:seeya: Please folks, keep scanner talk in the scanner forum. You can even open a special Abby and Libby thread down there. Let me know via pm if you need assistance getting one started.

:tyou:

ETA: I've opened a thread for you. Jethro4WS, this would be the place for you to post your work, and carry on a discussion. :thumb:

Liberty German and Abigail Williams Scanner Thread
Thank you.

No, but I appreciate you taking the time to look that up. I have a subscription to radioreference.com but what you have to find is someone that not only broadcasts that scanner on the internet but also has archived recordings so the scanner archives I have are all the ones via Broadcastify. Radio Reference is tied to Broadcastify where you can listen to scanners live all over the country. It is possible that some other site might have archived scanner recordings but I have not gone looking for them yet.

O/T Well, Jethro4WS, you might already know about this site, but I just went down this rabbit-hole:

https://archive.org/details/scanner_recordings&tab=about

(limited resources right now, but they may be growing the collection)

and the main page might be useful to others here, as they seem to have archives for all kinds of stuff (web, video, tv, print media, ...)

https://archive.org/

Sorry if this is old news to everybody. I'm a :newbie: (how long do I get to keep using that excuse?)

The beagle would be kind of big. Even a smaller one would be about 20 pounds.

I've wondered the same thing about BG using an animal as a lure. Did I read somewhere that one of the girls was a huge animal person?

I hope you found your shepherd. They're such great dogs. So smart and loyal. I still miss both my niece shepherds.

Oh and yes, too creepy about that guy. I would have been 100% weirded out by that too.

Yes I believe Abby's family asked that donations would go to animal charities aa she was a big animal lover.

And yes I sure did get my shepherd back I spent oh pretty much every waking hour searching for her and I finally found her deep in the woods. I agree German Shepherds are the best breed ever (including the mixed mutt type) that's all Ive mostly had my whole life.I've had at least one Shepherd at every point in my life and in addition to other breeds.

😀😀 at your edit to "include concern of creepy guy" lmao

Although it is frustrating, I keep trying to remember that often it does take longer than a month for an arrest to be made.

I'm thinking again of Morgan Huxley's murderer - they had CCTV footage of him and knew who it was from the very start. But it still took a month for them to get everything together and for their evidence to be watertight before making an arrest.

You're right. Makes me feel less pessimistic. Despite the apparent lack of movement.

While sleuthing for "tributaries" to Monon High Bridge, etc., I came across the most interesting document (National Registry of Historic Places). On page 8, there is a TERRIFIC map of the bridge, surrounding properties, cemetery, deer creek (I even noticed what seems to be a path leading from the cemetery to the creek ). This is a black and white map (drawn items), but has many great details (esp. page 8). I haven't read it all. It's dated 2002, so it's fairly recent. Thought it might prove worth sleuthing. It seems to be 65 pages long. It includes, describes (and has photos which you can zoom in) every building and structure and house on this 770 acres. Amazing bit of information.

People often ask what we can do if we can't sleuth everyone we want and since we don't have all of LE's info. This is a good example of what we can do! Thanks.

About two weeks ago I called in a tip. They asked me for my full name, address, phone# dob, it kinda intimidated me. Then they kept asking me how I knew what I knew and on and on, I felt interrogated. It really made me feel uncomfortable and I wonder if this is common?

O/T The same thing happened to me, but I considered it to be part of the "tip vetting" process. This is what I imagine the beginning of "checking" the tips is, or at least part of the process. I can't imagine how LE accomplishes it all!

He had control of them at the bridge though. LE said it escalated immediately after he said Get Down The Hill. So I honestly IMO don't think the dog in the jacket theory is plausible. I'm just going by exactly what LE said.

Yesterday I believe it was Sgt. Slocum in a radio interview said, "LE is not saying either way if the man in the photo and recorded voice are one in the same "! This Is not a direct quote.

I said something sort of similar to that many many threads ago that maybe he used a ruse like his puppy is lost and he saw it go run "down the hill " which would explain the nonchalant way in which he said it...because that's never sounded truly menacing to me ....like if someone just played that audio clip for me without telling me ahead of time what it was related to... I would not have guessed it was involving a murder case. so I've always wondered if he used some kind of trickery like that.

Which also reminds me of a weird thing that happened to me about 20 years ago when my German Shepherd was lost for almost 2 weeks. I was frantically searching for her. I had walked around many miles leaving printed Flyers and put an ad in the newspaper and everything. as I went searching through the woods for her everyday and one day I got a call and it was a man saying he has my dog and she's right there in his fenced yard ,hurry and come get her...I rushed over there and there was no dog at all, and when I knocked on the door the people at that address said they never called me and had not seen my dog.. . there were no other houses near there and then as I was talking to those people a car came past, slowed down, a creeoy guy looked at me and then sped away ... it really gave me the willies. I did report it to the police because it freaked me out and it also concerned the people whose doorstep I was standing on talking to... It scares me to think of all the possibilities .. Sorry to get so sidetracked..
I keep coming back to that - over and over. We are "dog people." We have four of a very flashy fuzzy breed that we take everywhere with us and they always draw a crowd. And I am always shocked at the children who will try to follow us when we leave! I can totally see a child/teen being duped into helping "find" a dog. No doubt as a young kid I would have too. GET this monster!!!!

Six weeks in, we have no way of knowing if this will become a long drawn-out case like Lyric and Elizabeth, or if someone will be charged fairly soon.

My feeling is that if LE eventually says that nothing was found in the search of RL's house and grounds, we could be in for a long haul. Stranger on stranger crimes are notoriously difficult, sometimes not solved unless the perp is caught later on for another crime. I have seen countless such cases on the old Cold Cases show.

Interesting. Last weekend, there was a similar tweet about taking some time to recharge and reset and let LE get reacquainted with their families. This was just after the search warrant was issued on RL's property.

In addition, today, it was also announced that they are "normalizing" and scaling back on support personnel.

It just seems that since RL was arrested and the SW served that things are shifting within the investigation and it's coming across as slowing down. I have not thought that RL was BG, but I also do not want to overlook the fact that the investigation is changing and has happened since his arrest and search warrant.

LE may still have to sift through 60 possible people of interest, but my opinion is that the investigation seems to be at a different place since the arrest and search warrant. I don't want to say it's less urgent but more along the lines of a shift in the investigation. Could be wrong, but my observation for whatever that is worth.
You may be right.

Just some thoughts on RL and BG. Let''s think through what it would mean IF RL encountered BG after the murders or even knew him before that. OK, then he would have had official contact with the perp and would have some really helpful info to give LE, once he understands who was found on his lower property. But then, RL thinks he has his own interests to protect, such as probation violations of any sort, and he wants to avoid any further upset in his life. So he doesn't tell LE the whole truth. Maybe he fudges a little but gives a few hints. (Remember, this is a hypothesis.) He still wants to exercise control over his life, but then LE puts him in jail for the probation thing. That's a total loss of control over your life, right there. So one would "assume" that at that point RL would come clean on everything he knows about BG, especially after RL passed the point of alcohol withdrawal. Anything to get out of jail and go home. But it doesn't seem like that last step has happened, does it? Unless RL really did meet BG but only gave him a ride somewhere on his way to the Fish Store (what an alibi) and really doesn't know what happened to BG after that. All of that is one train of thought.

I know that LE said they have 50-60 people to consider as suspects, but none of them had the girls deposited in their back yard, and none of them (that we know) have incurred a thorough search, complete with SW, of their premises. So the focus keeps swinging back to RL. He may very well not be guilty of anything but bad judgement and information hiding, but he is central to the case until and unless LE 100% rules him out as anything but an innocent PO.

For those who feel sorry for RL, nothing about this case is "fair". Not one thing.

So sad that this thread is no longer on "recent posts". :(

C'mon, LE. Please let us know you are on this.

Poor sweet girls. :(.

I think as humans especially in this time where news and general excitement are literally at our fingertips, a lot of people want instant gratification, action, adrenaline. They quickly tire when things slow down, and the thread grows quieter. HOWEVER, there will always be those of us who stick around regardless because it is important to us to see this through, to get justice for these two sweet girls...I for one am not going anywhere, I'm in for the long haul.

As long as there are some of us always thinking, talking about the girls, the case is never forgotten.

Regarding these pictures of BG, only the picture on the left is posted on the FBI website. Any thoughts on why the FBI would not have both pictures posted?

This is a little OT, but I once called in a stolen car, and gave tip as to who stole it, because it was my girlfriend's brother, and they actually said, "how do you know so much information, you were with him, weren't you." Talk about intimidation, and it certainly gave me pause about ever calling in another tip again. Praying for the families, and hope they catch this madman soon. Katt

I've been curious about that too. My opinion is that maybe the first picture is more representative of how he actually looks as far as in the face, but the 2nd picture makes it more clear that (in my opinion) he is wearing a hat. They look like completely different people. Other speculation was about the blur in the 2nd picture which many people believe to be Abby's sweater. I wish they would clarify which it is.

I agree, it's very different ever since the arrest & SW of RL. I sure hope it turns out to be him, because then the killer would already be in custody. :dunno:

The CSI effect. I feel that logic has left jurors. They require that cases be wrapped up in an hour with perfect evidence. They seem less able to follow circumstantial evidence to its logical conclusion and don't understand "reasonable" doubt which they confuse with zero doubt.

casey anthony is a prime example of that. And it's made prosecutors gun shy about filing charges. I think the Susan Powell case is a horrible example of that. Little Kyron Horman may be another.

Off topic: There's also the DHS effect! If more people were aware of the harms and dangers that happens in children's homes, their lives only to have the children sit within the court system for months, years and ultimately returned back to that home! No jury's in these cases only judges! Bad judgement and decision making just the same! It will be one thing to find and arrest BG and a very lonnngg another to finally get him or them sentenced! I think this forum is a great example of people showing up, giving interest and discussing! There should be much more of this!
