A senior U.S. defense official said today that they are dealing w/ an "acute" environment of disinformation, w/ claims of attacks on U.S. forces in Middle East that have not happened.

If Hamas and other ISIS terrorists believe that their team bombed USA sites in Syria, they will feel the strength and aggression of their leaders, and be emboldened ... is that the idea?

'What we know

  • Hamas has released two more hostages. In a statement, the Qassam Brigades said the decision was made for "compelling humanitarian" reasons.
  • The U.S. is advising Israel to delay a ground invasion of Gaza to allow for more time for hostage negotiations and humanitarian aid.
  • Israel's military has stepped up its aerial bombardment of the Gaza Strip and renewed its call for civilians to flee south — though some are reluctant to leave their homes.
  • The U.S. and Israel promised a "continued flow" of aid into Gaza after the first convoys entered through the Rafah border crossing with Egypt over the weekend. Health officials warned that far more aid is needed.
  • The U.S. is boosting its military presence in the Middle East as it seeks to prevent a wider conflict. Clashes at the Lebanon border and what Israel said was a tank mistakenly striking an Egyptian position have added to fears of broader escalation.
  • NBC News’ Richard Engel, Raf Sanchez, Kelly Cobiella, Josh Lederman, Matt Bradley, Ellison Barber, Meagan Fitzgerald, Chantal Da Silva and Alexander Smith are reporting from the region.'

Shaking the captor's hand, she also said "Shalom". The Israelis are savvy and quick witted, especially this lady if she is the one who is a peace activist with her husband and often travelled within Gaza. Her husband is still a captive, and no doubt both these ladies fear for their husbands' fate. It might behoove her to appear "gracious" to the captor.

Remember the lady who spent some 10 hours feeding and chatting with those terrorists in her home, and survived?

How awful. :(
Joy at being free ... but the fear for their beloved spouses has to be overwhelming.

Canadian politician has been removed from office for endorsing barbaric, violent murders of Israeli civilians.

"Ontario New Democrats have kicked Hamilton Centre MPP Sarah Jama out of caucus, nearly two weeks after she posted a controversial statement in support of Palestinians.

I agree. I've noticed a pattern (a very noble one), with families of released hostages. They're overjoyed at the return of their loved ones (and rightly so), but still make mention and show concern for hostages still being held. That's a culture of life speaking.

I think all of the released hostages have other family members who remain as hostages. They have to be polite when they are released for the sake of their family.

Obama says Israeli actions in Gaza may “harden attitudes” for generations

Former US President Barack Obama has warned that some of Israel’s actions in its war against Hamas, like cutting off food and water for civilians in Gaza, could “harden Palestinian attitudes for generations” to come.

In a statement posted on the blogging site, Medium, Obama said that those actions could “erode global support for Israel, play into the hands of Israel’s enemies, and undermine long term efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region”.

He also condemned the Hamas attack on October 7, saying that he fully supports President Joe Biden’s call for the US to support Israel in going after the Palestinian group. Biden had served as Obama’s vice president from January 2009 to January 2017.
“Israel has a right to defend its citizens against such wanton violence,” he added. As president, Obama had frequently clashed on policy with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, leading to his failed effort to resume the Israeli-Palestinian peace talks.

Reports of Israeli forces operating inside Gaza at the moment, just west of the border fence. This **doesn't** mean a ground op has started. An Israeli soldier was injured, may be they entered to recover them.

And ... FINALLY some of Hamas' channels on telegrm are no longer available!! Took long enough.

Telegram has blocked access to some of Hamas' channels via their Google Play Store app.
What are your thoughts about China weighing in and wanting a de-escalation?

MSN

Zhai told Qatar's state minister, Mohammed Abdulaziz al-Khulaifi, last week that China condemned acts that harmed civilians, opposed moves that violated international law, and called on "all relevant parties to keep calm and exercise restraint".

"Qatar has an important influence on the Palestinian issue, and China is ready to maintain communication and coordination with Qatar to play a constructive role in de-escalating the current tension," he said, according to a Chinese readout.

On Sunday, Zhai told Chinese media that he spoke with his counterparts in Palestine, Israel and Egypt, among others. He said his visits with other regional leaders would improve coordination to help ease the situation.

Zhai said China was "deeply concerned" about the conflict spiralling, and described a "very serious" situation at risk of "increasing unprecedentedly" with a large-scale ground conflict.

"The spillover effects on the region and the international community are spreading and the prospects are worrying," he said.

"The top priority is for the parties to the conflict to immediately cease fire and cease fighting, abide by international humanitarian law, ensure the safety of civilians, and create necessary conditions for cooling down the situation and providing humanitarian relief," he said.

Why are retired presidents wading into the arena. Do they think they can do better than Biden and his advisors?

I disagree with the Chinese. The top priority is not an immediate cease fire, but for Israel, with the assistance of allies, to permanently remove Hamas from the position of government in Gaza.

As long as Hamas controls Gaza, new generations of ISIS-like terrorists will be trained to ruthlessly, without mercy, murder civilians. Hamas has to be removed, permanently. China feels safe today, but as Gaza Hamas ISIS populations double every 20 years, even China will feel the confrontation - eventually. 2050, 2070?

Well, their goal is, and has been, to kill all Jews.

I am not sure you can get much more "hardened" than that.

Just my thoughts.

Yes, and to raise another entire generation of Hamas ISIS terrorists in the Gaza government, soldiers who are indoctrinated to the point where they slit open the abdomen of a pregnant woman and kill her child - still attached by umbilical cord. That's beyond normal. People like that need to be incarcerated for life, but here we have an entire generation in Gaza who thinks this it okay, a proud moment to share with mom.

" ... textbooks teach the younger Palestinian generation the ideology of struggle against Israel, fundamental hostility towards Israel, refusal to accept Israel's existence, a disregard for the strong ties of the Jewish people to the Land of Israel and adherence to the so-called "right of return" of the Palestinian refugees. The ideology of struggle and hatred towards Israel is manifested, among other ways, in the PA's textbooks.

That blatantly contradicts the claim made by Mahmoud Abbas at the press conference he held with Donald Trump at the White House. Mahmoud Abbas said, "we educate our children, our descendants and our sons on a culture of peace. We are working to have them live in security, freedom and peace like the other children in the world, among them, children in Israel" (Wafa, May 3, 2017)."

Protests planned after death of Hamas leader in Israeli prison

Reporting from Ramallah, occupied West Bank
The Palestinian Prisoners’ Association are saying [in a statement] that a Hamas leader from a town in the occupied West Bank, who was arrested on October 9, [on Monday] died in custody. [The man was] called Omar Daraghmeh, he was a highly respected Hamas leader.

[The Israeli prison services] are saying that he was taken ill, that he was being treated in a clinic, an ambulance was called but by the time the ambulance arrived, he had died.
Hamas and Islamic Jihad are calling this a murder. They are saying that the Israelis have assassinated him. There have been protests in the town from which he was taken, Tubas, in the northeast of the occupied West Bank. There have also been calls for more protests in Ramallah [on Tuesday].

"highly respected" Hamas leader. What an oxymoron !

Perhaps they treated her with kindness out of respect for her age? Terrorist kidnappers treat their hostages as commodities.

JMO
What?? I’m not quite that old but damn, I see nothing kind, respectful or humanitarian in taking elderly people hostage.

Are we to now decide Hamas is something other than a terrorist organization because they released people they never should have taken hostage in the first place?
