@Dotta IMO the post by
@fred&edna to which you are responding very clearly states why it’s a fool’s errand.
IMO it’s an over-simplification to reduce this to “so, those who yearn for peace there are fools?”
Israelis and Jewish people in the Diaspora of course long for peace. They just want to live their lives. However, as pointed out by
@fred&edna, the thirst for peace is only one-sided.
What gestures of peace have been forthcoming by Hamas, Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad and all other terrorist groups? There cannot be peace on one side while war is still being declared by the enemy.
Israel is escorting Gazan infants to safety. Hamas threw an Israeli infant into an oven to burn alive, and mutilated, murdered, tortured or kidnapped many other babies, toddlers and children.
It‘s asymmetrical and Israel has been backed into a corner. Their only choice now is to destroy Hamas. Hamas made that decision for them on October 7th.
It‘s a fool’s errand to allow one side to be sitting ducks when the enemy does not yearn for peace as well; when the enemy has declared, and their mission statement boldly demands, the death of Israel, all Jews, America, and Western civilization.
Was World War II a fool’s errand? Yes, it was disastrous and so many military and civilians died. But the alternative was to allow Hitler to conquer the world.
You're in Poland so I know I don’t need to point out the cataclysm this would have been for your family, for the rest of Europe, and for the world.
On October 6th, those kibbutzim and festival goers were peace-minded. They had no idea the plans Hamas had in store for them.
IMO.
