FYI, sent an email tip regarding the ice cream truck.....

IIRC, a ride & drive event had already been scheduled and it was changed to a ride & drive event for Lyric and Lizzie.

Here's the FB link for Lofty's Lounge: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Loftys-Lounge/238252349736

O/T (((HUGS)))

Thank you! Lofty's Lounge has been very supportive of the girls IMO. They had a ride for the girls on August 18, 2012 (118 participants) AND September 8, 2012 (111 participants). I hope they have a very large turnout for the upcoming ride. That would be amazing!

O/T: Thank you for the ((((HUGS))))). Much appreciated! ((Huggs back))

Thank you very much!! Definitely could see the girls chasing an ice cream truck AND that being the reason Elizabeth had taken her purse! Makes sense.

Let's suppose that the children heard an ice cream truck and followed it. Surely the ice cream truck didn't stop and load up the children with their bikes, drive down Maiden Lane, deposit the bikes 400 feet down the Evansdale Nature trail, then drive to Seven Bridges County Park and ... that just doesn't make sense to me. If someone wanted to sneakily kidnap and murder two children, would he really do it with an ice cream truck?

We know that Elizabeth had cycled to the Meyers Lake area in the past because she visited a friend that lived in the area. We also have eye witness reports that she was on Lake Avenue on July 13 ... plus there must be other sightings of the children near Maiden Lane and Meyers Lake for police to release a statement that they have information that the children were in the area of Elmer, Gilbert and Arbutus between 12:30 and 1 PM on July 13.

At this point, I think anything is possible. There have been other reports of kids being molested by someone in an ice cream truck. What if the girls were pulled into the truck, leaving the bikes, other kids came along and saw easy transportation to wherever. Stranger things have happened. Maybe they chased he truck all the way to Meyers Lake. Maybe it wasn't directly involved but was just a piece of the puzzle.

If you want an example of a case involving an ice cream truck, look up Mikelle Biggs. This is what happened: Mikelle and her sister heard the music of an ice cream truck so they ran outside to the street corner. Her sister was cold so she went to back to their house to get her jacket, which was 4 houses away from where they were. She returned 2 minutes later and Mikelle was gone. LE interviewed every ice cream vendor in Arizona, and they couldn't confirm that there had been an ice cream truck in the vicinity at that time. Her case is still unsolved, so we don't know what part (if any) the ice cream truck played in it but it does seem like a weird coincidence that both her and her sister heard the music (and that music is pretty distinctive) and an abductor just happens to be driving by while Mikelle is alone for 2 minutes. So I am NOT saying that Mikelle's case is connected to Elizabeth and Lyric...just wanted to give an example of a case where there is a high chance an ice cream truck played a part in it.

I don't remember which network it was or which television show it was but they did a documentary on showing parents how easy it was for someone to abduct their child. I want to say it was "48 Hours." In the documentary it showed how someone could easily entice a child into an ice cream van by telling the child he give them free ice cream and the child went into the van. As a child I remember chasing after the ice cream truck. They usually play music which can be heard for a couple of blocks.

The ice cream truck came through our neighborhood when my children were young, but I haven't heard it in the last few years. I always went with the children if they were allowed to have something. It seems to me that even if Lyric and Elizabeth chased an ice cream truck all the way to Arbutus, wouldn't someone on Lake Avenue also have noticed the ice cream truck music?

Regarding the case of Mikelle, what seems unusual is that the two children were going to buy ice cream on a cold day ... and getting a coat was more important than ice cream. That's unusual ... in my opinion.

That's an interesting case.

Regarding Lyric and Lizzie, I think if there was an ice cream truck involved, others would have come forward by now and reported seeing one in the vicinity. And I think others would have heard the music, too. Also, there was no ice cream truck shown on the auction house tape. JMO.

Usually a person can hear the music a couple of blocks away so it doesn't necessarily have to be on the same street as the auction house for the kids to hear it.

It was 62 degrees that day. Mikelle's two quarters were found near her bike. You would have thought her sister would have given Mikelle her money incase the truck came by when she was away. However, I remember when I was a child, we could tell where the truck was so maybe her sister thought she had enough time? Plus, Mikelle could have always asked the ice cream truck to wait a few seconds for her sister to come back. Her sister said she only took 2 minutes in all so it makes me think she was went back to the house, got the jacket, and back as quick as she could.

I believe Oprah had a show about abduction and luring when she was doing her daily program. Parents were absolutely shocked at how easily their children could be lured by a stranger. And these were kids whose parents had talked to them about not going with strangers.

right now I think a local perv saw an opportunity and took it.

I have theorized about luring, meeting, planning etc. But at this point, I lean heavily toward a local perv who maybe had noted the girls before but wasn't necessarily stalking. Saw them out riding THAT day, and pounced. Still unsure if I think he saw them at the lake or somewhere along their bike ride and followed. I think the crime was entirely sexually or sadistically motivated.

on the fence still about that aspect.

I am of this opinion too tlcya! :seeya:

But we don't know that they haven't....

NBC did one. I think it was Natalie Morales' son. She thought he would never go in, but he did.

Again, we have no way of knowing what all tips were called in, and everything that people reported that they saw. What I do know, is that it would be a huge mistake for LE to not consider something because it may not match entirely with what we THINK are other pieces of the puzzle. Maybe there was an ice cream truck heard near the Collins home. Maybe the girls met someone at the ice cream truck that enticed them away to another area, such as the lake.

So I sent the tip in, and hypothetically of course, LE contacts Peppys (I'm sure they have already done this prior to my tip), the Peppys employee maybe saw them, OR saw someone lurking, or parked, or whatever. Or maybe they noticed something on a different day that they now think could be suspicious.

I'm not saying that the ice cream truck was involved, and I cant say how and why the bikes ended up on the trail. I'm just saying consider the possibilities. It could lead down an entirely different path that leads to the killer.

This is my thoughts exactly. I don't think the person driving the ice cream van would have done anything but it may have been the reason why the kids went out the door in the middle of pour juice for themselves and God only knows who they might have met up with along the way. It would be a reason why one of the girls took her purse with her and they were flying down the street as it appeared they were doing on the video. I've been trying to think of any possible scenario why those kids would leave the house in the middle of pouring juice for themselves and I know for a fact as a child when I heard the ice cream van coming around in our neighborhood I'd stop what I was doing and take off looking for the ice cream man.

as to the ice cream truck idea. I wanted to make it clear, I was not suggesting someone driving an ice cream truck is responsible, but I have been troubled by the "girls know not too go far" statements in light of where the bikes were found and the fact that the girls knew that they needed to be back in a short time.

I was trying to think, what would make girls that age, go flying down the block, purse in tow, so close to a time when they knew they would need to be ending their bike ride.

If in haste they were followiung the sound of something like an ice cream truck, I could see our girls chasing it, thinking its surely just one more block over and we will be back in plenty of time.

I can see them riding onto a block they were less familiar with, that was outside their normal route in this circumstance.

And then encountering someone . . . or ending up closer to the lake than they intended, and trying to work out the best way to get back to where they belong, their "zone"

I spilled coffee on my keyboard and now my laptop is not working. So I'm trying to use my phone - excuse any typos.

It's possible the girls heard an ice cream truck. Nothing has been said about the girls having any money but maybe Lizzie did have some in her purse. NNMO, but anything is possible.

I like the idea of a ice cream truck, but it could have been something like the siren of a fire truck or a police car they heard. They could have stopped and asked someone what was going on and that person lied and said someone was drowning at the lake. They took off but stopped at the store to ask the employees where the lake was which would have given that person time to beat them there. Just my out of the box thought!
Was there anything else happening during that time?
I'm still bothered by the video showing their last sighting as going away from the pond. Going the direction of the siren? What road was the store located on?
