It's WAYYYY back from the dam. Miles, in fact, I think. Honestly, I didn't remember it either until someone posted a pic. I kept trying to think of whether there was one right after you start climbing up from the dam into NV.

eta: I should say was. I'm reading it hasn't been needed since the bypass opened in 2010. The last time I'm sure I saw it was in early 2009 taking one of my kids to vegas for an event.

Didn't the forensics expert (who displayed the male genital photos say that he got those photos from the second hard drive, which he received with a casing that was in pieces (that he either put together or used his own?).

I know he said that drive was JA's - but isn't that where those photos were recovered from? Having been supposedly sent to her by Travis?

If so, then her drive can't have been completely destroyed. It's a mystery. I seem to recall that the DT wanted it's contents 'sealed' as well... I'm more confused than usual today, sorry everyone...

There has been surprisingly little computer forensics presented so far. Maybe there was little done?

I don't disagree at all.

I was simply repeating someone else's recollection of the testimony or other explanation regarding the position and use of the gate at the time of the murder and on following days.

The way the connection was made was that one of TA's roommate's GF was to care for Naps from June 4 - June 9, pre-arranged by TA.

This supposition (I believe it was couched that way, thus the use of the words "claimed", "supposedly" and "assumed" or "assumption") was simply that, a supposition.

This was certainly a premeditated murder, and that evidence trail starts much further northwest, well before the lying torture-murderess left Yreka for Mesa, her original intended destination for June 4, 2008.

bbm: I wonder why Travis would want someone taking care of Naps on those dates? His trip wasn't until the 10th, and I don't recall hearing anything about him being away from the 4th to the 9th...
...Plus, if the ex-gf DID come over on the 4th, wouldn't that be a potentially problematic situation - yikes! She'd probably call for Travis... those dates make no sense to me - but I think I understand that this was just conjecture on someone's part?

I wonder if Travis ever instructed anyone to put the gate up when he was away and Naps was taken care of by various sitters. I still don't see why he'd barricade the stairs and hall when they could keep the doors closed. But that's just me.

IIRC, when arrested Jodi had another rental car, and her mother asked about the 9mm and the police tracked the rental down and found it strapped to the engine.

Do we know why she had another rental car?

He said he was likely unconcious at that time and might even have been dead. It was before the gunshot since the throat slashing occurred in the hallway and the gunshot was back in the bathroom after Jodi dragged him back in there as th shell casing dropped on the bathroom floor on top of a pool of blood.

I am hearing/watching this for the first time and have to take breaks....I saw TA's sister leave, Bless their hearts, I don't know how they sat there as long as they did. OMG she sneaks looks at every one of the pictures...she is SO EVIL!!

My hubby said the very same thing. Who gives a flying flip if she has PTSD and what does that have to do with her murdering Travis in cold blood.

Its a farce diagnosis trying to explain her affect on the stand. Juan needs to ask him what are the traits of a psychopath and if he is honest it will fit JA to a T and fully explain how she acts.

It's kinda sad but I'm not convinced he'd even know the signs, much less diagnostic criteria, 'specially seeing as he is reading out of the DSM-IV on the stand.

I get the impression this doc has pigeon-holed Jodi into a diagnosis he already assumed - with a lot of help on her part; his knowledge of other areas of psychology, like personality disorders, is limited at best; and he himself has been snowed by her psychopathy.

But what a risk to take - suppose one of the roommates had something come up - and came to the house unexpectedly while she was there - or that someone else might drop by unannounced... It just seems incredible to me that she would leave that risk open. If her car wasn't there, she'd just hide in Travis' room - and while he was still alive, if this happened, he'd probably let her stay hidden if someone came by to see him.

You're probably right, but it just seems so... stupid for her to be so nonchalant about that. imv

One of the things I have said quite often here for 9+ years is premeditated murderers are some of the highest risk takers in existence . And then you add that they are a psychopath who has no fear and you have JA.

I don't think she ever panicked. She was cool as a cucumber throughout.

one thing seems to be missing from the shower. That seems to be soap or soap suds. can anyone else make out evidence of him actually "showering" from those pictures?

I posted this earlier. Most of the shower pics (JA's and LE's ) do not include the shower head. If you look at this picture, you can see a shower caddy with items on it.

I was shocked to see him read from the DSM-IV. I have never seen an expert do that. They should know that information like the back of their hand. He seemed clueless and maybe that's because he IS.:floorlaugh:

Yes, I have read how psychopaths can even fool psychiatrists and psychologists with years of experience. In this case if he really believes his spiel then he has been fooled by one of the worst ones.

My theory on the license plates is she took the front off and I'm not sure if she took the back off and when she replaced it, erroneously placed it upside down. Or if she put it upside down so as not to be detected on stationary video cameras placed around Mesa.

She rented a car, died her hair, had gas cans so no need to fuel up in Arizona, turned off her cell phone, used the Utah trip as her alibi.

When she was being questioned by Det Flores, she specifically said something to the effect, not exact quote, 'You can look at all the surveillance videos and you won't see my license plate anywhere or me in a car.'

That's why I think she did the license plates purposely.

Yes, but Det. Flores corrected her - she was talking (I believe) about traffic cameras - that they're everywhere. And he said they wouldn't record her plate unless she were speeding or ran a light (at an intersection with a camera - which are usually well labeled "Photo Enforcement In Use!" Or something. There were speed cams on the 101 back in 2008, but they've since taken them down.

If she really wanted to be incognito, you'd think she'd have gotten her hands on some AZ plates to use when she was in AZ... I do not understand the license plate issue - at all.

There is no surveillance video of JA in AZ because she didn't stop anywhere except Travis' because she didn't need to buy gas. And she didn't run red lights or speed. She knew she wouldn't be seen. She needed those gas cans to pull it off...

I remember hearing that comment too, at the time I thought, "I guess there are other pictures I haven't seen," and just assumed they weren't released due to the pornographic content. It could be that Juan what Juan meant was that the series of photos depicts a couple engaged in a sexual rendezvous?

I also thought Juan asked her about a video they made that day too but it was on her camera because they didn't know how to use his for video yet. She said they deleted that but as we know it could be retrieved. Are her cameras in evidence?

It's kind of weird for the first two purchases, but that's just the way she does things. The third purchase was separate for a reason though, and that was to conceal it. Hence no receipt was kept.

I'm still not understanding. If she really wanted to hide a purchase, why did she not pay in cash. Why did she use a debit card or credit card?

come on, really, everyone knows that you can track purchases of what was purchased with credit card or debit card and receipt and tracking these days.

A 5 year old could have done a better job than that In hiding the purchases!

I believe there was a checkpoint prior to the Bypass, which opened in Feb, 2011 iIrc, which does not have a checkpoint (guess it's far enough from the dam itself that the extra security isn't required?). At least that's what I recall - people were elated about not having the hassle.
