He didn't say it was him and DeOrr. He said that it was not him and DeOrr, he said that no one left the area once they returned from the store at about 1:10pm, they were not at the store at 6pm Friday as he was with S&R until early Saturday morning. The sole issue was the insinuation that it was them because of the black truck.

He says it was him. Just earlier in the day.

The strange thing is, if there was no sighting why was Vernal so eager to say that the sighting of a filthy bawling kid was of him with DeOrr?

I think it fit in with his chain of lies, as in "that sounds good, let's run with it".
Still catching up so bear with me and my comments.

VDK confirms in the 1st video that the sighting was him. He disputes the time

VDK and JM lost me at the first interview. VDK with his feeble attempt at humor about not even knowing what day it was, to his blathering on to maintain control. IMO, JM had an "are we done yet?" expression.
I will also add that I would not be surprised if little DeOrr was sold, but to a family, not into child slavery or something else unimaginable. If VDK and JM had financial problems and one or the other didn't have a particular fondness for the boy I could see it happening. Not a popular theory, I know. I'm sure all computer history has been investigated. In my heart I don't think this happened but I do believe he suffered at the hands of one or both of his parents either before or after the arrival at the campsite.
Couldn't JM have held little DeOrrs blanket a little closer to her? I would have been holding on for dear life if my child was missing. Again JMO.

I think LE has a witness list that includes some of the folks from Leadore. Their protection has to be considered so I would expect silence on the subject.

Actually, I noticed she held that blanket to cover her left hand pretty much the whole time. At the time, I was trying to see if she had an engagement ring on her finger, but couldn't make it out.

Nothing the parents have said carries any measure of truth for me. I don't care if they said the stopped off at the moon & had a pic with Santa to back it up. Unless it came from SB or perhaps Vilt/Klein I just st can't consider it. The clerk doesn't remember a little boy? He wasn't there. SB says there maybe a sighting of him in the back seat, but not specifically where/when right? I know they both got out the drivers side to pump, right? Love to know if that possible sighting described baby Deorr as an alert, happy kid in his car seat, crying, maybe sleeping? I'd love to know. Reflecting back on when my kids were little. If one of them was raising hell in the car seat I can see both parents getting out & letting the kid finish the fit out of earshot, but safely secured. Of course, what normal people do is not in the wheelhouse of what these two have done. So toss that theory right out the window. I cannot wait until we see some arrests.

I listened to JM's unedited 911 call again more carefully and here is what I get:

~1:40 there is the first background chat at the 911 dispatch centre
From ~2:22 I hear a lady say Vernal...alright.....( can't make out what is said)....we'll call you back if we have any more questions, OK
~3:59 dispatcher talking to JM relays info to a man about location and man responds: Yeah, I know where it is (it sounds like SB to me but that is probably just local accent!)

Also from the language of the dispatchers, I don't think anyone stayed on the line until LE got there like I've speculated before.

So I'm more confused than ever about these 911 calls. It seems like Vernal's 911 call came in at ~2:29:44 yet the times only Klein provided go against that. And there is nothing heard or mentioned of GGP's call. I see a few more people are asking questions on KIC's page now so hopefully it can be clarified somewhat.

One question I'd like to ask (assuming JM's 911 call was the last of the three) is it normal for the third 911 call received to be the one released? Or is it simply the media requested the 911 tape, got asked which of the three they wanted and picked the mothers?

Typing about the man who was staring at DeOrr made me wonder WHEN and WHERE that was supposed to have happened. Does anyone remember? I also wonder if those 2 ate the French fries they said were for DeOrr. Don't mind me, but my mind takes some nasty turns.

The more I read and think I learn about this case, the more I am leaning toward drugs. That never crossed my mind before and there doesn't seem to be any evidence of it. However, I'm well acquainted with a few druggies, and you can't believe a word they say. Kind of reminds me of this case. Problem is, in this case, I'm not sure I can believe much of what ANYONE says.

The creepy guy was in Leadore, at the store. No one remembers him, no one in town saw him, he isn't a local. He wasn't stalking a family of blonde boys in Swan whatever. Although there were said to be sketches from both creepy guys, none ever appeared in public.

I think it was Klein that said there is no drug connection. So, no drugs unless you want to talk about booze. Booze is legal and causes more deaths than all the illegal stuff combined. It doesn't take being a gasoline huffer to go bat chit crazy, booze does it all the time to people. And booze makes people pass out, black out, lose memory and sense of time.

Unless SB is lying when he says that no one saw this child and I don't think he is, then let's put an end to this rumor.

Why do you keep bringing this forward? For at least the THIRD time, no, he did not say he was there at 6pm, he said "it was me", meaning that it was him with the baby, but earlier in the day when they went to the Stage Stop "as a family", NOT at 6pm. And yes, it has long been established that JM presented it as a rumor.

Based on these people being the total opposite of regular... I worry the family isn't pressuring them or making them own up. I know if something happened to kids in most families the mother & mother in law both would serve as jury, judge & exacutioner in short order. Based on people who know them I am venturing to guess that they aren't quite covering for JM/VDK as much as they MIGHT be in such denial & shock over the whole thing.

Ths is true. It has always been referred to as a rumor, but I think some people must think there is some truth to it, because many have speculated that maybe this happened on Thurs night. I think it was a rumor that the parents tried to twist to their advantage. Because the only person on earth who I know has said this rumor was partly true was DK and we all know that he has a little lying problem--ok, kind of a really big lying problem!

I think TeaTime might be mistaking that posters here are confused about whether the sighting was a rumor. We know that very well it was a rumor. We are just pointing out how strange it is that DK said it was him (now who believes that nonsense?) So no need to preach to the choir.

Let's all hold virtual hands and say together: We know that the 6 PM filthy bawling boy sighting was a rumor!!!

Sheriff Bowerman said the parents can't tell the same story twice.

I am so curious about the documentary film crew that came to Idaho Falls to interview the family. The crew was doing a story on unexplained cases of missing children. Maybe a Big Foot connection, or possible alien abduction. FWIW.

I just know the FBI agents were eager to get their hands on that video. I think there's a 99% chance the parents told yet another untruth about what happened on the mountain.
