One of GM’s friends, Laura Goldman, a former investment banker, said GM would never say anything about the Andrew’s relationship with JE.

She has spoken to GM in the past month over the investigation into JE’s sexual exploitation of young girls, and that GM had seen she was “coming to the end of the road”.

LG was asked if GM would seek to obtain a plea deal in which she might plead guilty to some charges in return for a commuted sentence. She replied, “I think she has to”.

Asked if she would talk about Andrew, LG said, “No. She’s always told me that she would never ever say anything about him. I think she felt that he was her friend and she was never ever going to say anything about him. She really felt that in the 90s when her father died that Andrew was there for her, in many ways.”

She said she became friends with GM in New York in the 1990s and had attended Epstein’s “wild” parties in Palm Beach, Florida, but that she never saw GM with “young women”.

When asked if she thought GM was under the control of JE, she said, “Yes, I do. That doesn’t mean that what she did was OK. I think she thought that if she did one more grooming, found him one more girl, he would marry her. Is that OK? No. She honestly thought that at the end of the day she was going to be Mrs Jeffrey Epstein.”

“She knew she was coming to the end of the road,” Goldman said of her most recent conversations with GM”.

LG has been challenged over her relationship with GM, with one of JE’s alleged victims, Victoria Giuffre, having called on LG to turn GM over to police.

Is LG going to be one of the main witnesses for the prosecution?

Laura Goldman said she would “never sell out” Prince Andrew. She suggested that GM could instead discuss with LE their ties to former president Bill Clinton and Donald Trump, though no allegations have been made against either man.

"The only way she can walk is if she gives someone up, but that definitely won't be Andrew," LG said. "She is so appreciative that when she first came to New York, the Duke helped to launch her into high society. She always talks about what a true friend he is. She doesn't see any reason to speak about him to the authorities."

She suggested he was too "naive" to understand why young girls would be invited to JE’s properties and whose "sense of entitlement" would lead him to believe they were servants.

Andrew has also been named in a federal lawsuit by a woman who claims he was present at JE’s NY mansion when she was raped by JE. Caroline Kaufman, who was 17 years old at the time of the alleged offence in December 2010, alleges that she was invited to JE's NY home by an associate for a "modelling interview".

CK, now 26, has alleged that she was escorted to a massage room by an "older woman" who she believes to be GM, where she was raped by JE according to a lawsuit filed on Thursday in the Southern District of New York.

She doesn’t claim that Andrew took part in the incident, only that he was present in the mansion beforehand.

Ghislaine Maxwell will 'never sell out' Prince Andrew for a plea deal, friend claims

Right. And does Andrew normally open the front door of JE’s NY mansion, give a big smile and wave as a young servant leaves? Utter tripe.

The only knowledge she has are of things GM has told her. She has no evidence relating to the charges.

Do you think the DA would find any interest in her regarding the 'wild' Epstein parties she attended? Then again, I'm sure there's scores of people who attended such events.

Here's a Daily Beast list of other people SDNY may be interested in.

It’s probably just coincidence Maxwell and the Ramsey’s used the same law practice for separate cases, despite living in differing states too.
I think she has attorneys from each state Epstein had a house in and he had a house in Vail.
when Haddon repped Kobe, the names of some of his other clients were mentioned and the Biggest Client is a friend of Maxwell.

I believe Maxwell’s 2016 (2017?) lawsuit was out of NY. The practice was out of Colorado.

I saw this photo last night and I’m not convinced that’s her in the JonB photo. She looks like she would look today and that photo would be 25 years old.

Jeffrey Epstein Confidante Ghislaine Maxwell Arrested on Sex Abuse Charges

I don't understand why she stayed in the United States. If she had left and gone anywhere without extradition, she would be free.

Narcissism. She felt like she was too important to get arrested.
Yes, I've wondered too why she stayed in the US.
And especially after hearing that her friend Laura Goldman stated that “She knew she was coming to the end of the road.”
GM could have gone anywhere with the loads of money and connections she has all over.

It is bizarre. As others have noted, hubris may play into it.

From graceful Oxford ingenue to New York party queen, Ghislaine Maxwell lived a life of glamour that is hard to reconcile with the charges now facing her.

Growing up as the indulged daughter of millionaire publishing baron Robert Maxwell, Ghislaine was a leading figure in the hedonistic social scene of 1980s London.

She used her father’s credit card and her personal charm to create a matchless network of friends and contacts that would go on to include Prince Andrew and the late financier and paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
These previously unpublished images taken by photographer Dafydd Jones show her starring at a succession of society events – the Chelsea Arts Ball in 1985, the Boisdale Ball in 1986 – where she was known as charismatic, expensively turned out and, as she was fond of making clear, impeccably connected.

Following the sensational 1991 death and disgrace of Robert Maxwell, who was found to have stolen millions from the Mirror Group pension scheme, his youngest daughter decamped to New York.

And there, armed with her contacts book and the cash of her new friend Epstein, Maxwell set about rebuilding a stellar social life, as happy to spend thousands on a hairdo as she was to capitalise on her ‘Mary Poppins’ English accent.

Virginia Giuffre was elated when her American lawyer phoned her with news of Maxwell's arrest. 'When I got the call I was elated, crying tears of joy, laughing … finally we got her.'

In her Twitter feed, she also posted a picture of a sunset along with the caption, 'As I take a moment of silence watching the sun go down I find myself supremely grateful for this day.

GM is being held at the Merrimack County Jail, a medium-security facility 20 miles from where she was arrested. The jail is a 'well-run' and 'low-key' facility and 'a vastly better jail than where she will be sent to in New York City.'

She is expected to be transferred to New York for a court appearance next week, a spokesman for the US Attorney's Office in Manhattan said.

A New Hampshire criminal defense lawyer who frequently visits the jail but is not representing her said GM is likely in her own holding cell where she can be observed at all times. 'They are going to have her on the tightest security imaginable'. The jail is a 'well-run' and 'low-key' facility and 'a vastly better jail than where she will be sent to in New York City.'

He said new inmates at the jail are generally held in a booking area for their first days there, where jail staff are able to keep a close eye on a few surrounding cells. 'There's nothing there,' he said of the booking area. 'You can't interact with anyone in any other cell.'

After a psychological examination and risk assessment, inmates are moved into the general population. Women are held in a unit separated from the men. He said that given her profile and imminent transfer to New York, she would likely never be moved to the New Hampshire jail's general population.

He said despite the lack of company and television access in the central booking area, she is 'probably happy to be there' and not in the women's unit, where she would likely be threatened and insulted. 'Anybody charged with child sex abuse is public enemy number one in terms of how other inmates perceive them. 'I would expect she would fall squarely into that category.'
