Sadly, his family will have to wait another day to bring him home.

divers will return to the area later in the week.

this stuff drives me nuts why are they not saying they will be back in the water early tomm morning --they think he is dead so no rush??

Give me a break, Forensics gets less helpful with the passage of time - this is not a I will pick up some bananas....

that one day they started at 1040 and ended an hour later - when I read that i got angry, an hour??? Come on boys -- just does not seem like this is a big concerning thing to them, which is upsetting...

dateline on this story | 02.24.16 | 12:07 PM so on this day they stopped at noon -- what is this --noon brightest sunlight I am not grasping what is going on here , long lunches or what --this makes the second day that I know of they quit after an hour so Whats up?

he tried to get back in but he was not allowed because it was closing time. -- somehow this got blurred out by media as it started rolling so maybe he was not bounced --but the bar stating overtly he would not be denied back Monday morning, IMO is not credible.

Its like aplay on words -IMo the above statement sounds logical, its just them "declaring" he would not be allowed back in is.....

It has crossed my mind that family may have, "been advised", to back off that claim right now, and remain silent on that issue. For legal reasons. I don't know that, of course, just something that occurred to me, as possible, because, I found it very odd indeed, that no one is mentioning this anymore.

LE can get them. Even though the pics disappear off the app and phone they are saved on the snapchat server. LE has been able to get them in cases of adults soliciting minors, etc iykwim

Well finally some good news !!!!

Hmmm... according to this article Snapchat claims they are deleted from the servers, BUT not from the phone!

Huh. Apparently the file extensions are just renamed and made inaccessible so they can be written over...

Change the file extension and they become accessible again... who knew?

i never heard of snapshot till this story. But from the very beginning, it sounded idiotic to me. I had to check a couple of times to make sure I got it. It went something like this :

OK so these kids are takin gpictures of something they think is picture worthy. They then send to someone, who gets 3 seconds to look at it. What is the purpose of the whole undertaking?

For younger folks here ---pictures were these things one takes to have them as a "memory"!!

From the beginning it sounded like Mission Impossible"!

and I am serious - if some of you can enlighten me as to the appeal of this , what sounds like a complete waste of time IMO, i would be grateful

oppsss you did not read fast enough this will disappear in 1 more second

???

So there are also snapchat "stories". I believe those remain.
I'll have to ask my kids for the details. But this is what I do know...

So the clubs/bars my kids patronize have snapchat. When people are there partying they snap pics and videos of themselves and the club/bar keep it in their story.

There are snapchat "groups" that they join. Like my town has a snapchat group and my kids post their pics and videos there, too.

Too much!

So all these group things vanish quicker than a blink or two of an eye as well??

Unless I am missing something its just sounds flst out dumb, tell em to practice spelling/ typing or they are gonna end up like some poster on WS!!!

Also, do you guys know if minus 9 was the actual temp or the temp with wind chill? TIA Not that it matters that much bc it was dang cold either way.

With wind chill - that was 16 mph winds , dont remember the ambiant temp, but I put it through the calculator and minus 9 was the answer!

My kids screenshot many of their snaps. They are very into snap-art and save their works of "art".

Mother my dear now let me see if i got THIS correct.

Ok from the beginning they know it has a three second shelf like! Then they take a picture of the picture they know will last three seconds but becasue they want the picture longer than three seconds of the picture that is designed to vanish in three seconds to keep the 3 second snap thing -

- my goodness this generation needs to learn time management

if you are going to take a picture that you ponder you might want later why not skip the snap shot nonsense from the get go do whatever ;send it ,then becasue you want to keep the picture that you know will only last three seconds anyhow,,.you can do that without "snapping" a thing!!!

Or go on EBay and buya Polaroid !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

no wonder SAT scores are plummeting !!
Anyone remember beepers??

also, i from what i've seen the alcohol is mostly craft beers. which to plenty of folks is a hobby. we love craft beers and brew our own... if posting a picture of yourself with a craft beer is definitive evidence one has a drinking problem, i guess my husband and i best get ourselves to AA?

If that is true my entire huge family tree, needs a massive intervention. Maybe I should schedule one for the next family reunion!

Honestly, Zack had about 39 Instagram pics posted total! And a hand full of Facebook posts, most of those were from years ago.
Not really much at all.

When searching in water lots of factors come into play. Each time you send a diver in, they are at risk. Water temperature, churn, and recent rains can make the area a risk. It is clear that Zach is dead (so very sorry and sad to hear this) and it is important to not have another tragedy in this.

I am not sure what is necessary for the best side sonar images but i would think that stirred up and murky water are hard to work with. We have had storms and run off lately.

I heard about the snap thing in the news awhile back and had the same reaction to it.

This is JMO and I may be totally wrong about this.
I may be wrong but I think this application was created as a by product of kids getting caught in school with sex pictures on their phones and that sort of thing. I think someone developed this app to allow people to feel comfortable that the communication would be deleted.

I think with grabbing screen captures of it I don't see how the app would really be foolproof though so it does seem rather silly. I think it is very popular though because I have heard a lot about it.

I have never used it and I really don't know much more about it other than what I think it is.

If someone knows more about it to help enlighten us. Thanks

still catching up, so maybe this was mentioned but...

snap chat has a chat/text feature too. he could have texted within snapchat.

Ok. So it's starting to sound like Snapchat Is all inclusive ! all the best social media apps rolled into one, (and then some!). I am starting get it now, a shortcut to...everything seem to be included in this remarkable app. Hmmmm. I need to master this app. It sounds like the future.

Thanks! I put it into google search and it wasn't giving me a plain Harvard, MA. My mistake! Then he DEFINITELY didn't plan to walk home as it would be a 10 hour walk. I'm back on being stumped. I have no idea why he went towards the water.

at my wedding a drunk cousin apparently tried to walk from boston back home to brooklyn... so maybe there is a point where walking home seems logical?

Not to mention...snap chat just added a feature where youcan add rainbow colored vomit oozing out of your mouth!!

Oh sh#t can you please get that to me ASAP - cant live without it--hurry mom dont be late

not only is it scary this nonsense goes on -- but think about it, someone has to come with the idea (I wanna put puke on whatever the user wants ) cheery start right from the get go

and then DESIGN a thing that regurtates on anything, anywhere, anytime, and at any location, on any day ,on any phone to anybody oh joy!

Well, I think I have a little time to study up on it. My daughter just asked me, "what is snapchat" when I asked if she knew of it...

I was all... " never mind" lol!
I'm not ready yet!

Safe ,

I want you to be very proud that you just got that question and never answer it !!

Hey we can all use a dash of levity!!

This link below pretty much explained most of what I needed to know about Snapchat.

It does seem like the app was created to limit the info from being on servers. A privacy type thing to help people feel comfortable things cant be used against them.
But as we all know by now. LE is pretty good at getting what they need.
I wouldn't trust that this app is foolproof where nobody could ever find things. It probably helps in a lot of ways but it is probably not foolproof.

One interesting part:
"Users were previously required to hold down on the screen in order to view a snap; this behavior was removed in July 2015.[14] The requirement to hold on the screen was intended to frustrate the ability to take screenshots of snaps; the Snapchat app does not prevent screenshots from being taken, but can notify the sender if it detects that it has been saved. However, these notifications can be bypassed through either unauthorized modifications to the app or by obtaining the image through external means.[15][16][17][17] One snap per-day can be replayed for free"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snapchat

Snapchats don't eat up storage on your phone like texts do. Also a lot of people use them to send pics of their anatomy, since they disappear. When you take a screenshot of a snapchat, the sender gets notified that a screenshot has been taken, which lets you know pretty much that you can't trust that person. I don't use snapchat, but this is what I've learned from people who use it, and the info also may not be current.

JMO

ETA: oops Hatfield, I was writing as you were posting above. Thanks!

LOL Well someone needs to tell Snapchat that when they delete it from their servers it is merely made inaccessible so it can be written over. That is what Law Enforcement forensics experts are for! So yes, they can and do retrieve stuff that has been deleted.

MOO

I kind of think they can as well! But the real thing I would want from the cell is everything that happened after the walking boston market shot.

And i hope (you guys ----they aint gonna do any of this -- no foul play .....next) but lets fantize ---GPS recall would be amazing IMO

It truly an amazing aid. I'm on my cell or I'd grab some of article and post up some info.

They found one body that had been in a lake for over a hundred years! ( suppose I should say "remains". Obviously no, "body").

I was very impressed by their compassion, their level of professionalism, as well as the sheer amount of information included in the links.

For instance:

I did not know that a death cert, can't be issued, until a body is recovered, even if said person was seen to have drowned.

And I hadn't thought of the horror for people who know there is still a body, in a lake, who used to recreate at that area, (creeps out swimmers).

I also like that they make custom Teddy Bears out of the victims clothing, for survivors!

The guy is an environmental specialist. I don't he would invent a tool that would muck up the waterways?
