Worth noting that early estimates of how old remains are often turn out to be far different after detailed examination or consultation by specialists. So while it's not likely these remains are DeOrr's, it's still possible.

Update on East Idaho News website, remains are not Deorr.
https://www.eastidahonews.com/2017/...child-found-are-absolutely-not-deorr-kunz-jr/

“There is no way the remains could be that of DeOrr Kunz,” Elmore County Undersheriff Greg Berry told EastIdahoNews.com. “Absolutely not possible, these bones have been in the desert a lot longer than that.”
The undersheriff went on to say the preliminary estimates are putting the remains in the desert at between 15 and 20 years old.

I have thought a few times in this case that DeOrr could of been placed somewhere far from what was his home. Wasn't dad a long haul trucker?

On a map showing the place the remains were found I read "Snake River" to the West and some alarming bells were ringing ....
Hopefully they will do a Forensic Facial Reconstruction! :waiting:

They could have driven from their home in Bonneville County to Elmore County (where bones were recently found) to Lemhi County (where they went camping), but that's a long, long drive.

Would be nice finally to learn of the destination of VDK's long distance trips.

The highway from Idaho Falls to Boise follows the Snake River valley. It's not next to the river the whole way, but there are hundreds of places.

I have followed this case since day 1, and I keep hoping something of the little guy will be found. I just wish G-grandpa would talk. I think he holds the key. No one's going to forget about you, little man.

I hope it's Deorr, but unless they were smart (and heartless) enough to bury him naked, I think there would still be clothing fibers after less than two years.

Here is the FB link to the press release about an hour ago. In the comments someone mentions a little girl missing from Nampa, but I don't know how long. Apparently the location of the bones is in the opposite direction from their home and Leodore.

I agree Lilibet. I'm not sure how other tribes do their burial, but the Cherokee would gather around when death was imminent for a member of the tribe. After the person took his last breath, the women sang a lament, repeating the person's name over and over, and the men covered their heads with ashes. Formal mourning lasted seven days. On the mornings of the sixth and seventh days, the family went to the grave site where the women wailed. On the seventh day, the family joined the community at the town council house for a meal. The other community members offered their condolences to the family and engaged in a ceremonial dance.
After the person died, a family member washed the body, using water, lavender or boiled willow root. The body was then anointed with lavender oil, as lavender was believed to cleanse the body of impurities. Not only the body of the deceased, but the house in which he died and his family were viewed as unclean. "The personal belongings of the deceased were either buried with him or burned at the grave site,". The priest performed purification rituals for the home and family.
If it was an indoor burial, Cherokee tradition mandated a person was to be buried on the day he died or the next day. It was the priest's job to bury the body, "either in the floor directly under the place where the person had died, under the hearth, outside near the house, or in the case of a distinguished chief, under the seat he had occupied in the town council house.

My apologies for such a long post, but our people were a stickler for rules. I can't see this being a Native child. JMO though.

What I never thought of: maybe, grandpa and IR did a trip days before the camping trip and they hid the body somewhere ... Vernal and Jessica did their job as always to have an alibi. - Would be advantageous to know IF they both, Bob and IR had been "on the road".
Maybe, IR learned perfectly the story he had to tell afterwards (after little Deorr was "missing") and self-opinionated grandpa could not exactly sort the details when he was asked.
Maybe, the used vehicle was never identified because of "wrong time" (before the camping trip) and "wrong owner".
All IMO and only my thoughts.

It would be nice to know what exactly Vernal was doing (and where) on the days the leading up to DeOrr's "disappearance." So many rumors and no one seems too interested in setting the record straight.

I've never watched this interview by CB in its entirety, some points brought out:

Klein: JM stated when she was down at creek, she looked back and saw little Deorr going back up the hill toward camp. According to their time / distance studies, she couldn't have seen him.
What fish, there were no fish, water was running too fast.
Dog did hit, but not in area Vernal described.

Frank Vilt: JM stated she repeatedly "looked back" at little Deorr. Why would a parent repeatedly look back if they left a child with a grandparent.
In spite of them lying to him, he now believes that VDK is oblivious to what happened. He believes him when he said "Frank, that's my flesh and blood. I would die for him."
He believes there is a chance it was a pre arranged adoption by JM.

JM: She was trying to pick up the pieces of her life and she found happiness.

Does anyone know if the dog that hit was a SAR dog or a cadaver dog? I assume a SAR but either IDK or just don't remember. TIA

Hi Neesaki,

This video at the 5:00 mark, Klein says it was a cadaver dog that hit on some equipment.
If I remember correctly, there was also an area near a dam or lake above the camp where a cadaver dog hit. That was where some people left the ashes of a loved one.

Yes, I remember now. I think what I'm confused about is that Klein said "but not in the area VDK described", and I wondered if that was the area that he said that Deorr was playing in, etc. Which could lead to a hit by a SAR dog, yet if little Deorr was at the campground, I would assume his scent would be pretty much everywhere. I mean, I assume VDK didn't describe the area that little Deorr had an accident or anything that would be where a cadaver dog hit. Oh well, I think I'm confusing myself more. I should just stop thinking about it. Someone please bring that baby home!

Yeah, I'm confused about the whole case so I keep it simple in my head for my own sanity. lol

I desperately want the authorities to find Deorr so these people can be held accountable for whatever happened to him.

It concerns me that this baby's case is going to the bottom of the list. That's not acceptable to me. Ok, I won't say what I really want to say about the low lifes that caused this baby to go missing. So I'm just bumping for this defenseless little boy whose family doesn't seem to give a damn about. :tears:

I agree, it's all very sad. Sending Prayers that little DeOrr is found soon wherever he is, :(

Thank you for sticking with us, Karinna. Have no doubt that little Deorr is worth it.

He is absolutely worth it!

Thanks neesaki. I always come here to check new posts about DeOrr, hoping everytime there is a breakthrough in his case. There are others too like Haleigh Cummings & Kyron Horman. It's all so sad & frustrating they have never been found either.
