The man, police say, attempted to lure the boy into his van, but the boy rode home and told his parents what had happened.

Investigators found security camera footage of the suspect and say the man is white, balding, in his 60s, with a heavy build and salt and pepper facial hair.

Police say the man was last seen wearing a dark-coloured tank top and dark-coloured pants. His vehicle has been described as a Ford Windstar-type van that is grey or brown in colour"

Have Iowa LE ever suggested if perp in E and L"s case, was likely a white Caucasion or not?

Personally, I am very skeptical as to the timing of the decision by Sheriff Tony Thompson, to announce ruling out MJ Klunder, as the primary suspects in EC & LC abduction/murder. Transparency in this investigation has not been one of the Sheriff's strong suits, imo... The reasons given for ruling MJK out seem very weak, and subjective at best, imo.

Uh...

Look up the only RSO in Readlyn and look at the cover photo. If it's the right one - he studied Agriculture and Life Sciences and has a picture of a fish right on the profile picture.

However, it shows the picture is from March 30, 2012 but there appear to be cuts/scrapes on his arm. And we all know the picture wasn't from March 2012 because all bodies of water are still frozen in Iowa in March...

BUT, his conviction was in May 2013 - after the girls - and his DNA would be on file...I wonder what he drove two years ago or where he lived at the time.

I'd hope to shout they've already looked into him...

The reason the investigation isn't 'TRANSPARENT' is because it is ongoing.

I'm on Madeleine's forum and seriously I am seriously tired of folks denigrating LE just because they haven't made an arrest.

These things take time and we as sleuths should know that.

They ruled out Klunder because they RULED OUT KLUNDER, there is no reason to second guess this or suggest LE are being hasty or ill informed.

We do not have a CLUE what case they have built so far but BECAUSE of the lack of transparency, we can all assume it is still ACTIVE, and still ongoing.

No LE releases the details of their investigation until AFTER the guilty verdict.

Thanks for posting an update....you never really know where information will come from. I'm pretty sure it was a local person at the time it happened, but people can "hit and run" so to speak. The person who did this may have picked up everything they owed and took off to any other state. Searching for answers and posting keeps the thread active and that's a good thing.

It's always interesting to follow trials and hear testimony and information that was never released prior. People think they know the whole story, when in fact, they do not. Case in point is the Bowe Bergdahl situation. He was being crucified by the media and others as a deserter. Now it's coming out that he had serious mental health issues, before his capture. You don't know the whole story until you have all of the facts.
