The Bibas family have just received word that Shiri, Ariel, and Kfir (pictured) are NOT included in today’s list of hostages released by Hamas. The father, Yarden is also held hostage but isn’t eligible for release as only children and women are part of what’s considered humanitarian basis. “We are thrilled for the families reuniting with their loved ones and will continue fighting until our loved ones are back”, the family said.

IDF: Hamas took Bibas family hostage on Oct. 7, transferred them to another faction

IDF’s Arabic spokesperson Avichay Adraee indicates to Sky News:

“Adraee explains that the family was taken hostage by Hamas during the October 7 massacre, and was then transferred to another Palestinian terror faction in Gaza. They are currently being held in the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis.”

Handover of hostages from Gaza should be complete within the hour, diplomatic source tells CNN

From CNN’s Becky Anderson

The handover of hostages Monday night from Gaza should be complete within the hour, a diplomatic source told CNN Monday.

This comes after the Israeli prime minister’s office said earlier Monday that families of the latest group of hostages expected to be released by Hamas have been notified.

Truce extension will go into effect after the release of hostages on Monday, Israeli senior adviser says

From CNN's Mitchell McCluskey

The two-day extension of the truce between Israel and Hamas will not go into effect until the hostages set to be released on Monday are freed, according to Mark Regev, a senior adviser to Israel's prime minister.

Regev confirmed that a truce extension had been reached and under the agreement, Hamas would release 10 hostages each day.

"For every 10 hostages released, we're willing to give an extension of another day, and if Hamas will release Israeli hostages as agreed we will extend — that's the bottom line," Regev said.

said he believes the hostages released over the next two days would be women and children.

The senior adviser credited US President Joe Biden for helping arrange the parameters of the deal.

"These were negotiated with the help of President Biden and we thank him for putting his effort and his office behind these arrangements. I don't think we would have reached the deal without his input," he said.

Absolutely unacceptable and part of the demonic game Hamas is playing.

Hamas stole them. Hamas runs the country. Hamas has to get them back immediately, from wherever they may be.

They are toying with the free world.

I wish Israel could say in response, “oh,oops, the prisoners we THOUGHT were in our system just aren’t there! We can’t give them back because we just don’t know where they could be!”

But Israel plays by the international rules. Hamas plays with the devil.

Palestinian Islamic Jihad Says It Won't Release Its Israeli Hostages

Benoit Faucon — Middle East Correspondent at The Wall Street Journal

“Gaza-based militant group Palestinian Islamic Jihad said it wouldn't release the Israeli hostages it held in the Palestinian enclave.”

[…]

"Until all Palestinian prisoners are released, the Zionist soldiers in our prison will not see the color of freedom," PIJ said in a statement posted by its ally, Lebanon's Hezbollah.

Palestine Islamic Jihad (PIJ)

The Palestine Islamic Jihad (PIJ) is a Sunni Islamist militant group seeking to establish an Islamist Palestinian state that is committed to the destruction of Israel. It is the second-largest militant group in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, founded in 1979 as an offshoot of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. The group has drawn inspiration from the Iranian revolution and receives support from Iran, Syria, and Lebanese Hizballah. PIJ’s military wing, al-Quds Brigades, has been responsible for many attacks on Israeli targets since the 1990s. PIJ sometimes operates in coordination with HAMAS, although the groups have had a tense relationship because PIJ occasionally disagrees with HAMAS’s strategy for confronting Israel.

OPERATING AREAS
Israel, the Gaza Strip, and the West Bank; maintains a presence in Lebanon and Syria and offices in Tehran

MEMBERS
Most sources estimate 1,000 members

TACTICS AND TARGETS
PIJ primarily employs small-arms and mortar and rocket attacks from the Gaza Strip against Israeli targets in Israel and the West Bank. The group conducted suicide bombings from the late 1990s to the mid-2000s. It also has man-portable air defense systems, mortars, armed unmanned aircraft systems, antitank guided missiles, and IEDs.

FOREIGN TERRORIST GROUP DESIGNATION
The US Department of State designated PIJ as a Foreign Terrorist Organization in 1997 and designated PIJ’s Secretary General Ziyad al-Nakhalah as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist in 2014.

“Qatar announces cease-fire to be extended for two days as Israeli PM's office says families of hostages expected to be released on Monday evening have been updated”

——

“According to the official, Khalil al-Hayya, Hamas managed to locate a number of additional hostages, allowing the cease-fire to be extended by two days. In an interview with Al-Jazeera, al-Hayya said he hoped the next phase – the return of hostages other than women and children – would begin immediately after the current cease-fire.”

In a flash, Melissa Joudah lost 60 family members and use of her legs

Deir el-Balah – About 4am one night during the second week of Israel’s bombardment of Gaza, Yasmeen Joudah woke up to her mobile phone ringing nonstop.
Astounded, she realised that people were calling to offer their condolences over the killing of her entire family.

Horrified, she ran through the pre-dawn streets to where her parents’ home once stood and flung herself on the rubble, scrabbling through the shattered concrete with her bare hands.
The Joudahs had been asleep when an Israeli missile targeted their four-level home, burying dozens of them underneath the rubble.

Yasmeen looked around helplessly as body after body was pulled out from under the rubble.
Then 16-month-old Melissa, her sister’s cheerful daughter who had just taken her first steps weeks earlier, was pulled out, completely still and quiet. Everyone assumed she was dead.

Shrapnel from the Israeli air attack had lodged in Melissa’s spinal cord, paralysing her from the chest down
Weeks later, Yasmeen’s grief wavers in her voice, her tears spilling down her face.
“Everyone is gone,” she said, speaking from inside the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital. “All five of my siblings were killed. My mother. My two aunts. Their daughters, their sons. My brother-in-law.
“I want them back. Bring them back to me,” she sobbed.

From her immediate family, Yasmeen counted 32 members killed, most of them women. Melissa’s father, his parents, his sisters and their children were also killed, bringing the total to 68 members of the Joudah family.

Hamas Hands Over Fourth Group of Hostages to Red Cross

“Hamas has handed over a fourth group of hostages to the International Committee of the Red Cross in Gaza, which is facilitating their transfer out of the enclave, Egyptian officials said.”

“The Bibas family were taken hostage from Israel into Gaza on October 7 but are not currently held by Hamas, the group that launched the attack, according to Daniel Hagari, spokesperson for the Israel Defense Forces.”

[…]

“The responsibility over all the hostages, including the Bibas family, held by other (militias) inside the strip, is exclusively Hamas’ responsibility,” Hagari said.

More than 40 of the hostages taken hostage on October 7 are not currently held by Hamas, a diplomatic source briefed on the negotiations told CNN earlier on Monday.”

MY OWN OPINION:
I don't understand Hagari's perspective. Were the children who were shot and killed at Robb Elementary the responsibility of the school shooter, or the police who were there to save them? Israel is clearly the stronger power with more intelligence, arms, and power here - they should be doing everything they can to ensure the safety and livelihood of the hostages until they are safely back home with their families. They have more control and knowledge than terrorist groups.
