Testimony from Isaiah Hagan's mom highlights emotional day in court

Donna testified about a conversation she had with Isaiah while he was in custody at the Warrick County Sheriff’s Office. Donna told the jury, Isaiah admitted to shooting Rathgeber, but said it was an accident.

Hagan's attorney, Mark Phillips tried repeatedly to object to certain questioning. Ultimately, Donna's answers took Phillips by surprise.

“You prepare based on what you believe the testimony to be, and when somebody says something that's really out of left field and inconsistent with everything else that's ever been said, I just need time to digest it and prepare my cross-examination,” Phillips said after court went into recess Friday.

I can’t imagine being in his mothers shoes.

Do you know if his mom testified the same way in the first trial, or did they not get to her before it was a mistrial?

I am sure that he is surprised that a mother can tell the truth about what her son has done, instead of lying and protecting him.

I see the thread has been marked “guilty” but I can’t find a news story with information about end of trial. Only that trial will resume Monday. Perhaps the thread said guilty before and I’m just a bit slow today.

I’m not sure why the thread is marked guilty or when it was marked that way.. You’re more observant than I am because I didn’t notice.
I’ll alert the mods.

From that link:

"Monday, Donna said the missing Hi-Point 9mm belonged to her husband even though it was registered in her name. She also said Isaiah didn't know where her gun was."

"She also said her husband regularly switched license plates between two identical Ford Focus cars that the family owned."

Is she trying to rat out her husband here or something? Swapping license plates and having his wife register his gun seems kinda fishy to me.

Wow this trial is mind boggling, defense attorney has requested another mistrial. Judge denied it, attorney stated he will file a written appeal in the morning. Seems judge is running low on patients for DA antics. IMO

Why am I remembering something about concert tickets that Halee had that Hagan sold over she was murdered? Does anyone else remember that or maybe it was just a rumor I heard?

NM, I just googled it and found the info. He did do that.

From what I’ve read the trial doesn’t appear to be going in a positive direction for the defense. It’ll be interesting to see what happens if an appeal is filed.

I have a feeling the judge will deny it the minute he gets it . Moo
