...the probability of abduction is very, very low.

Amy has vanished from the face of the earth. Based on what we know and the timing, self-harm probability seems very, very low, IMO.

Nothing out of place. No confirmation of her going on a walk. She has not been seen since Feb. 2nd.

I try to not assume the dark side, but it seems to me that the probability of abduction is a real possibility.
Yes, they haven't ruled it out but also haven't found any indication...sigh. MOO

It’s been stated she’s married. What’s the status? Happily married? Separating? The status of the marriage could help understand her frame of mind.

I also can’t get a clear answer on if she actually talked to her son or if she texted him she was going for a walk.

I feel the same way as you...or maybe she wanted to disappear and someone picked her up??? MOO

I would like to know these answers too...they talk about her “husband” who lives in Texas...is it an ex husband or current husband?
Any estranged/jealous family members...seems like they have a lot of money...could definitely play a part...if it was an abduction...could very easily been someone she knows because there was apparently no sign of foul play. MOO

Chief Ed Conley Livestream Search Update For Missing Gloucester Resident Abbie Flynn 2/6/20

I haven't been able to listen to all of it yet, but here are a few notes. This information comes directly from the Chief.

A little after 3:00, Abbie talked to her son. Her son is away at college. During that conversation, she mentioned she might go for a walk.

Her friends arrived about 6 p.m. Between 6 and 7 p.m. they became suspicious that something was wrong and contacted police. Based on the conversation with Abbie's son, LE initiated a ground search, mobilizing about 20 K-9's around 8 or 9 p.m. The K-9's belong to NEMLEC.

LE set up a command post and began searching the trails they knew she enjoyed using. State police came in with their helicopter equipped with high-end thermal optics around 9:30 p.m. or so. They did not pick up any heat signature at all. Coast Guard Station Gloucester launched a boat and checked shorelines.

The search was called off about 3:30 a.m. and regrouped about 6 or 7 a.m. the next morning. By 8 a.m., there were about 80 officers there from NEMLEC.
The chief explained the large presence due to the pre-scheduled NEMLEC training yesterday and how they re-searched some areas as part of that training.

There were no signs of a disturbance in Abbie's home. There were cookies on the table and rising pizza dough. No mention of the oven on, but I'm still listening.

Early on, there were reports of a white van. They confirmed one to be a florist, one was a person picking someone up, and they think they've identified a third one but the chief says the probability of abduction is very, very low.

Nobody saw what Abbie wore when she left. Her friends said there was a red jacket that she liked that they didn't see in the home. But, she may also be wearing a navy blue LL Bean puff jacket, LL Bean shoes or boots, blue jeans, and possibly a flannel shirt. This is based on what the kids can't find in the home. The chief will update her clothing description by Twitter today.

Abbie's dog was in the home and is fine.

There were two instances of blood found during Monday's search. In both cases, it was determined to be animal blood.

Her cameras were found in the home.

There is no certainty that she went for a walk (no video or witness).

@SAMS, he said it was not unusual for her to leave her phone at home.

Nothing is missing from the home and she didn't talk to anyone else besides her son that afternoon. They are doing forensics on her phone and laptop computer.

LE identified about 20 external cameras in the area on that first morning and have interviewed every one of those homeowners as well as reviewed their footage. Homeowners have been very cooperative in allowing officers to come in and search their homes.

There are still about 15 minutes left to go and I have to stop here. Hopefully, we'll see a news article soon... MOO
Ty @PommyMommy youre pretty amazing!

Agree.

And if it were a text was it her that sent it?

From the video, her scent was lost at the end of her driveway; and there was no scent picked up beyond this from her leaving to take a walk. Suggests the possibility that she got in a car.

There are only two roads leading from her neighborhood. Her road- St Louis Ave, and Eastern Point Blvd. LE notes they have identified three vehicles on the street, I presume from house cameras as it is a wealthy area. Not deemed suspicious.

However, I believe her house in next to St. Anthony Church and their parking lot, about 125 ft from Farrington Ave (images). So if her house and the church (doubtful) did not have functioning cameras, I don't see how we could know if someone drove directly to her house.

I am guessing the doors were locked?I did not see that the news said she left her keys.
Seem odd to for a walk with guests arriving soon, and she had no pets?
The Chief was asked in this morning's update whether her doors were locked and he declined to answer that question.

She had made cookies, had pizza dough rising, and another three hours before her guests arrived. Coupled with the fact that she told her son she might go for a walk, as she is known to do, the Chief seems to think that is the most likely scenario although they have not ruled out other possibilities. MOO

Gloucester police suspend search for missing woman, 59, who vanished before Super Bowl party at her house - The Boston Globe
[...]

During that podcast appearance Thursday, Conley said Flynn told her college-aged son over the phone around 3 p.m. Sunday that she was planning to go for a walk, something she does regularly. He also said she had been planning to host a Super Bowl gathering at her home that evening before she vanished.

Flynn, Conley told Good Morning Gloucester, is an “outdoor enthusiast” known to walk the trails around her home and take photos of wildlife. She left her phone at home when she took her walk Sunday, Conley told the program, which wasn’t unusual.

Conley told the podcast that investigators began their search under the theory that Flynn may have gotten lost while hiking, suffered some type of medical incident, or perhaps fell in the water. ...

Many people think this is a red flag often in cases, but I for one often leave my cell phone at home when on walks so I can have some peace and not be disturbed 24/7 by addictive technology.
Yes. I was trying to determine if this was a normality for her not so much a red flag but I agree. I personally don’t leave my phone anywhere if I’m going to be out amongst the public, as a safety precaution.

Why would she go for a walk without her dog? Food out? Why? Oven on? Doubt it. She had company coming. Who showed up early and took her? MOO

I assume she liked to talk walks often being a nature lover and probably did not always bring the dog. Maybe it was too much of a burden to bring dog or the dog already did its business? Food out is interesting. But was it warm food that was getting cold? or just snacks and appetizers which would be normal for Superbowl party. Oven on is a big no no and I doubt a sensible person would risk and leave oven on in home while going for a walk. Was her son home at the time? Maybe that is why she felt comfortable leaving it on?

I am sure police are probably looking into the husband already, even though he was out of town. He could have still had involvement being out of town. Hired someone if you want to go that route.
Again, just my silly assumptions. We all need more facts obviously on this case.

I can't seem to find any similar missing or murdered cases in that region yet. Anyone else find any suspicious cases nearby ?

When it comes to woman in America, I think carrying a phone all the time is necessary safety precaution. When you consider the statistics on crime against women by men, well I wouldn't leave without a phone either. Even when I am without my phone, I do carry pepper spray, brass knuckles, and a knife in my shoe. Hey, it is Chicago. Several years ago I got pounced on by a male and a struggle on the ground occurred and as I got him in a headlock, his head was by my belly and he took a bite into it and wouldn't let up, he was trying to bite off awhole chuck (healed obviously, just scar) but during that the only way i could get him off from biting me was to gouge out his eye, which was the most disgusting thing I ever had to do in my life. Police came etc etc. I digress. Sorry for tangent like Grandpa Simpson ha!
