And remember this happened in June which means there may have even been more activity in areas near the coast and Casinos at any hour of the day or night. I think they went to a remote area that they were already familiar with, somewhere they had spent time before. Who would drive from Kenner to Bay St. Louis-with the victim's body- without already knowing a "safe" place to stop and dispose of it?

*Just read that there are cameras on the Bay bridge. Wonder if they were checked after the discovery on the beach?

I agree they had to be familiar with the area. Also, after considering your thoughts on the Southside of Diamondhead, it seems possible. That area has not redeveloped as quickly as other areas since Hurricane Katrina. Would be easily accessed from I-10 too. Not sure about the cameras, I know they are located at the intersection of Hwy 90 and Beach Blvd. atop the traffic lights.

Wow, been focused elsewhere and neglected to see that things have HAPPENED in Jaren's case! Just took some time to read through the "arrest" posts. I am very glad things are on the move here.

I lived in Bay Saint Louis for the past few years. I doubt that they dumped her body from the main BSL bridge itseld over into the Saint Louis Bay. It's extremely well lit and well traveled, even at night because of the casino. However, towards the end of the bridge where you hit Pass Christian, I can definitely see that as somewhere it could've happened. The lighting is close to non-existent right on the beach in Pass Christian directly after the bridge. As much as I love walking down the beach at night, I've always had to force myself to drive several more miles down to Long Beach or Gulfport where there's lighting because Pass Christian beach is so pitch dark it's creepy in the middle of the night.

Don't get me wrong...I agree that the bay bridge doesn't make sense. It is Highly lit at night and that rail that separates the driving lanes from the walking path is also very high. I was just repeating what the news articles and news reports were saying. Many moons ago we were all focused on the Garfield pier because it made so much more sense. What is throwing me off is the reports about the cooperation from Stennis that determined the dumping point.
If that's the case then I would have to refer to the other spot we all talked about and that would be the other bridge from the Red light (after the bay bridge) to the Pass. Not sure of its name. Or that dark desolate space underneath the bay bridge on the Pass side. It's creepy even during the day.

Honestly I'm just sooo glad that they have charged MAS FINALLY. We will all find out the sorted details as this comes to an end. The most important thing at this point is that there WILL BE J4J. Maybe now her family and friends can start to heal and find closure.

After all this time...there is finally a light at the end of this tunnel.

So TS has admitted to Jaren's murder. Was this mentioned during the press conference? I feel like I've missed something. Woke up to the story and absolutely thrilled that the police now have a confession. Wonder what he will be charged with....Maybe first degree murder???

A Confession & New Gruesome Details Emerge In The Jaren Lockhart Murder Investigation
by Vanessa Bolano
May 8, 2014

Kenner Police Chief Steve Caraway says 30-year-old Margaret Sanchez has been booked with second degree murder and obstruction of justice.

“That pertains to the dismemberment. The cutting up of the body and throwing the body into the Gulf,” explains Kenner Police Chief Steve Caraway.

[snip]
“At this point obviously he has not been charged. He is in custody in New York,” says Chief Caraway.

Chief Caraway says the confession did not lead to Margaret Sanchez’s arrest. Instead, he says new witnesses and technology played a major role.

Chief Caraway now says Speaks has confessed to the crime saying he and Sanchez killed Lockhart, cut her up, and disposed of her. According to Chief Caraway, Lockhart agreed to leave with Speaks and Sanchez after they offered to pay her to party and have an encounter with the two. As to what went wrong, that is still a mystery.

"We're working closely with the district attorney and second-degree murder was the appropriate charge," he said. "As far as other suspects, we'll have to wait and see how that develops."

Suspect admitted to killing, dismembering Jaren Lockhart, authorities say
Arrest report says Terry Speaks confessed to crime

UPDATED 11:19 PM CDT May 08, 2014

According to the arrest report obtained by WDSU, Speaks provided information that “he and Sanchez had killed a girl in Louisiana, cut up her body and dumped it in a body of water.”

The arrest report also revealed grisly details of the mutilation of Lockhart’s body to conceal her identity. The report stated that “swatches of skin which bore different tattoos, were strategically removed from the victim’s body.”

Ok so here are two scenarios that I ponder with...someone chime in please...

If the body parts were dumped from the bay bridge like LE and Stennis are saying they were or even if they were not dumped from that spot then....how could body parts (considering tide movement) wash up on opposite sides of any given distance? The only rational thing I can think of is they intentionally scatterd them. I think we all discussed that possibility over a year ago.

Second...the bay bridge does have cameras.
Soooooo...if LA LE has camera footage of them leaving NO going to Kenner, leaving Kenner heading to MS and then leaving MS heading back to LA...then LE should have footage of the bay bridge that night. Can't be to hard to spot the car on film since it was a week night and in the wee hours of the morning with a bridge lite up like a Christmas tree.

I'm sure more info will come out as time goes by and some of these pieces will fit together. Just in a few short hours LE went from a revealing interview in NY to a confession from TS.

Thoughts anyone?

I can't see the remains floating off in two directions, either. IMVHO, regardless of winds and currents, the torso was the heaviest object and would have traveled at a slower rate than the others. Yet it washed ashore a full 36 hours before the other parts. That would seem to indicate it traveled the least distance, and was found nearest to its point of entry. Based on that (amateur) observation, these seem to be the two most likely possibilities.

1. All remains entered the water at the pier. The torso remained in the harbor, while the lighter parts traveled eastward into the Gulf.

2. The torso was placed in the water at the pier. The remaining parts were dumped on the other side of the bay. If so, then we have the question of why no images of the car crossing the bridge.

Timeline:

Thur, June 7, 2012

6:00 pm - torso, end of Bay Oaks Dr, Bay St. Louis

Sat, June 9, 2012

6:00 am - calf, Emerald Ave, Pass Christian

7:30 am - thigh near Holiday Dr, Pass Christian

8:00 am - head, Pitcher Point, Long Beach

The blue line in the screen cap is the area where "authorities" believe the remains were put into the water.

Yes but the torso showed up first because it was found first by the workers on the beach at the time. I mean someone has to be at the right place at the right time. The time difference just shows us that's when they were found not when they washed up.
I'm sure the bad weather we had in the days following played a part in there somewhere. Ex. Little to no foot traffic at the time would have resulted in parts being found in a more timely manner. If I'm not mistaken, one of the body parts were found floating in the marina. Was it floating and bumping into boats and piers because of the constant back and forth motion not giving it a final place to land.
I get what your saying though and I hope we learn more soon because my head hurts lol.

MAS's house was on Connecticut Ave. To the west, the street which runs behind the house is Colorado Ave. There are no buildings in the 2000 block of Colorado Ave. The entire block is an open field with the street running down the center. LEO's were seen spread out, walking the field. In itself, that doesn't mean much because an area like that would be searched as a matter of routine. I can't find the video now which showed the HRD dogs in the field, but we saw them in the live feed. I have a feeling they hit on something back there. In any case, a section directly behind the house was eventually roped off.

The backyard is concealed from view on the sides by high wooden fencing. I tried to zoom in close enough to see if the fence runs along the back of the property, but the trees are in the way. Judging by the age and condition of the house, and the thickness of the trees, if there is a fence, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if it's missing some boards. So, from what I can tell, the backyard provides a good deal of privacy. If one knew his/her neighbors worked during the day, or waited until nightfall, one could probably dismember a body in the backyard and no one would know. Likewise, if one wanted to remove something from the house but didn't want the neighbors to see, one could drive around the block and load the car from behind the house. JMO

ETA: Also wanted to mention the garage. More privacy. In the google view, you can see a hose lying the grass. The garage and/or the backyard could've been hosed down with bleach. Also, it rained practically every day during the period of June 5-12.

Here, a detective seems interested in a particular spot of grass. Behind him, on the other side of the trees, is the backyard.

I've attached additional images. 1. A Google satellite overhead view. MAS' house is in the center. 2. Facing front of 2029 Connecticut Ave. 3. View from the rear on Colorado Ave. 4. LE canvassing the open field. 5. Roped off section directly behind the house.

Thanks!

Been a while, gang. I forgot my logon/pw/email used but have been lurking regularly and checking up. Like everyone, so glad to see some significant progress in this haunting case.

Wondering about motive. Was Speaks in the NO area circa 2005-2006 or did he come into the picture later? I recall an earlier post(s) with some timeline on his past travels. That he used an alias (Rice) of an artist that paints very dark and disturbing scenes is interesting. The whole situation, including the connection to Addie Hall, just seems ritualistic...like there are too many sinister elements there for her murder and postmortem treatment to have been just a heat of the moment and cover-up thing.

Thanks for this Bessie. i went buy the house and scoped out the scene while police were still searching it 2 years ago there and took some pics (which are on my laptop that is broken).

What i observed (and i am sure I commented on it back then) was that the backyard would be a great place to bring a body out the house. A car could easily drive up in that every overgrown empty property behind her house and slip the body thru the fence.

I observed where the neighbors windows would be in relation to the back fence and where a car would be and their view would be limited or obstructed, not to mention there are no lights back in that area. The area was extremely overgrown when I saw it but there were pathways where people had driven back there (not clear tire tracks but just areas where it was obvious that there had been people driving thru or walking thru there throughout the years).

The whole area behind MAS's house has been abandoned/bought up by the airport because the noise and large jets were a huge source of discontent to homeowners and reduced their property value and quality of life.

Also interesting to not that the Connecticut house is about 5 blocks from the Kenner police dept/city hall/courts.

Arrest report says Speaks talked about killing Lockhart
By WLOX Staff

Updated: 05/09/2014 12:21 pm CDT

A Louisiana arrest report is providing new details about how Jaren Lockhart was killed and who was involved.

WLOX News has obtained the arrest report for Margaret Sanchez, who was taken into custody Wednesday morning in Metairie, LA. The report details how in June 2012 Lockhart's body was cut apart and swatches of tattooed skin were sliced off in an attempt to prevent her from being identified. It said she died from a stab wound to the heart.

The report said Terry Speaks, the other prime suspect in the murder case, provided information that he and Sanchez had killed a girl in Louisiana, cut up her body, and dumped it in a body of water. It wasn't clear who Speaks told this information to, and so far he has not been charged in this crime. He's currently in a New York prison for failing to register as a sex offender.

Sanchez is charged with second degree murder and obstruction of justice. The arrest report said she and Speaks met Lockhart at a Bourbon Street bar where the victim worked as a dancer. It said she left with the couple after they offered to pay her to join them for a party/sexual encounter.

I read the article, but it didn't mention any potential charges against TS. In my post I was talking about TS specifically. Imo, he is gonna be charged too. I'm hoping 1st degree cause I would like to see the harshest punishment possible for that sick psycho. I am hoping that more details about his confession will be released. Thanks for the link though. I try to read every word I can find about Jaren's murder investigation. She was beautiful inside and out. It's such a shame that she had her life taken by monsters before she could reach her full potential.

Starting to wonder if they cut him a deal for rolling on her. I know the article says they don't know who he confessed to but with LA LE in NY we can reasonable assume the confession was to LE. If MAS was the one who actually stabbed her ( the fatal wound) and he helped dismember and dispose of the body then maybe just maybe LE are using him to put all this together. He gets a sweet deal for rolling and LE gets the actual killer. Jmo

If we suppose Jaren was killed/dismembered in the car and/or at the Kenner house....what physical evidence was still at Sanchez's dad's house on Phlox Ave nearly two years after the murder?
Did MAS keep something of Jaren's?

Maybe a journal. It's been two years and she probably was thinking she got away with murder, maybe felt safe enough to write down her feelings? It would be smart of police to take anything that could contain writings of hers in case she did in fact write something that implicated herself and potentially others that may have been involved. Only thing I can think of besides what you suggested. That would be so serial killer-ish. Just my opinion. Great question though.

Exactly. This is from the part I quoted for you.

"As far as other suspects, we'll have to wait and see how that develops."

In other words, we don't know. LE is remaining very tight-lipped, and for good reason, I'm sure. We'll have to wait and see.

I could see her keeping a journal, but that wouldn't be physical evidence. It's an excellent question, though.
