Double post.
I am sorry you are going thru that: i also have the cough variant asthma: In fact when I first began to cough 40 years ago , it was the only symptom I had. The coughing was horrible and it took at least two years to be properly diagnosed with asthma. I required the use of oral steroids for two years to get it under control, and now I use Flovent steroid inhaler on a daily basis. Twenty years ago, for no apparent reason I again developed an episode of uncontrollable coughing. I hope you get that cough under control soon: it does extremely annoying ,especially at night time. Take care.
For those who might not be familiar with the term "cough-variant asthma", this is a good article written in layman's terms.
Cough-Variant Asthma Symptoms, Treatments, Causes, and More (webmd.com)
Cough-variant asthma is a type of asthma in which the main symptom is a dry, non-productive cough. (A non-productive cough does not expel any mucus from the respiratory tract.) People with cough-variant asthma often have no other "classic" asthma symptoms, such as wheezing or shortness of breath...
I received an email notification from Beaumont Health this morning to schedule my vaccine appointment. I will get my shot this Wednesday at noon. DH hasn't been notified yet, but he'll be driving me, so maybe he can get his vaccination at the same time. I was hoping to avoid the 1/2 hour drive to Southfield but wasn't going to miss the opportunity to get my vaccine sooner rather than later.

Great news!!!!! you kinda have to go wherever they are giving the shot-
we had to drive to the Henry Ford Medical Center in Dearborn--everything
was so well organized
I received email confirmation/reminder this morning. Beaumont choices are Southfield or Dearborn. Neighbor went to Southfield - straight down Lahser. Takes about 30 minutes. When I scheduled yesterday, there were many appointment times available throughout the day. If they're not busy, maybe DH can have his shot, too. That way, we can return together for second dose and avoid additional trips to the facility.

This staying at home all the time means, even with a new A/C air filter, I am still breathing the same circulated air. I do open the doors and air out the house when I can. However, I am trying to get thru allergy season without such a struggle, constant meds, eye drops, etc. The oak trees blooming are killing me. Plus dog hair from my foster fur babies.
I researched air purifiers to see if that would help. I bought one and had it running during the day while I was in the living room. I thought it was making a difference. However, my daughter got sick with a sinus and ear infection that is now in her bronchial tubes. So I sent it home with her for a few days. She thinks it’s helping her. She is ordering one now too. My next test is to run it in my room at night to see if that helps. Anyone else use an air purifier to help stay healthy? It is probably a good idea even without the added risk of Covid.
I mentioned our new air purifiers to my friend after she was telling me her allergy symptoms. She jumped online and ordered one.Your post prompted DH and I to research air purifiers over the weekend. We think it might be a good idea to have one in the master bedroom since that is where my nighttime asthma cough happens. The Costco members coupon brochure arrived by mail today, and there is a Winix air purifier available with a $30 discount. Not sure when DH will make a trip to Costco, but he will certainly take a look at the air purifier.
I've been researching air purifiers too. I’ve been looking at the Blue Air brand. Costco carries it online but it’s larger then I need. I had my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine early this afternoon. The entire process took about 30 minutes - arrival, check-in, injection, self-monitoring for 15 minutes. I barely felt the shot and have been moving my arm around frequently to ward off discomfort. I asked if DH could get his shot today, too, but they have to stick to the lottery protocol for now. Hopefully, he will be invited to get the vaccine shortly. I'll get my second dose on March 24 at noon, and I cancelled my reservation on the Oakland County Health Department site.
Thank you! There is so much info to take in. I’ve been researching for a month. This is the article I read about air purifiers before I chose one. Of course for me budget was a huge factor. I do see the Winix brand is highly rated.
The Best Air Purifier

Last night was my test with it in my bedroom which is about 12’ x 15’. I sleep with my door shut and I use the ceiling fan most nights. I noticed this morning I did not wake up with a headache but my sinuses were dry.
After my doctor appointment, in the rain, the headache came back. The pollen was everywhere of course, and the pressure change could be factors today. I do think it helps because I’m not as stuffy plus, I’m not sneezing as much.
My daughter thinks it’s helping her too. She goes back to the allergist today I think.
As sick as my youngest has been with allergies and asthma over the years, nobody ever mentioned an air purifier to us either. She’s had allergy testing, shots, breathing treatments, etc.I had my first Pfizer shot yesterday, and DH was contacted by Meijer this morning. He scheduled his vaccine for 11:30. Meijer is giving the Moderna shot, but DH didn't want to wait for an invitation by Beaumont Health. Meijer is much closer than the Beaumont facility where I went yesterday and will return to on March 24.
DH and I were discussing air purifiers last night. He could probably buy one today at Lowe's but is interested in the one at Costco. In all the years that I've been seeing an allergy/asthma specialist, owning an air purifier was never discussed. I was always asked about a humidifier, regularly-changed furnace filters, allergy-proof bedding, limited knick-knacks, etc.,
but there was no mention of an air purifier for the master bedroom. We certainly would have gotten one, just like I bought a home nebulizer when that was part of my treatment regimen. DH will probably go to Costco in a week or so and will buy the Winix air purifier that they are featuring. He will also get our annual spring indulgence - a 4# canister of JellyBellys
