Seems the coroner wants his 15 minutes more than anything else. What has he helped by his comments?

They need to make up their mind where he was shot. It's a different place every other day..........

Very interesting info on this update. This may be behind a paywall unless you have registered or are willing to register with the Tribune, but let me summarize a couple interesting updates:

According to Coroner Rudd, the fatal shot was to the torso.

According to Rudd, the reports of a shot to the back of the neck are inaccurate, though he would not conform how many gunshot wounds there were.

Rudd is still unable to rule out a cause of death and all options, including homocide, suicide, accident, are still on the table.

A connection between the internal investigation at the FLPD and the death has not been rules out yet.

The rest I believe has already been discussed her.

The coroner has been talking some more earlier today. Several interesting things to note.

Chicago Tribune: Fox Lake officer's fatal wound was to his torso: coroner

The gunshot that killed Fox Lake Lt. Charles Joseph Gliniewicz was to his torso, Lake County Coroner Thomas Rudd said Thursday.

Rudd had said Wednesday that the 52-year-old officer died of a single devastating gunshot wound but he did not say where the officer was shot. He offered the new information Thursday morning, he said, to dispel rumors. Reports from local media that Gliniewicz suffered a wound to the back of his neck are inaccurate, Rudd said.

Rudd, who has declined to discuss other autopsy findings, did not say whether the officer suffered any other wounds.

The coroner said Thursday morning that he hadn't received the information from the police investigation that he needed to finish the autopsy report.

"... I cannot give a manner of death because I don't know what happened in terms of where did this bullet come from," he had said previously. "Right now, all unnatural deaths are up for suggestion. That means homicide, suicide, accident, undetermined."

Police have said they are withholding certain details about the case so as not to compromise the investigation.

At this image you can see trailers at the top center, iirc they are 53' long.

At the center just below the trailers is the rd and approximately where the car was found.

http://fox6now.com/2015/09/06/its-b...-prepare-to-say-goodbye-to-lt-joe-gliniewicz/

The lieutenant made the first call at 7:52 a.m. and called three minutes later to request backup. The backup units arrived at 8:01 and found their fellow officer dead, roughly 50 yards from his vehicle, at 8:09.

bbm 50 yards from the vehicle, that's 150 feet or three trailers. He was Probably found in the bottom center on the map picture. jmo idk

128 Honing is where MSM has reported his body was found. that is in the area with the mark for the Prairie Material Yard. It's the opposite direction from Precision Chrome.

Was Websleuths also wounded in the attack ? It seems to be going in and out of consciousness today.

I am a local and live a few minutes from the crime scene. I have been lurking on this thread and decided to sign up for an account. I agree 100% that they shouldn't be discussing details of the case. This coroner had no business releasing that detail without consent. They are purposely withholding key details because someone will slip up eventually that knows details that were not made public. I believe the Brown's Chicken Murders killer was caught years ago because a witness who testified against him knew a key detail that was never released (that a person vomited on the floor as they were dying). GI Joe is Dead.. It doesn't really help the public if it was his head or any other place. He is still dead. Although this investigation seems a but uncontrolled, but need to let them do their jobs.

Lake County Authorities Blast Coroner For Talking About Officer’s Death Amid Investigation
September 10, 2015 4:37 PM

http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2015/09...ast-coroner-for-talking-about-officers-death/

(CBS) – Lake County police officials have blasted Coroner Thomas Rudd for releasing information to the media about the fatal shooting of Fox Lake Police Lt. Joseph Gliniewicz.

Rudd told WBBM earlier this week Gliniewicz, 52, died of a single gunshot wound and died “fairly quickly.” The officer died Sept. 1 after he radioed he was in pursuit of three men. No arrests have been made.
The coroner said his office has not ruled out the possibility of suicide or accident, pending further forensic test results.

On Thursday, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office issued a news release in response, saying the Lake County Major Crime Task Force is “continuing to move forward” with federal authorities in pursuing leads in the officer’s death. This includes DNA material found at the scene of the officer’s death. Officials said it was inappropriate for Dr. Rudd to comment on the case at this time.

“Releasing information which is sensitive to this investigation puts the entire case at risk. All of the progress made since this tragic incident is potentially in jeopardy,” Task Force Cmdr. George Silenko (sic) said in a written statement.

I am unaware of any progress, but that's just me.
