Listen as Emily Glass leads investigator to Lucas Hernandez's body
Private Investigator David Marshburn has released audio recordings of Emily Glass as she led him to the body of 5-year-old Lucas Hernandez.
He used words like "slick and conniving," "cold and calloused" to describe Glass as she led him to the body in rural Harvey County last week. Emily Glass was released from jail on Wednesday, not facing charges in Lucas' death.
In an interview that aired with the recordings, Marshburn tells Grace that his goal in telling Glass she’d only receive probation was to keep her talking until she revealed where Lucas’ body was hidden. She didn’t know that she was being taped, he told Grace.
“We try not to lie. And in our minds, we don’t,” Marshburn told Grace, explaining his tactics. “She makes a fake reality, so we do, too. ... We do the same thing she does to us.”
The two podcasts, which were released Wednesday and Thursday, give the most detailed account so far from Marshburn of how he convinced Glass to take him to Lucas’ remains and how exactly the boy’s body was found hidden lying under debris beneath a culvert bridge in southeast rural Harvey County.
Since 5-year-old Lucas Hernandez went missing months ago, national talk show host and former prosecutor Nancy Grace has been following the case.
This week she's been airing secret recordings of Emily Glass, the woman who led a private investigator to the boy's body. Grace said listening to that recording of Emily Glass made her sick to her stomach.
"When I first read about him and the circumstances surrounding his disappearance, I found it highly, highly unusual," said Grace.
When Lucas Hernandez was reported missing from his Wichita home in February, it made national headlines, and it garnered the attention of Nancy Grace.
Lucas Hernandez's parents ask for privacy while they mourn, spokeswoman says
The parents of Lucas Hernandez, the 5-year-old Wichita boy whose body was recently found after he had been missing for more than three months, are asking for privacy, a spokeswoman said Friday afternoon.
Misty Cox, spokeswoman for Jonathan Hernandez and Jamie Taylor, gave a statement saying the family “has been overwhelmed” with requests for interviews and comments. “While the majority of it has come from good places and well wishes, which the family is so touched by and appreciative of, the intense scrutiny has made it difficult for them to grieve Lucas and prepare to say goodbye to him,” Cox said.

“They only ask for some privacy while they plan Lucas’ memorial services,” she said. Although the parents plan to invite the public to attend the services, they “need this break in order to make that happen,” Cox said. “Otherwise, they may have to have a private service where they can grieve in peace,” she said.
Still — although it’s now clear that Glass wasn’t telling the truth about Lucas’ disappearance and even though the state has records saying she had been suspected of abusing him — the state child protection agency says it can't release any information about Lucas.
Lucas' father tells Nancy Grace he's not defending girlfriend anymore
The father of Lucas Hernandez said in an interview with Nancy Grace that he no longer believes or supports his former live-in girlfriend, who last month led a private investigator to where the 5-year-old boy's body was hidden beneath a culvert bridge.
Jonathan Hernandez's interview aired on Monday's episode of "Crime Stories with Nancy Grace." The episode is available in full on www.crimeonline.com.

Before that, on June 25, 2014, the father of the boys, then living in Butler County, requested sole custody because of what he called Glass’ “continuous instability.”
In his affidavit, the father said Glass “has exhibited some past erratic and unpredictable behavior where she has physically assaulted me while I held the children … She has made decisions that concern me for the care of the children at this time and until things stabilize for her.”
Lucas' relatives want to know whether child abuse investigators talked to Lucas or Glass.
"They need to take these children out (of the home where abuse is suspected) and place them with relatives while they do their investigation," said Judith Heard, Lucas' great-grandmother. "Did we all not yell loud enough for them to do something?"
Two relatives of the boy told the Wichita Eagle in February they had concerns about the boy's welfare in the past, and the child's great aunt said she contacted the Kansas Department of Children and Families last spring. The department didn't comment to the paper.
WICHITA, Kan. - It's been nearly two weeks since the body of Lucas Hernandez was recovered in Harvey County and we are now getting a better idea of when we could find out his cause of death.
An email from a Sedgwick County spokesperson to KSN news today confirmed the autopsy is pending, but added, it "can take up to 90 days to be completed. It will be several weeks yet."
A few neighbors told CrimeOnline they never saw Lucas at all during the week prior to his reported disappearance on February 17. Calls to the landlord of the home remain unreturned, and despite previous claims that the landlord spotted Lucas peeking through a window on February 16, authorities have not confirmed the information to be accurate.
Emily Glass, the live-in girlfriend of Lucas’ father, Jonathan Hernandez, indicated in a written statement to authorities in late February that she called the landlord to check on a “foul smell” on February 16. Yet, it’s still unclear whether the landlord stopped by at all on that particular day.
