This was a good Article I ran across in the last few days.

Not many people know these things about him

[h=1]What Prince Said About Jesus Made Me Miss Him Even More[/h]Although most people will remember Prince as a music legend, this shocking truth about him is what should really define his legacy.

Good article...Prince has always been vocal about his faith. As far back as receiving his Grammy for Purple Rain.
He thanked God with such conviction...

Here ya go.... Muppet time !

Totally agree. But let's not use this thread to continue to bash another artist, post after post

CoolJ - I so agree - but also think that to combat the media (we all know about the vicious MSM) that it is important to mention the facts -

Prince was nobody's slave - not MSM, Not Record Label, Not Award bla bla, Not Hollywood Walk of Fame bla bla , (though I did read that people have set up a BOOTLEG HOLLYWOOD STAR just for him). That is so freaking sweet!

So, to counter MSM reports comparing (ridiculously) the two deaths is understandable... Imo....

MJ and Prince were both major, major music and cultural titans, influences and losses... How does one measure that? IDK - but I love 'em both -

Funky? Soulful? Of course. But Prince was a brilliant lyricist, too
http://www.latimes.com/entertainmen...ce-brilliant-lyricist-too-20160422-story.html

Ok – Pope is one of my fave Prince songs – will never forget the first time I heard it.
‘You can be the President, I’d rather be the Pope’ is so audaciously brilliant – imo. What is not to adore about this man?

Pope Lyrics
from The Hits 2

Oh, your car got mags that be dippy dippy dope
But the whole damn nation got the same
Honey only flock to the bee that's the Pope
Not the President with government lame

Put me on a slow movin' parlimentary hackin' bandwagon
You could put me little *advertiser censored* in the grave
Every time you want it I'll be live, bring a date
I mean computer when it’s over press save

So, you can be the President (you can be the President) [kick it]
I'd rather be the Pope (rather be the Pope)
(I'd rather be, so happy)
Yeah you can be the side effect (you can be the side effect)
I'd rather be the dope (rather be the dope)
(I ain't scared of you mutha *advertiser censored*****) [kick it]

****** for “G” rating! Lol!
I like that there is an article out there acknowledging Prince’s brilliance as poet, a lyricist, which is so overlooked in the context of his giant musicality. It really is the combination of all these things that separates him from the rest.

I loved the movie & book Amadeus because I think it might have accurately depicted Mozart as the “Rock Star” he really was in his time. While I read all kinds of parallels to Prince = Beethoven, Mozart, or Bach, I think the general thread is like the greats before him, he is a once in a lifetime shooting star.

His music and lyrics, his storytelling, his movies, his sexy Edwardian style always struck me as operatic – like a grand funk opera.
I did not grow up in the MTV generation but I took a look at the Batdance video – Omg if that isn’t a tour-de-force opera performance I don’t know what is.

So, R.I.P. to the beautiful one – like a comet, he traversed several generations and has forever given joy to so many with his gifts – not to mention the dance floor as is evidenced all over the world.
Love that song

Having spent 12 years of my life, working with, working for, being friends with, traveling cross this country, Playing the Forum in LA, Oakland Coliseum, Madison Square Garden, Ritz club NY, Roxy La and a lot more venues, too many to mention all with understudies of Prince. I personally have never worked with him myself but I know firsthand Prince was anti-drug, hell he did not even drink. In fact many of the musicians that I did work with had their share of problems with drugs. In fact many got fired by Prince for their association with drugs Minneapolis was where everyone went, heck we even had musicians come for treatment. Hazel-ton and then go one to write songs for Paula Abdul.

Yeah I am a little tired on how derailed this thread has become because of a few far fetched ideas. Now while it may turn out to be true on some type of over dose, it is not because he wanted to get high, music was his high. As for talent, he had more in his little pinky than did the entire Jackson family.

Thank you barcode! I don't get why people are testy on a tribute and remembrance thread.

Let's celebrate all that Prince gave us.

LOVE the links to videos people are posting. Thank you!!

Referring to K_Z's latest post...

I work in the medical field in rehab s/p THA/TKA. I concur with your post. While not usual, a hip surgery can result in a need for a transfusion. I thought if a patient were at a higher ASA score risk for transfusion that the MD would have them bank blood before an elective surgery. I do not know his risk levels, and I do not know anything about Jehovah's Witness's. Would they (Jehovah's Witness's) accept an autologous transfusion?
BBM

Jehovah's Witnesses would not accept the type of autologous transfusion from their own blood that was banked ahead of time. The other form of autologous transfusion that involves the collection (salvage), filtering and reinfusing of blood lost during surgery would be acceptable to many Witnesses, but not all. Witnesses are encouraged to ask their surgeon detailed questions about any recommended method, and make a conscientious decision.

My understanding is that a second hip replacement is much more difficult without blood and many surgeons would not want to attempt it. I don't know if Prince was facing that dilemma, however.

Thanks KZ, good information. I myself am a witness, and have attended the same conventions as Prince. The biggest problem most witnesses face isn't so much that blood is needed, since surgery has come such a long way, but frequently doctors (generally very old school docs) do not want to perform the surgery unless we will sign a consent that says if blood is NEEDED that we will accept it. (went through this with my husband's knee replacement) Usually the patient needs a volume or liquids, not so much the blood, and this can be handled with a variety of substitutes, such as ringer's solution. We go for all that stuff. We believe in the Bible--not miracle cures, we need and use doctors just like everyone else with the exception of blood.

As for autologous transfusions, if the blood has left the body to be cleansed and returned to the body without being store outside the body, most witnesses that I know would go for this--we did That is a matter of how each person feels morally about it. The bible is pretty clear about taking in blood (such as a donor's), and using is for various things once is has left the body, but with so many bloodless alternatives, there is rarely a conflict, and with the connections and money Prince had, I doubt this would have been an issue. There are endless reason he may not have wanted surgery.

As for the drugs, whether prince was in pain before during or after his hip problems, any of those times can create a drug addict. Prince may have been a drug addict for many years, maybe even before becoming a Christian and could never break free. Drug addiction certainly isn't considered Christian's conduct, but there is a huge area that is covered, such as, are these necessary? maybe they were, maybe not, - was he an addict that just couldn't bear to ask for help? There are many, many things I do (and probably everyone) that aren't consistent with good Christian behavior, and I thank every person on this earth, outside this earth, and within my congregation that understands that we aren't perfect and our duty is to love our neighbor as ourselves and try to refrain from judging.

BBM - Thank you Waitaminute - So very insightful - imo...

My significant other is also in the music world and has also worked with musicians who have worked with Prince. He wholeheartedly agrees. Prince was anti drug and did fire or refuse to work with those who used drugs. And that this is well known in the business.
This is jmo and his experience

Yaknow -We all want to solve the mystery - And we will! --Does MJ's death change how I feel about his artistry? NO...

Prince is human - with human struggles like all of us. He lived a beautiful life. While I am so, so unbelievably sad - I'll get over it and go on...
But -Prince's imprint will leave a watermark on my soul - and I can't say that about every artist....

You are right, so many talented people missed out, because if he knew, he would not work or would hire far less talented people that did not indulge. There is so much I could write, it was crazy back then almost Beatles like.. We would do an instore where autographs would be signed and would have to get motorcycle police escorts through redlights because of fans try to follow our limousines. We would stay as aliases at hotels (false names) only to have 150 plus girls in the lobby when we signed in Despite our best efforts to stay where no one would know, somehow they found us.

Kicking 20 girls out of our room to finally go to sleep, only to have another band member bring in another 15 some twenty minutes later. I remember one time the Limo started to pull off on me, the driver got cussed out like you would not believe, much love was going on.

I feel the same...actually I think that the sort of humanization of Prince as a person with real struggles, fears , flaws and failures endears him and makes me admire him even more...

Watching and reading the MSM, one thing I have noticed is the women reporters who are confused and smitten with Prince - I love it - Their reaction and reflections to a man who could "do make up" better, and "dress Sexy Better" and yet be soooo majorly desirable as a man? --A woman's woman who could steal your boyfriend... (!?!)

Ok - how confusing is that? --I love him for that!!!.

I look at Prince in his interview with Larry King - he was never more gorgeous imo; not too young, not too old, just beautiful, and he gave a glimpse into the mature man he was: confident, informed, realistic, dedicated, loving, and centered.

I see a man of tremendous discipline and drive and beauty - and the confidence that goes along with it.

Omg you know what? Prince is so luscious, so, so sexy, sooooo (???), who is gonna carry the torch?

I guarantee when James Brown introduced Prince whaaay back when, he had that in mind...

“…Brown then scans the crowd as if he is Christopher Columbus looking for land. He finds land in the rear of the theatre, in the form of Prince, riding his way toward the stage on the back of his gigantic blond bodyguard, Chick Huntsberry.”
