Checking in for Jaren's Justice!! Oh please let something become known that wraps this all up and gives Jaren Justice!!!

:bump:
Where is Jaren's justice???

I have noticed that MAS has “liked” a comment on the Satanic Rock Group “Devil’s Rain” Facebook page on February 15. I wonder if she is back in New Orleans? I guess she is assuming that people have forgotten about her notoriety. It would not surprise me that she is into Satanic things. That may explain a lot of things about her.....

Bessie - Thanks for the update on TS. It will be interesting to see how long he is going to serve his sentence.

There is not a day that goes by that I don't think about Justice for Jaren. There will be justice someday!

BBM ... This isn't her on Frenchman, is it? (Taken from the Frenchman Street FB page, where it was posted last night.)

That's definitely MAS. As she states on her Model Mayhem profile -
"Other than music as a hobby I also spin poi. Poi spinning is a form of dance where you spin fire or lights around yourself. Its really fun and I find it to be very centering! Best way to contact me is by facebook and I have lots of pictures in my profile so look me up!!"

One night a few years ago I saw a female fire spinner in Jackson Square. Since learning this about MAS last year, I'll always wonder if it was her.

I am assuming still no word about the test results? If charges aren't filed when they come back I fear they never will. We're now 3 months after when LE said they hoped to have them back by (end of last year if I remember correctly).

So frustrating that she is running free but I think in the end, she will mess with the wrong people and will be the victim, instead of the perpetrator. I think I will go check by the kenner house just to make sure she isn't living there. I'm pretty sure she isn't but you never know.

Just checked the Justice for Jaren Facebook page and there is an adorable picture of her daghter at the memorial in Bay St. Louis. I can't believe in just a little more than two months it will be a whole year since Jaren's death and the horrific events that led up to the discovery of her remains along the MS coast.

Still hoping and praying for justice for Jaren and her beautiful little girl. Thanks to all who check in on Jaren's case and keep us updated.

Bumping for Jaren...there are so many new members around here lately...the more people know about this and are reminded about this the better!

We are still waiting for Justice for Jaren!

We are not going anywhere!

Nope, not budging, not forgetting.

Yep, still here for Jaren!! She's never far from my mind and I pray justice will one day come!!!

Well, finally, not sure how I feel about it though.....Doesn't look like they will be charged with murder.

The Hancock County Sheriff's Office says it plans to deliver a presentation to the District Attorney's Office in the next week, making a case for at least one charge against a couple they call "suspects" in the murder and dismemberment of a Bourbon Street dancer.

Now, they feel they have enough to move forward with a case, but it may not bring a charge of murder. It is possible, instead, that initial charges against Sanchez and Speaks could focus on desecration of a human corpse.

"Our strongest position is an alternative charge other than homicide," Hancock County Commander and Chief Investigator Glenn Grannan told WDSU. "I don't want to discuss just what that is yet, but that's what we believe. We also have a pretty strong case for homicide. But if we charge them with homicide and I'm not successful with a conviction, then double jeopardy comes into play and I'll never get another chance."

I am having trouble finding the Mississippi statute for desecration of a human corpse.

This is what I am finding and it doesn't carry a very heavy penalty. Hopefully they will be successful in bringing more charges than this against the two. If someone else was also involved, the thought of a killer out there is sickening.

There was a dismemberment case in NY where the person was charged with unlawful dissection of a human body & hindering prosecution, both classified as felonies.

http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2...-son-and-2nd-man-to-mothers-dismembered-body/

According to this that would be classified as a Class E felony:

http://public.leginfo.state.ny.us/LAWSSEAF.cgi?QUERYTYPE=LAWS+&QUERYDATA=$$PBH4210-A$$@TXPBH04210-A+&LIST=SEA9+&BROWSER=BROWSER+&TOKEN=24293220+&TARGET=VIEW

This describes a Class E felony & there may be some slight variations from state to state, but according to this overall the penalties would be basically the same.

http://www.criminalpages.com/crimin.../felony/felony-classification/class-e-felony/

If this is correct & these 2 can be convicted on these charges they could face up to 15 years. While that is not much for taking a life it is better than nothing at all. At least its a start for now. Just wanting to see some JUstice for Jaren & closure for her family.
R.I.P. JAREN LOCKHART!

Mississippi uses a different system for classifying felonies.

http://statelaws.net/Mississippi-Felony.php

And I haven't found a state public health law like the one in NY which prohibits unlawful dissection of a human body.

http://statutes.laws.com/new-york/pbh/article-42/title-2/4210-a

Mississippi does have the law prohibiting desecration of a human corpse that BeginnersLuck noted.

(2) (a) Every person who shall knowingly and willfully dig up, except as otherwise provided by law, or in any way desecrate any corpse or remains of any human being, or cause through word, deed or action the same to happen, shall upon conviction be guilty of a felony and shall be imprisoned for not more than three (3) years or fined not more than Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00), or both, in the discretion of the court.
http://statutes.laws.com/mississippi/title-97/29/97-29-25

And Mississippi also has a law against tampering with physical evidence.

(1) A person commits the crime of tampering with physical evidence if, believing that an official proceeding is pending or may be instituted, and acting without legal right or authority, he:
(a) Intentionally destroys, mutilates, conceals, removes or alters physical evidence with intent to impair its use, verity or availability in the pending or prospective official proceeding;
This is a Class 2 felony under Title 97, Chapter 9 of the code, "Offenses Affecting Administration of Justice", and carries the sentence below:

(2) A person who has been convicted of any Class 2 felony under this article shall be sentenced to imprisonment for a term of not more than two (2) years or fined not more than Three Thousand Dollars ($3,000.00), or both.

I'm not a lawyer, and I have no idea what evidence the DA's office holds. Hopefully, it's strong enough to smack them with at least these two charges, and perhaps a conspiracy charge, to boot.

(1) If two (2) or more persons conspire either:
(a) To commit a crime; or...

(f) To commit any act injurious to the public health, to public morals, trade or commerce, or for the perversion or obstruction of justice, or of the due administration of the laws; or...

h) To accomplish any unlawful purpose, or a lawful purpose by any unlawful means; such persons, and each of them, shall be guilty of a felony and upon conviction may be punished by a fine of not more than Five Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00) or by imprisonment for not more than five (5) years, or by both.

In addition, TS could be looking at some very serious time as a habitual offender.

Terry Speaks...has a substantial criminal history, including convictions for having sex with a 14-year-old, assaulting a woman and domestic violence, records show. The convictions all occurred in Surry County, N.C. The most recent was the sex offense, of which Speaks was found guilty in 2003, when he was 31.

You have a way of breaking things down for folks like me!! I so appreciate you.

My hope is that MS will start to sing now that she's had some time away from TS and is charged with something. Then, we will know what really happened that night. Jaren will have her justice one day no matter what. These two will have to meet their maker..... One day.
