yes... they are operating off this sick guy's twist on things... most likely it all is a twist... including what ultimately happened to Andrew.

People don't just DIE during sex. And I think the perp knows this.

Wow.. is his 'apartment protection" further impedance of the investigation? At this point I would say yes.

So where else could have he disposed of Andrew? The perp has obviously been in self protection mode since the act of commission.

TV box where? what dumpster? aghhhh! Let this poor child be laid to rest where he deserves to be!

this case has made me feel sick....

I really really feel for his parents......how scary for them knowing their gay son was meeting men off the internet, and lets not be naive.....we all know why......
I would have been sick with worry.....

It is sad that he did not heed their advice and meet in a public place....

This is a modern crime and we are seeing it happen so much more....."murder through the internet".......

In alot of ways the internet is the best invention known to mankind......but in ALOT of ways it is also the worst..........and for sickos it is a godsend.......making it so much easier to meet their victims.....

RIP Andrew.....and once again I really feel for his parents....

also In one of the news articles, a comment was made from his ex babysitter that he did have a medical condition.

preface with this... Andrew....I pray for the swift recovery of your remains... you have touched my heart....

The search for Compton's body and evidence related to his death is focused on a half an acre of garbage five feet deep.

He may have met in a public place the first time he met this guy. I thought I read that he had met before with him. He may have thought that after their first meeting that the guy was normal and worth getting to know better. I think the most gruesome, nightmare internet meeting gone bad that I have read about is the Richard McCroskey murders.

he met with him previously???? I wouldn't be surprised...

poor Andrew... and what a monster in our midst. I agree with previous speculation on Dahmer. I further question his "tv box" tale to detectives.

A thank you to the Louisville PD. They are putting their all into finding Andrew, to bring him home to his parents.

Andrew: You were loved and appreciated by your parents, family and friends.
You found even more friends here on WS after you went missing.

to Andrew's parents:
You did a wonderful job raising Andrew.
Know that there are many people who care about you and care about Andrew.

Prayers for all.

They are almost done with the search and might call it off as soon as Friday? :( I wonder if they thought of searching the cemetery close to this guy's house. Actually, there are several. There is also a few parks around.

I am not sure if he met him before. I remember it was reported like that but then it was said he met a guy online once before. So I am not sure if he met this guy before, or just a guy online once before?

Yes, I believe I read it wrong now. You are correct. The news source says that they exchanged emails and he picked Andrew up. So I believe it was their first meeting. Call the search off. :waitasec: I wonder if they have received other info that led them to question if he really disposed of him in the dumpster.

it was my understanding that they met before and this is a portion of something I posted earlier in this thread:

I'm not giving the 40 year old a free pass here, but from what we know about the email exchanges, they met at least once before. how psycho could the guy have been that Andrew and he met a second time?

O'Bryan must have really been on his best behavior on their first meeting and sadly for Andrew he did not have enough experience on how to size up people and pick up clues to any possible problems.

unfortunately, that is a skill that has to be learned first hand if one is hooking up with people by internet or even at bars for that matter but it is not a subject that can be taught with specificity by others beyond the generic - be careful.

As I have mentioned before on this thread, I don't live in Louisville, but I have been in Louisville before.

Sherlockh, you are correct that there are cemeteries and parks near where O'Bryan lives. While the cemeteries could be a possibility, I suspect that most perpetual care cemeteries in an urban area would have their own security patrolling their grounds at night. So a park could be a potential possibility here.

Louisville is in Jefferson County, Kentucky. Now if you go beyond I-265 in Louisville, you're going into the rural areas that have hills.

So it could be possible that O'Bryan didn't put the body in a dumpster near where he lives.

I wouldn't be surprised if he dumped the body in a rural area in the hills in another county in Kentucky away from Jefferson County.

Now, if he put the body in a dumpster in another county, then there's no telling which landfill it could be in.

With Respect Revampz, the media, the comments, the police . Thats why i'm proud of the family. When there was a glimer of hope, i figured Andrew would be pissed at his mom, for her lovin description of him. Andrew was a sheltered, shy, sweet young "person". Because you're gay, does not mean you want less. To be cared about, to feel accepted, safe, special. This is the same as young females, or any age, ending up in a bad situation.

And usually it's called rape or at the least, sexual assault.

"We all know why" No i don't know why. moo

Very true Nao! Andrew was likely looking for love, companionship, someone safe, a best friend, etc....the same thing we all look for in relationships.
Also, Keep in mind that this is an 18 year old....still a fairly young guy who doesn't always use the best judgement.
Regardless, It's so hard to be 'monday morning quarterbacking'......I'm sure Andrew would have taken more precautions had he felt or seen any red flags. We ONLY have Gregory's side of the story. Andrew can't tell us what happened...he MAY have NEVER intended to go to this man's house. He MAY have never intended to have sex. He MAY have tried to put a stop to whatever happened. Sadly, there was no way Andrew could overpower someone so much larger and stronger than himself. I pray tomorrow will bring Andrew's family some news.

I am very confused! :waitasec: He is arrested for concealing and tampering with a dead body, but there are no reports of finding the dead body? He died during the encounter? Something is missing from this story!

O'Bryan confessed to the police that Andrew had died while having sex, but not of murder. Note that they didn't charge him with murder yet--only concealing and tampering with a dead body. If someone dies, you are supposed to report it---not throw the body in a dumpster.

Hopefully, they find Andrew's body, which can be examined for CAUSE of death. I'm sure Andrew did not die of natural causes.

Correction: They did charge him with murder, but it seems that it was after charging him with tampering and concealing a body. I still think they want to make sure the murder charge sticks by having the body examined for proof of murder. A very good lawyer can get this guy off on lesser charges without solid proof of murder.

his brother said this ((I dare you not to cry))

~snip~

We must remember him for how he lived his life and for the things he loved to do. Those who knew him well recognized what clearly made him special for each one of us. For me, he was my younger brother who I begged to make me cookies every weekend when I was home from school. Then while he was making them I would sneak into the kitchen with a spoon, grab some cookie dough out of a bowl and make a dash for the safety of my room being chased by him. His dream was to be a chef, and even though he won't be able to finish that dream in life, his legacy will live on in the lives he touched.

~unsnip~

I am gonna go ahead and go where no one else really has yet.. but Andrew's sexual orientation and the method with which he chose to meet people has NOTHING to do with what happened to him really!

How many of you have posted on a dating website? Or know someone who has met their significant other on the internet?

What is wrong here is that Andrew met an ANIMAL on the internet!

I feel so badly for what happened to you Andrew! I wish you could have found the love of your life instead of finding your end there. I am so very sorry for the live you couldn't lead and so very sorry for the family that must be missing you so horribly.

rest in peace Andrew.

Just wanted to bump this post from nurse.

Please read the message from Andrew's brother again. Let's focus on those things about Andrew. I don't see anywhere in that post where it says "my gay brother". But I do see things about Andrew being a special young man. And I see that his family is going to miss him terribly.

Andrew's sexual orientation has NOTHING to do with this. The point here is that a PREDATOR killed a young man, who had a heck of a lot to live for.

Fox 41 News has learned that investigators believe Andrew Compton's was placed in a 32-inch television box. Speaking on a condition of anonymity, a source close to the matter revealed Thursday that police have also impounded the Gregory O'Byran's car, a possible indication that police believe the body was moved before being disposed of.

this article also says they will continue the landfill search today and sat if necessary

Not necessarily. They leave room for all of the packing material and such. We got a 42" and all five of our kids piled in that thing to play. Andrew didn't look like a very big guy. I think it's very possible.

I take it the box from the 42" TV your referring to was prior to the flat screen TV revolution. I don't even know if you can purchase tube type TV's anymore. I have never seen any on the floor at the big box stores that sell TV's. (Best Buy, Sam's, Walmart, ect.)

IMO a box for a 32" flat screen TV would not be big enough to put an adult male body in. (Unless you cut it up)

I guess he could have had a box still lying around from a tube type TV he purchased a few years ago. One of those boxes would be big enough. But what is the chance of that?
