Watching CTV news....love watching RS come out of the court room with that huge smile of relief on his face!!!!!

Also said on 6 oclock news that he will likely go to the Kingston Pen.

It is sickening that he can have a computer if he buys one...does that mean he can have internet?????

Meant to post this yesterday. You will find comfort in this article.

Thanks for that. Men reduced to animals, throwing their own feces like monkeys and screaming "Forty seven, forty seven."

I get a chill every time I drive by the Pen. I hope it doesn't close.

ETA - Maybe Canadians would be less disenfranchised with the criminal justice system if we realized what it was like in there. Not saying they should open it up like a zoo, but journalists should be given some access.

Ah your very welcome. Rafferty has no idea what he is in for. He seems like a "soft" sociopath. I expect he will go mad. MOO

Sometimes gaining access to the likes of Berardo is all in who you know.

Rosie Dimanno in today's Toronto Star, on the role of the media:

I am not proud, either, with how the media conducted themselves in the agonizing days and weeks after Tori went missing, when the full weight of disapproval was heaped on the child’s poor mother, Tara McDonald, judging her mannerisms, her parenting, her choices in men, her “one o’clocks’’ — the daily press conferences outside their Woodstock home, intended to keep Tori’s vanishing at the forefront of news cycles that — and, in some quarters, essentially pronounced responsible, even guilty, of somehow doing away with her own daughter.

We can be jackals. And those who condemned McDonald were dreadfully wrong. She is owed an apology, from journalists and skeptical police who added to her misery.

On Victoria:

She was both an ordinary and extraordinary little girl, was Tori, bright and vivacious and lovely. Half diva and half tomboy, as the Woodstock police chief described her Friday night, girlish and adventurous. She liked butterfly imagery and the colour purple. She was street-proofed by her mother but she was also trusting, as all children should be in a kinder world, where kids aren’t snatched off the street in broad daylight.

Tori can’t be hurt anymore. Those who loved her will never heal.

Do you know any details about the vigil, robynhood? Where? I think I might like to go to that...

Feeling strangely down in the dumps today, a bit of an 'emotional hangover', I guess... anyone else feeling this way today? I think it might be because the fight for justice is over, or about to be over, once sentencing is done... and without 'the fight', all that remains is the sad and empty realization that none of it will ever bring Tori back. Makes me wonder if there may be some even darker days ahead for her family yet... when there are no distractions and all they have left to focus on is the hole left in their lives now that Tori is gone.

Yes emotional hangover is a good way of describing how I'm feeling. I had a 3 hour nap this afternoon and never did that in my life. Emotionally drained. I just can't imagine how her family must be feeling. I have to believe that there is a superior being who no doubt continues to give them inner strength.

A beautiful message from Rodney on Justice for Tori FB page thanking everyone for their love and support. He goes on to say they couldn't have held it together like they have if it weren't for all the love and support.

Rewatching Mr. Derstine address the media, I noticed a few things.
He seemed extremely uncomfortable answering the questions. He sighed quite a bit, and seemed annoyed when he was asked how much money he made.
Also, I noticed that his associate, Ms. Giordano, was trying not to smile, especially at mention of the verdict.

It isn't really important, just wanted to share my random observations.

I hope Tara knows how much we admire her. I admit I was very suspicious of her when Victoria went missing but when she continued to hold the daily afternoon conferences despite all the negativity and suspicions surrounding her, I knew she and Rodney had become Victoria's voice and there was no more question on my mind that Victoria was a victim of a sick sick individual. At the time, I never imagined the murderous duo and the heartwrenching details of her last hours.

I pray Tara continues to hold her head up high with the love and support of those arround her may she continue on a positive path with healing arms around her.

I wonder how these guys really feel about the verdict.

When the reporter asks if he still believes if his client is an innocent dupe, watch the answer...

You don't have to be a behavioural scientist. He never believed his client was an innocent dupe.

I've watched Derstine's comments to the media a couple of times now and it seems to me that's the verdict he expected if the Crown did its job and the jury was on the ball. He thought it was fair. Nevertheless, he mounted the best defence he could, because everybody deserves that. As to how much he was paid by Legal Aid, that's nobody's business and he didn't look uncomfortable at all saying 'no' to divulging the cost. I think he was very professional in answering the questions. No excuses. No sour grapes.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooo. I didn't hear the verdict last night because I decided to turn the computer and my cell off and spend some time with my daughter because I have been so wrapped up in this case. I came up stairs this morning and turned my phone on and the text messages started flowing in and the relief I felt is indescribable. I messaged Tara right away and she was so happy and said she finally after a long time slept last night. I feel so good right now. I would like to take all the police officers, the crown attorney, the judge and the most of all the jury for all their hard work on this very difficult case. Justice has finally been servered. Now only if MR wouldn't be protected in jail and get what he deserves it would be that much better.

Does anyone have the link for TLM police interegation?

I agree.
He was there to make sure there were no mistakes. Somebody has to do the job. I think he did his well.

Too many judges — evidently Heeney among them — take a condescending view of juries. They say all the right things, like “we’re not withholding anything from you” when juries are trotted out of the room for legal arguments. This is patently false because they are withholding, not just the legal wrangles that take place on the head of a pin but the quantifiable facts as well.
It is as if juries can’t be trusted with the truth. It is infantilizing.
Michael Rafferty is a man of bad character. He is a sexual deviant. He is a child-killer.
Thank God the jury got it, no thanks to Heeney.

There is no statute of limitations on rape in Canada crazylady. Perhaps now she will come forward. Maybe she was threatened. I wonder who else may come out of the woodwork.

I've been wondering all day how the single moms he dated have been coping now? Especially since the 'buying babies' and the Simone 'baby snuggling' chit came out.

If they weren't freaked out already, I guess some exes are now. If any of them had babes too young to talk back then, they may never, ever know what 'Mychol' did or didn't do to their kiddos.

To say that is creeping me out big time doesn't even begin to cover it. Miss Escort had *4* kids - and she was 22 back then. What are the chances that several of those kiddos weren't yet talking?

ugh. Just freakin' UGH.

So glad, so dang glad that monster is locked away for good. He's gonna get what is coming to him. Bubba don't like baby rapers.
