I think the Volunteer page is most interesting. I expect that it will change soon so take a look now:

http://bringkidshome.org/volunteer.htm

As someone posted here recently on this thread, it has a list of "Examples of Tasks For New Volunteers"

A few stand out as particularly notable, in my opinion.

1. General Research Utilizing the Internet, Books, Magazines, etc.
2. Web Link Research Finding "URL Favorites" on a particular subject.
3. Posting, Blogging Building Awareness and Web Traffic.
4. Banner Promotions Negotiate with webmasters to add our Banner.
5. Creating Donor Lists Not fund raising directly, Donor Research.
6. Fund Raising Finding, Calling, or E-mailing potential donors.
7. Case Field Work Start with research, eventually out in the field.

8. Special Skills Programming, Graphic Design, Artist, etc.

Posting, might be something someone would do on a forum such as Websleuths. Do they have a donor database? And, um, going out in the field? What does that mean?

And, these two items on the same page, standout to me:

Growth
We have around one-hundred volunteers and the Red Cross has 97 million; so you are joining us at a very early stage.

'Around' 100 volunteers??? Really??? Around???

Guidelines

* Everything you post or blog must be "positive" in nature (no profanity, threats, etc.)
* Reframe sic from attacking any specific "person" such as a defendant in a case.
* Volunteers are not to interact with minors, online or in person (when representing BKH).
* Volunteers submit a weekly activity report (a simple email is fine).

Bring Kids Home seems to compare itself with The Red Cross. Wasn't something said here recently about The Red Cross? Doesn't The Red Cross supply their volunteers with official legal identification? They are probably bonded as well, at least for some situations.

Also, I would bet that The Red Cross has insurance up to their eyeballs to cover themselves and their volunteers for all sorts of unforseeable occurances. Seems that this organization might need to tend to that.

And that stuff next to the volunteer tasks at the right was not there two days ago.In another (older)part of website the around 100 volunteers was stated as under 100. 2 is under 100 as I remarked earlier in this thread,

How Large is Bring Kids Home?
We are a small organization with under 100 volunteers, the Red Cross for example has 97 million volunteers. Our goal is to find volunteers who are dedicated to this social cause in all 52 states, volunteer link.
http://bringkidshome.org/faqs.htm

And I still have not figured out what the "social cause" is. Dreaming up an expensive memorial is not a social cause IMO.

I am wonder about the sanity of the person who came up with money "bricks". In basketball, shooting "bricks' is missing free throws. An embarrassment of sorts. Go figure here.

If you keep clicking older posts on their Facebook page, this is almost the very last one. Seems the founder's name is "Henry Segura" !!
Bring Kids Home
Henry Segura was a professional welterweight boxer. As a young boy Mr. Segura grew up in an orphanage and fighting in the rings of East Los Angeles. He dedicated his entire life to children; he moved to Oregon where he became actively involved in Little League, Boy Scouts, many community charities, and opened numerous boxing clubs for disadvantaged youth.

The Champ picture has Henry03.jpg in the source. Here is what I do not get. According to his short bio , he was undefeated as a prof boxer. Yet nothing on Google about this wonderful welterweight prof boxer. He started bringkidshome in 2006 and apparently died since then. You would expect a fancy orbit for such an UNDEFEATED prof boxer who sounds like another Sugar Ray Robinson. Something does not click.

As a boxer he was undefeated until his last fight against Pancreatic Cancer which he fought bravely.

28 - 1 - 1 Not undefeated.

Oh gee! Gifts bricks!!! Just what everyone wants from them for Christmas of course.

It certainly looks like they are reading comments about their org. on various websites and updating their info to make it more believable/plausible to the casual unsuspecting visitor.

rotterdam's above post and another to which a reply was amended so as not to compromise rotterdam's investigation has proven correct.
Let's just say that LambChop's suspicion that "They seem to be paying attention..." was spot on.
:floorlaugh: ironic: the amended reply itself appears to have been "paid attention to"

Wine on the Fox

Concerts in the Park– live music on the river

Pack your cooler and join your friends and neighbors for two free concerts in the park! Kids can romp on the playground while mom and dad enjoy some mid-week relaxation. Concerts compliments of the Oswegoland Park District.

All right! Go get smashed while your kids watch. MADNESS.:banghead:

You guys, on the last page, someone used the names of minor children. DO NOT DO THAT!!!

It will get the thread closed down forever! Please do not copy the post, just report it so a Mod can edit it, or the original poster should edit it if they see this in time.

Yep, and if the project peters out, you get a free metal stand with your brick to put on your mantel. Bet shipping cost will be high for a "brick" :floorlaugh:

Hope the playground isn't "by the river".

That "wine on the Fox" - the FOX is the Fox river. And it is proably a toxic sewer river for good measure. Hence the needed booze to help with the smell.:banghead::banghead::banghead:
