I don't recall hearing about him before. I'd remember the name, because a well-known baseball player has the same name - Steve Lefty Carlton.

I thought he probably just used the ball player's name for his account. I know a lot of people who do things like that.

I have often thought from the beganing of the abduction when they found the purse and cell phone . ? It was thrown toward's the Hwy. May have been a signal from the girl's that that was the direction they were being taken in from taklk they may have heard from the perp.? MOO

I have had the same thought - dropped while in travel, indicating the
direction of travel at the time ... toward the highway. It makes sense on
one level, but raises more questions on several other levels. If true, were
they responding to someone calling they knew or had an important
message ... because its hard to believe some abductor could struggle with
the girls openly in the park then fprce them back to some vehicle on a
busy highway, all without notice ???

LE nor the parents have ever mentioned the highway or anyone on the
highway, so far as I know, in any context. That does not mean someone
on the highway hasnt didnt see something and has conveyed that to LE
who are keeping it private?

LE has chosen not to say "anything" to the public! The case seems dead.

For some reason way back I befriened him on FB, only because I was suspicious of him. Now I can't remember why.

Are you saying you suspect him of abducting Lyric and Lizzie? Because he doesn't appear to live in Iowa. Unless you know something about him that doesn't show up on his FB page.

I think this has been discussed before but I can't remember if we ever resolved it...is Daniel the biological father of Lyric? Or step-father? Just wondering as to the reason why her last name in her obituary was "Cook" but many other places along the way it was Lyric Morrissey and/or Lyric Morrissey-Cook?

Dan is Lyric's biological father. I don't know why Lyric's name is sometimes Cook and sometimes Cook-Morrissey. I wonder what her legal name was?

One side of I-380/Hwy 20 was closed for road repairs at the time, so all the traffic was forced into two lanes. Locals have said that it was busy and bumper to bumper during daylight hours. I think it would be really hard to take 2 young girls up that steep embankment from the lake and into a vehicle with no one noticing under those conditions. The road repair crews were actually working on the stretch that passes Meyers Lake at the time.

Having driven past Meyers Lake in the past, I think it is deceptive as to how much you can see from the highway. When you drive by, there's the shoulder and then a steep drop down to the 8-10 foot fence that lines all the interstates in Iowa. That fence was covered in vines and the vegetation on both sides was high. You'd practically have to hang out your window at highway speed to see the bike trail. What I remember seeing is a glimpse of the other side of the lake, where the houses are.

I suppose it is possible that the girls were taken up to the highway to be whisked away by vehicle but I really think that's a long shot.

In my sample limited to my own life experience, the easiest way is usually the way things happen. In this case, the easiest way would be to have a vehicle hidden back in the woods on Maiden Lane, where it would be be seen from any street, road or house (hidden by foliage).

I don't think it happened that way either GrainneDhu. I do remember though that there was an opening in the fence due to a car accident a while before the girls went missing that had gone unrepaired on the highway side of the fence. One of our locals or two posted pictures of it on a thread way back.

Yeah. It was so old that the broken fence was all covered with vegetation.

Still, there would be the problem of walking two girls up the embankment to a vehicle. Even if the girls were going perfectly willingly, I think one or more motorists would have seen them and there would have been an Amber Alert possible. The reason there wasn't an Amber Alert was because there was no vehicle or suspect information to release. Without that information, the Amber Alert system in Iowa is not activated.

This happens all the time with children of divorce or parents who never married. My own cousins when their parents were still married just had their father's last name. But when my aunt and her husband divorced, my aunt had her kids start using her maiden name which she went back to along with her ex's last name linked with a hypen.

Aunt's maiden name - Dad's name.

Not sure if it was ever legally changed because I've seen my cousins go back to using just their father's name at times.

my sis named her children with both she and the daddy's last name because they were unmarried. She wanted the children to have each parents last name so they would feel equally connected to both and not feel awkward about having a different last name from their dad. She also wanted them to have her own last name so that theirs would not differ from hers.

Just the fact that the thick weeds there were chest high, from the pics with officers searching, makes me think the girls wouldn't have been taken that way. Perp would want to get away as fast and smoothly as possible, imo.

Although. on the flip side, the high grass and weeds would have provided cover.

I tend to agree with you though, I don't think they were dragged or escorted through there. I have always leaned toward maiden lane.

That makes sense to me, especially if the parents aren't married.

But Dan and Misty were married - in fact, they filed for divorce shortly before Lyric and Lizzie were taken.

Below is a portion of Lyric's obituary"

Lyric Ray Lynn Cook was born on October 2, 2001, in Waterloo to Dan and Misty Morrissey. She attended Kingsley Elementary School and was 10 years old. Lyric went home to be with the Lord July 13, 2012.

Lyric is survived by her parents, Dan and Misty Morrissey, and her brother Dillin Morrissey.

So Lyric's last name is Cook, but her brother's last name is Morrissey.:waitasec:

Is there nothing about this case that isn't confusing?

I was wondering if the girl's could have been given Chlorofam on a cloth to make them easy to handle or ever tazed ? Were going to get the one's who did this it's just a matter of time . DNA take's a long time to be finished my Brother's and I waited almost six month's to find out if we had a match for my Missing Sister Madeline Anna Babcock ( Charley's Project ) It was not a match .

Well, I will just continue then. On his Fb page he continues to post missing girl photos. I at first thought, "okay, cool". But after constant posting of missing kids it has kinda raised my hinkles. Hinkles? Hackles? Hairs?

Many members of FB groups for the girls were contacting their favorite celebrities (sports, tv, music, etc.) early on when the girls went missing to ask them to please post photos and information about the missing girls to spread awareness across the country. I would guess a fan of his sent him the photos and asked if he would post them to his FB to get "the word out?"

Warning - Graphic

I don't think these people in the video know that pigs can be very vicious when it comes to food and/or territory.

Are there wild hogs around the area where the girls were found? I remember someone mentioning coyotes possibly being around. Wouldn't any animal including vultures and small rodents be attracted to the bodies of the girls?

I know LE Abben seeming to be very upset at the thought of the parents viewing the girls' remains.

Is there any update to the hearing of Dan Morrissey

Oh no, not again:what:
