The article was from a newspaper, it can be read here:
Boyfriend of missing Iowa woman vows to 'never stop' searching

The quote is "On Monday, FBI officials received a search warrant to get inside the home where Tibbetts was staying for the summer with her boyfriend, his brother and his brother's fiancé."

Then the article about the pig farm is here: Tibbetts search team scours land near Iowa pig farm

and the quote says "A pig farmer said FBI investigators arrived at his home last Friday and asked to search it without a warrant."

Just seems like an odd difference? Wouldn't the boyfriend just want them to get in the house asap?

Regarding the bf’s house - My thoughts are that because there are 4 adults living in the home, le wanted to cover all bases. Technically an owner could give permission to search, but it becomes a gray area for people who live in the home. Are they paying rent? What is the reasonable expectation of privacy? Better to be on the safe side if they did find evidence as a result of the search. Also did I read upstream somewhere that the house actually belongs to the bf’s brother or his fiancé?

I think NewYork was just stating there had been human remains found in the area, so there maybe a single one person taking these lives (serial killer) rather than those remains being Mollie.
It was also 1400 miles away in SW Utah.

I would love to see someone put together a bullet point post of what we do know at this point... Example:
-MT vanished between 7 pm of the 18th, thru 7 am of the 19th
-WC claims to have been interviewed by LE up to 5 times
And on and on... Then, do the same for the most plausible theories
If I didn't have 12 hrs of work in front of me today, I would attempt it. That, and I have horrible ADD...
I'm thinking that would be a great tool going forward, keep us all from going back over things...
Wishing you all peace, and hoping MT is found safe soon...
Timeline of the disappearance of University of Iowa student Mollie Tibbetts

Here's a good starter.

That might be again where “Iowa Nice” comes in. I doubt statistics are kept, but I’d venture to guess a very high percentage of requests to search are granted here. I was asked a few years ago if my car could be search after a speeding stop, I said sure without ever thinking of what you just mention.

I would never let anyone search anything at any time. Period. Bad things happen. And on the advice of my son who is an attorney.

Mollie Tibbetts video shows her acting ‘totally normal’ the day before she vanished, friend says

A video of Mollie Tibbetts taken the day before she disappeared shows the college student was in good spirits – and that she was her “normal, outgoing, happy self,” Tibbetts' friend tells Fox News.

“She was totally normal that day,” Ritter told Fox News on Wednesday. “All of her actions were the same as they had been previous days. She hadn’t been talking about anyone suspiciously or randomly. She was her normal, outgoing, happy self.”

A new theory I read earlier not my words...

'Obviously this is all speculation, BUT I spent a good amount of time reading through Mollie's instagram, twitter, and vsco accounts, combined with all the interviews and updates, and I believe she was having a fling and that the mother was aware of it, and something went wrong. Here is why:'

  1. The Mom didn't act like it was unusual for Mollie to skip dinner after confirming she would be there. This is a huge red flag immediately. Mollie and her mother are close enough (physically and emotionally) that the mother invites her over for dinner and Mollie accepts. Mollie's mom knows she's home alone, and is expecting her for dinner yet doesn't send a single text asking where she is, what's going on, or anything of the sort.

This could possibly make sense if the mom assumed Mollie was out with friends, but she doesn't say anything like that, and in fact I haven't seen anything about Mollie having friends in Brooklyn at all.

The reason she wasn't worried about her not showing up for dinner, and the reason she acted so nonchalant in the interviews is she knew her daughter was having a fling, and that is why she didn't show up.

  2. Mollie had no car. She's having a fling, the BF is out of town but she can't drive anywhere, and she lives in a tiny town where she can't change socks without the neighbors noticing. So how do you meet up with the fling?
    Run.

She couldn't get into some strange car in her driveway without alerting the local Gossip Girls, so she agreed to meet up with her fling in a much more secretive way. So she put the dogs in the basement, got her running gear on and headed out to meet the fling and location they agreed on.

  3. LE know she left and didn't return, and this is why the house was never searched. They know she left to meet someone.

  4. This is the reason for the strange "It is not consistent with her past." quote from LE.

  5. This is the reason they continue to push the reward money, they know she left to meet someone and are desperately holding onto hope that they can buy her back.

  6. I believe Dalton was suspicious of something which is why he immediately left his job site and drove home when she didn't show up to work.

  7. I believe the Dad had no clue about the fling but sometime between the two press conferences he became aware and that was the reason for his change in demeanor.

  8. Something went wrong, and we don't know what. I think she got into a vehicle somewhere, and that is basically all that they know.

  9. I think they questioned WC because he was the closest creepy dude around. I don't even think her cell phone pinged near his location because that would have been good enough to get search warrants, and yet WC voluntarily let them search everything and even gave them his phone. He has nothing to do with this.

  10. I think the case is cold, and they will make the announcement in a week or so.

Remember these things:

1. Perps do things in bursts. Like they get on a binge.
2. It is well known serious deviants may be active, then inactive for long stretches of time. Then they offend again. There are many reasons for that.
3. Do not ignore young, immature men who become fixated and obsessed with a woman. Things can get out of hand if they get too fixated.
4. Rare but some serial perps travel long distances. That doesn't happen every day, but in this case, things are obviously not your every day disappearance.

New member here.

I've been reading about the case for a few days, and I'm sorry if this theory was already proposed. However, it would fit into the alleged timeline of Mollie's disappearance.

So, as far as I know, it seems like Mollie made it back from her run, and she was doing homework in the evening. I wonder if something like this happened:

Mollie is doing homework in the evening, and the perp rings the doorbell. Mollie goes to answer the doorbell, and the perp says some falsehood like, "My car broke down," or something similar to that.
Mollie goes out to help, and the perp proceeds to abduct her then and there.

Again, it was just a thought I had, and I'm sorry if it has already been proposed. If there is something that I'm missing, which makes this proposal impossible, I would be glad to know.
That was one of my theories early on, and I still think that Mollie may have been taken by an acquaintance using a ruse such as you describe. But now I think that she may have done her homework first and then gone for her jog, just based on her running clothes, earbuds, phone, and Fitbit being missing. Either situation is possible, given what little we know today.

I read about highway signs in IA. I was interested in trying to learn when and if they were used in this case?

I never saw any image of a single highway reader board alerting folks. I do assume someone keeps records for this sort of thing.

What I did find was apparently lawsuit after lawsuit between the IA DOT and various locales about cameras. Apparently these cameras are the kind that generate traffic tickets. Apparently the cameras catch alot of folks and a great deal of tickets are generated and a Judge told the DOT in 2015 they could turn the cameras off in some places.

This matter went all the way to their State Supreme court when in April 2018 the Court said the cameras could be turned back on. BUT I couldn't find where there was any notification or follow up the cameras had been turned on. And could these sort of cameras be important when a person goes missing? May not have a bunch of data to carry to court for specific cameras but isn't it more the way they create a net and are available. It only takes one image from one camera. NYC has cameras for all of their tunnels and they have a network of cameras throughout many places in the city.

So I am sitting here wondering - did someone KNOW they could go to Brooklyn, take Mollie, and get to X because the highway or street camera were turned off?

Sure would like to hear from someone closer who knows if the highway reader boards were used? If they provided a link to a website where one could see Mollie's photo? And exactly when it happened? Considering the wide window 7:30 PM to sometime before 10:30 AM for something to happen and then the delay of ? hours for her to be reported missing on the 19th - the grid would have extended to i80 and hwy 6 immediately as of her being reported. What exactly did the SHERIFF's office do to cast a wide net ?

Did IA work with IL and MO to get the information on their reader boards too?

I couldn't find much on the SHERIFF's website - nothing immediately added to their home page. Still nothing.

Agh! I lost track of this discussion when the thread closed a couple of days ago, and totally missed threads 15 & 16. Just discovered we’re well into thread 17. So, apologies is this has already been discussed, but...

The video of her from the day before she disappeared, appears to be at the summer camp where she worked (by kids in the background), answers 2 open questions to me.
  1. She was wearing a pink and white t-shirt, so camp counselors did not wear red shirts to camp every day. The red shirts were likely just for field trips.
  2. The Fitbit she was wearing appears to be an Alta or a Charge, with an aqua band and a black display.
New video of missing Iowa jogger from day before she went missing

Probably doesn’t help much in finding Mollie, but I know these questions have come up more than a few times.

Good spot, I think it's more likely to be the Charge 2 Fitbit as one of the standard colours is the aqua band, and I can't see that colour available for the other models. It also looks like the right size for the charge 2 as it's a little wider than some of the others.

This device records heart rate, but isn't one of their "smart watches" so doesn't have GPS built in, but instead relies on the phones GPS to record location data.

I've got this same device (and an iPhone), and I've spent the last couple of days working out when the fitbit syncs with the iPhone (and also importantly when it doesn't !), the information about syncing on fitbit's own website is not that helpful (and sometimes wrong), so it's taken a while to reach some conclusions.

When it syncs is important, as that's the last set of information LE would have (without actually having the fitbit itself).

I'll post my findings later, once I've completed a couple of last tests...

Was trying to reply to I’m Someone’s post and my reply got into their quote. It made it look like I hadn’t posted anything but the quote. Sorry! This was what I was trying to say:

We've spoken before about the wide ripple effect caused when someone goes "missing."

Aside from Mollie's loved ones and friends, today I thought of the children at camp who have gotten to know Mollie this summer.

The disappearance of Mollie affects a wide cast of people who are grieving over Mollie missing from her lives right now.

It is clear that Mollie has touched the lives of many, in such a positive way, over her years spent in that area. As well, people from her university who know Mollie as well.

My thoughts were about all of the "collateral damage" people suffer over the spectrum when someone who was in their lives - is now missing.

This is deeply saddening.

Just read this on Reddit a new theory...perhaps
Obviously this is all speculation, BUT I spent a good amount of time reading through Mollie's instagram, twitter, and vsco accounts, combined with all the interviews and updates, and I believe she was having a fling and that the mother was aware of it, and something went wrong. Here is why:

  8. Something went wrong, and we don't know what. I think she got into a vehicle somewhere, and that is basically all that they know.

  9. I think they questioned Cheney because he was the closest creepy dude around. I don't even think her cell phone pinged near his location because that would have been good enough to get search warrants, and yet Cheney voluntarily let them search everything and even gave them his phone. He has nothing to do with this.

  10. I think the case is cold, and they will make the announcement in a week or so.

If you open up a private conversation I would be interested to see what you read or saw that Lead you down the path to this theory. It should not be done here though.
