Probably not often, but from the same day, I think chances are you'd remember. I heard they were missing around 5:00 pm. Had I been in the area that day, it probably would have registered. When I ride on the bike trail, I would remember if I passed two girls on bikes, a jogger, a person walking the dog..... not that I would remember faces and be able to give a description., but I could tell you if i saw two girls on bikes within 12 to 24 hours or so after.

BBM - I find it touching that, aft all this time, you still remember what time of day it was when you first heard that two little girls were missing. <sigh>

Maybe I'm wrong but I think women are more apt to remember things like that.

And where I was, on our way to my father in laws house. My son texted me that two girls were missing, and everyone assumed they had drowned.

OT: Multiple attempted child abductions in Ohio, West Virginia, and Michigan.

Article states man in white windowless van, likely has job that requires frequent travel.

ETA: Per facebook "missing cases" ...One of the Ohio lurings involved a man walking his dog in a nature trail park. He talked to two girls and let them pet his dog, then waited at the end of the trail by his van until the girls returned. Then he asked them to get into his van. Luckily, the girls got away.

Yikes! :(

If the abduction was planned and if it was one perp, anybody think the perp could have a military background?

I guess any background is possible at this point. If we knew COD it might help us to figure out the type of person who did this. But understandably, we won't be getting that info any time soon. If you have a feeling this person could have military background it wouldn't hurt to explore that thought. We have great people on here, I know every day I can come here and there is something new, unlike other threads that don't move. It's nice to know these girls are thought of every day.

I've never considered that one way or the other, but something must have made you think of it.

Can you share your thoughts?

Ty, Squeeze. I so wish you had seen something that fateful day as, IMO, you would have made an excellent witness.

BBM - Bingo... that, IMO, is the most logical assumption. I don't know if perp chose that location (either for staging or abduction) for that very reason or just lucked out.

There was possibly an added advantage to perp in that it could have caused a slight delay in crime scene tape being placed.

Wow. Very interesting. I wonder if anyone was walking their dog around Meyers Lake on July 13, 2012?

IIRC we sleuthed the heck out of the scenario of the use of animals to take the girls, eg "help me find my puppy" type abductions.

I seem to recall this was pretty much discounted due to the timing of the whole thing.

Grandma hit the streets in her car at 12.30, only 15 minutes after the girls were last seen.

As we know, she found no sign of them, despite driving "all over every llittle park and Evansdale" including the Lake.

The puppy/dog tactic is time consuming, may attract several kids not just your "target", and be just too risky for this particular perp.

IMO the girls were gone by 12.25.

If that wasn't them on that video camera (and I have no strong belief that it was) then IMHO they could have been gone sooner than that...

On my worst days here (as in no big discussions going on), the only thing I know for sure is that Lyric and Elizabeth are dead... and I'm 99+ per cent sure that the bikes found at the lake did indeed belong to them.

If that wasn't them on the camera, then that opens up the timeframe by 45 minutes. But I have a hard time believing police would release the video and say it was the girls unless they were 100% sure.

If the girls were gone by 12:25, do you believe the girls were taken at the lake AND that the bikes TG saw belonged to the girls?

IMO, the pet tactic isn't necessarily time consuming if you are already grooming a child/children. If the girls were taken by someone they knew, he could have told the girls to meet him at the lake and he'd show them his new pet. They show up, he walks them to his vehicle to see the pet, and the girls are abducted.

I'm not saying this is how it happened, I'm just disagreeing that the pet tactic is time consuming and too risky.

I'm sure that LE was able to tell by ways of cleaning up the camera pictures that is was the girls. We are only seeing the grainy quality but they have ways of cleaning it up.

I'm guessing it was the girls on the video, guessing because I am an untrained person so I can not be 100% sure. The only thing I find odd is that the time is off by x amount of minutes. Are all camera like that? Again I am not trained in video cameras, just found it odd.

At the risk of sounding repetitive, I have always believed TG's sighting, and that the girls were either taken at the lake or very nearby.

I believe they went to the lake on a mission, and were taken immediately.

I believe the girls may have still been with their abductor in the wooded area of the lake when TG went past.

I believe TG and Mr C and others have been purposely instructed to be vague as to times.

I believe LE would not say the cctv was the girls if it wasn't, and am also mindful that they were the only two on bikes that went past that camera the entire day.

I'm of the opinion that the clearest version of the video that we've seen is the version which was enhanced by LE.

I mean, gosh, look how crystal clear the bdgs and grounds are of the auction hse property which is, I assume, the focus and purpose of the cameras!
