Celtic fans are largely of Irish descent. Ireland has been supportive of the Palestinian people long before it became trendy in Europe. This is due to similar national histories:

- Colonized by a stronger power.
- Colonization was facilitated by land claims that locals view as legalized theft ("abandoned", "under utilized", forced buy outs etc.)
- Colonization featured the arrival of sponsored settlers. Settlers are then allowed to form sanctioned militias.

Of course, with any national histories, there is a mixture of fact and spin.

yes, they had their eyes open much earlier. some people need some time to open them.

Then what is the answer? Because Hamas leaders have continuously and consistently said that their mission is to clear the entire land mass of Jews. They want Israel to be exterminated.

And they begin teaching that hatred to the children at a very young age. They are indoctrinated against Jewish people.

October 7th showed Israel once and for all that they could no longer ignore that threat and that hatred. The people of Gaza need to choose a side. IMO

<modsnip - political commentary>

Yes, that we can agree upon. Now we need to come up with a real solution.

Hamas cannot continue. They cannot have any political power or any other power.

A distinction must be made between Hamas, a terrorist group, and Palestinians, people just like you and I. Because they are just like you and I and they have suffered greatly.

Israel cannot be rid of all Hamas. Again, we agree on this. So, is the constant bombing and depriving the people of Gaza water, food, housing and medical supplies the solution? I bet most of the remaining Hamas are not even in Gaza anymore.

Palestinians deserve a new start, in an independent democratic country, although seeing the destruction in Gaza, I don’t know how or when or by whom it will be rebuilt so that it can be habitable again.

In joint live chat on X, Elon Musk agrees with Netanyahu that Hamas must be destroyed

Elon Musk says during a live chat on X (formerly Twitter) with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that there is “no choice” other than to destroy the Hamas terror group in order to bring about a better future for Gaza, and agrees with Netanyahu that the terror organization has genocidal intentions toward the Jewish people.

US billionaire Musk, the owner of X and head of SpaceX, says though that he would like to help rebuild Gaza after the current war, and asserts that rehabilitating the territory is an important step to preventing future war.

“If you want security, peace and a better life for Gazans, then you need to destroy Hamas. You first have to get rid of the poisonous regime as was done in Germany and Japan,” says Netanyahu, to which Musk responds: “There’s no choice.”

A team of experts will fly to Qatar in the coming days to finalise a proposal put forward by the government of Cyprus to ship aid to Gaza by way of a ‘humanitarian sea corridor’ from the eastern Mediterranean island.

Following talks with Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in Doha today, Cyprus’s president Nikos Christodoulides confirmed the experts would visit the Gulf state imminently. The leader told reporters:

We agreed that in the next few days a technical team from Cyprus, our team of experts who are working on the details of our proposal, will be here in order to proceed with the implementation of everything as described in the Republic of Cyprus’s proposal.
Under the initiative large quantities of aid will be dispatched to the besieged coastal strip on vessels loaded at the port of Larnaca. Israeli agents would inspect the shipments both at the Cypriot port and once they were transferred onto ships.

Christodoulides has said the plan could be activated as soon as conditions on the ground permit, with Cypriot experts fine-tuning arrangements since it was formally announced in early November. Larnaca lies a mere 210 nautical miles away from Gaza.

The shipments would supplement the trickle of aid getting into the enclave via lorries crossing through Egypt’s Rafah checkpoint with sources describing a single shipment as the equivalent of 500 trucks of aid.

Qatar, which has played a crucial role mediating the four-day truce in fighting that is set to expire Tuesday AM in the event that an extension is not reached, is now believed to be working on plans to kickstart the maritime aid corridor as soon as possible.

The EU’s most easterly member state, Cyprus has good relations with Israel and the Arab world. Christodoulides has said the initiative highlights the strategic island’s ability to be “a bridge to the region.”

The Bibas family have just received word that Shiri, Ariel, and Kfir (pictured) are NOT included in today’s list of hostages released by Hamas. The father, Yarden is also held hostage but isn’t eligible for release as only children and women are part of what’s considered humanitarian basis. “We are thrilled for the families reuniting with their loved ones and will continue fighting until our loved ones are back”, the family said.

I'm just interested in why the usa and europe (i live in europe) are not consistent and do not impose sanctions on the israelis?

the israelis are massacring palestine and eu&usa are still silent?
