After reading some of the comments, I do remember MAS mentioning in passing that she was doing some escorting at one point. I guess it's pretty possible that TS is involved with that as well, cause he showed up right after that conversation. I wish I could remember more, but I used to just smile and nod, not really paying attention. Now I wish I did.
I think people are confused or maybe I'm confused. I keep reading about background checks and such for the jobs on bourbon st. I wanted to give a little background cause it's not really like any other place. A "door guy" isn't the "bouncer" or guy who checks ID's at a club anywhere else. A "door guy" usually stands at the front door and tries to hustle people into the club. Us quarter rats commonly refer to them as "barkers" If you've been to the quarter, you know the guys I'm talking about. Normally screaming... we got T*ts and beer! Come on in fellas! Sometimes the door guys hold signs or hand out cards, anything to distract you and get you to stop. Some of these guys get to be good talkers. Imagine having a job where everyone ignores you, you have to stand out. With that being said, it's not a job that most people would want, or do. It doesn't pay all that much, people walking on the street try to avoid you, and you just get shot down all day long. If a door guy gets let go, but they're known on the street, the other clubs will usually scoop them up. They normally don't hang around long and it would cost more to run a background check on them than they are really getting paid. Long and short, they don't really have any pull in the club, they are not handling money, they are not checking id's and they are not managing anyone. Normally, if they work the door and are found inside the club, they are asked to get back to work and shuffled back out the door.
I'm not sure if that was his job at Stilettos, but I do know that most of the people that check id's or run the door are security staff and usually rotate, this is why I'm guessing he was a barker. If he was working the "door" they would have called him security. Just my opinion.
As for money... I've been trying to figure that out for a while. MAS I guess is a street performer, but I've never actually seen her on the street. I've seen her barking and holding a sign here and there or pushing shots. I guess she's been down at Jackson Sq a few times and I only got that from the interview with the palm reader, but the guys who make money are usually on Bourbon or Royal. So there can't be much coming from that side of the couple. I'm not sure that TS is working at all, it hasn't been mentioned. So I'm automatically assuming that there is "underground" stuff going on. People have to eat, I'm sure there are taxes on that house, etc.
