In my book, if a small town like the one I was raised in or the one I live in now, has both a break in at a local store and a person disappearing in the same night...then there's nothing usual about it.

Usually when you look at the crime reports for small towns, even break ins are few and far between. I am sure police are looking for a connection. Like could someone have been stealing tools useful for restraining another person...or for cleaning up a mess. I hope that's not the case and it's just a major coincidence though.

I live in a small town, which I think is pretty safe. But a break in and a missing person in the same day would not be remarkable. It would be a busy day for the local cops who get about three to five calls a day, but nothing really unusual.

she could have had other from prior years.

It is possible that they always wore "red" shirts to identify the helpers if a child got lost.

Perhaps the workers wore shirts from previous years or the newest one - just as long as it was "red" and it identified where they worked (the logo, etc.)

O/T - a tiny suggestion as to something I've found helpful when I get frustrated with this case/ this thread is to head elsewhere in the site and see if I can contribute anything to any of the other cases that are under discussion. YMMV but it helps me reset myself :)

That’s where the relationship between Brooklyn and Deep River / Guernsey is diffent. They’re not likely to go in the same direction. The Deep River / Guernsey folk are linked to the communities to their south.

The population of Guernsey is less than 100 and the population of Deep River is under 300. Where do these folks shop? Do they pay their electric bills somewhere other than Brooklyn? What "communities to the south"? They are all on the other side of 80. Do they head for Montezuma?

I was struck how the Poweshiek County seat is not the most populous. That is Grinnell. By a large margin. Of course Grinnell has a college there too which may inflate their numbers Grinnell College is reportedly considered one of the Hidden Ivies schools. I was surprised there was such a school in Powershiek County.

So you're thinking that she went for a run and planned to pick up the car at the same time? I think this is where mom is perplexed - that she was seen running before she may have been doing homework, although isn't the timeline for homework somewhat in question?
Yes, I think it's possible. I guess cuz that's what I would do. I think she did homework till 7:45, sent a Snap to DJ, then went for a run

@MassGuy

According to this data, the intimate stalker type is far more likely to become violent.

I found it very informative. Thanks for the dialogue, and for welcoming me. Until next week...
I still keep hearing echoes of Ted Bundy -- *advertiser censored*/then stalking/ then peeping tom/then kidnap/then rape/then rape and torturous murder/cleverly hiding their bodies/left no physical clues until he got sloppy at the end. Gave rides to hitch-hiking women. He stalked and selected several young women - college campuses or quiet neighborhoods. Several women were taken from their beds in houses, apts., where others lived. Handsome, intelligent, educated, glib. He left town when things got hot and moved to another state to do the same.

What has shocked me the most, was the number of people in this community stating they don’t lock their doors at night. We live in rural TN and our doors are always locked. When my husband and I went on vacation, we got a security motion alert and it was a video of my 23 year old son locking the front door before going to bed.

I have the Fitbit Ionic. It uses Bluetooth, Wifi and has it’s own built in GPS. Doesn’t need a phone to update fitness records like the others. It has it’s own IP address as well. So, these types of trackers do exist!

Here is a link that explains more. https://blog.fitbit.com/phone-free-fitbit-ionic-features/
The way I read that...yes, the Fitbit Ionic collects and displays more data than other fitbits, BUT it still doesn’t upload that data to the Fitbit servers until it syncs with a phone. It would need WiFi or cellular capabilities to do that. Do you pay a separate fee for cellular for the Fitbit Ionic?

If the Authorities think the bald guy (WC) is likely the guy, this is most timid, passive, and meek LE that was ever assembled.

They would be more aggressive if they thought he was the guy. Backhoes would be digging up his property a week ago. They would have stadium lighting brought in from Denver, and the skies would be full of Helicopters.

.

This isn't the movies.

Yes. They did large on the ground volunteer searches of the fields, drone searches from the air, had dogs out, and the sheriff was quoted early on saying he was confident that every piece of land, building, outbuilding, etc., had been searched. They definitely also asked everyone to check their own land.

ptandj - there was something he said right after what you posted that gave me pause. I can't recall the exact working. Do you recall the newscast or the date when he he said that?

Jmo it gets out within hours...or sooner. They cannot hide all the vehicles involved when a body is found and the media, or some media, is surely watching...
When a missing person is found, regardless if alive or deceased, LE has to follow the law/procedures regarding when it has to be reported to the public I don’t know OH laws but where I live it’s within 24 hours of discovery when it’s a missing persons case.

Look, lets just look at what we know

Even though someone very close to her seems the most likely scenario to me. Second to that would be someone connected to someone close to her. Third would be someone geographically close. In this last category is the Pig Farmer. So looking at this 3rd possibility because the FBI has talked with him again and apparently he has refused a polygraph.

Stop reading now if you are easily upset or grossed out.

Ever hear of Robert Pickton? He was a killer apparently that fed people to pigs. I did some research and found that pigs can cut through bones like butter and that as few as 5 adult pigs could consume a human in less than 1/2 an hour. Digestion of course would take longer.
I'm pretty sure that a pig farmer of average intelligence would be aware of this sort of thing. Although it would take a sociopath to actually do it. Anyone have an idea of how many pigs are at that location? I would not be surprised if its more than 2o.

I feel like all the speculations, this is getting too far into the weeds... bring it back on into the stables now peeps and like pp said.. stick to what we know for sure.
im sticking with my theory based on what ive read and watched and its nothing more than speculation of course without any validation. But I believe she was in the house, that someone had followed her, seen her as she was out and about for her walk and run, and followed her from a distance to see where she was staying. He came back sometime after ten through a possible unlock now, we learned may have been unlocked. Perhaps on the side of the house not the main entrance. Made hes way upstairs to where she was on her computer, i dont think she was in bed, but still online doing something,.........the dogs may had been in the basement because at night when one sleeps they put the dogs in the basement instead of letting them Rom the house when everyone sleeping. So perhaps she put their in there preparing for bed or already in bed if not still setting on line..........I think she put the dogs in the basement because it was late and she just didnt want to be bother by them. Perhaps they were barking constanly for some reason or acting strange, so she put them in the basement so she could concnetrate on what she was doing. If may have never dawn on her the dogs were reacting to a possible intruder or strange noise coming from downstairs or outside so she just put them the basement.
