic defamation case that Virginia Guiffre brought against Epstein’s alleged madam and facilitator, Ghislaine Maxwell.

The cache is subject to a long-standing protective order but attorneys for Dershowitz argued that it contains depositions and materials crucial for his own defense as he battles Giuffre in a separate, ongoing defamation case.

Senior US District Judge Loretta Preska turned down the Harvard professor's request this week saying he had not presented 'an extraordinary circumstance or compelling need' to overturn the 2016 protection order made by her deceased predecessor, Judge Robert Sweet.

She also criticized the sweeping nature of Dershowitz's demand for 'all filings and discovery materials' relating to the 1,000-plus dockets filed in the Southern District of New York in the Giuffre-Maxwell case.

All these sleazy people have several things in common. They’re rich, powerful and depraved.

Dear @JudgeJudi,

Audacious is a good word describing Dershowitz's legal bid. Thankfully it was unsuccessful!

Here is a BBC interview with Alan Dershowitz: ( includes his meetings with Prince Andrew as well as Dershowitz explaining that he only met with Epstein "academically" on the island and all of the other Epstein homes. Then the relationship became lawyer-client)

At

one lawyer says "and let's just hope that she survives next week and doesn't unfortunately meet an accident"

The Ghislaine Maxwell I know | Spectator USA

Like every other arrested person, she must be presumed innocent

Alan Dershowitz

Yes, she's innocent until proven otherwise in a court of law. As for AD, he's one of the accused. How can he say he knew her when he says, "We knew her only as Jeffrey Epstein’s thirty-something girlfriend." He spent a good chunk of an article about GM pushing back against VRG.

And they are colluding.

Does anyone really think Dershowitz wasn’t going to share these documents with other possibly involved men, some of whom might be politicians?

It looks as if Alan Dershowitz is practicing what he preaches in getting defense stories out in the media.

From the (below) article:

"He also understood, before most of his peers did, the value of deploying the media. As he wrote in his 2013 memoir, “Taking the Stand,” “If you don’t have the law or legal facts on your side, argue your case in the court of public opinion.”"

“The rule of law requires that we distinguish between sins and crimes,” he said. “There’s no federal crime that says that it’s illegal to lie to the media.”

In my opinion, for every one news article about the charges against G.M. we may see 10 from Dershowitz et al.

In the (above) article, Dershowitz (interestingly named Devil's Advocate in the title) says:

“The rule of law requires that we distinguish between sins and crimes,” he said. “There’s no federal crime that says that it’s illegal to lie to the media.”

(Also, it's revealed in the article that it's okay to lie but that your mother could address it as a lie):
Dershowitz describes his early life as an ideal preparation for conflict. He grew up in an Orthodox Jewish household in Borough Park, Brooklyn, and has written that he often got into fights with Italian kids in the neighborhood, “though I don’t recall getting anything worse than a few deep cuts, several broken teeth, and one concussion.” (His mother, Claire Dershowitz, disputed this account, telling the Washington Post, “The only time his tooth was knocked out was when he played tennis.”)

But, he said, an attorney is obligated to defend the rights of the accused: “I think of myself like a doctor or a priest. If they wheel Jeffrey Epstein into the emergency ward, the doctor is going to take care of him.”

Also from the above New Yorker article on AD:

In a 1997 op-ed in the Los Angeles Times, he argued against statutory-rape laws, writing, “There must be criminal sanctions against sex with very young children, but it is doubtful whether such sanctions should apply to teenagers above the age of puberty, since voluntary sex is so common in their age group.” He suggested that fifteen was a reasonable age of consent, no matter how old the partner was.

Dear @sds71,

Thank you for posting this.

How disrespectful to the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh! What was Prince Andrew thinking?

This wouldn't have gone over well at breakfast at the Palace this morning.
Seriously, this is so ignorant of Prince Andrew, in my opinion.

Exclusive: How Ghislaine Maxwell and Kevin Spacey relaxed at Buckingham Palace 'as guests of Prince Andrew'

"Seated next to her in the place normally occupied by the Duke of Edinburgh is Kevin Spacey, the Hollywood actor accused but never convicted of multiple sexual offences."

The Daily Telegraph has been told the pair were invited into the throne room on a private tour of the Palace organised by the Duke of York, a close friend of Ms Maxwell’s."

That’s unacceptable. What a dirty old man.

Still making excuses for statutory rape

Well, they were invited to Beatrice’s 18th birthday party at Buckingham Palace too

Sarah Ferguson met Epstein in Barbados when she was there when her daughters were about 12. Sarah, of course, went overboard being friends with such a rich and well-connected man. She ultimately took $15,000 from him when she couldn’t pay her bills.

How disgusting is THAT?

No more disgusting than using his children as his alibi for the reason why he couldn’t of possible had sex as he was with Princess Beatrice in a Pizza Express in Woking.

IMO

i wonder what was going on in 1997 to make him feel that way:

Just released flight records show Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz has been flying with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein on the financier's private jet dubbed the 'Lolita Express' since as early as 1997, despite public statements that they were only acquaintances.
