The sample is being held at the National Institute of Legal, Medical and Forensic Science, in Coimbra, near Lisbon.

I thought the saliva sample was confirmed years ago to have belonged to a child who stayed there a week before the McCanns?

Strange in the above article of ‘the scum’ they have a poster listing the evidence and within that is a man carrying a child seen at 9:15pm near the apartment. Isn’t this the sighting JT seen when going to check her kids? I thought this had been discounted as a man carrying his child from a nearby crèche, conflicting but it is the scum after all! I have always thought this was the abductor though. Total brazen. Fits CB character perfectly albeit the hair looks nothing like him. Did he have an accomplice, is this who he called 30 mins prior? Didn’t someone say they seen 2 men on a balcony adjacent to the apartment acting suspiciously. So many questions

This. I think he possibly said he had a job on that would take him away for a while,and now they know why they are being asked they have added bits,or remembered it wrong subconsciously or otherwise.
I honestly cant see if he had a planned job( which I can see being possible) he would draw attention to it by specifying the exact area where he was going to steal a child,and elaborate on it being a horrible job,that's just crazy.

If he wanted to get caught / stopped he might have done exactly that. Is it possible (even if unlikely) that he made those comments hoping she'd ask more about it and he could tell her and she'd call police and stop him?

Or... is it possible he told the girl to make her look like an idiot for NOT reporting it? This guy plans ahead. Any chance in his corrupt mind he wanted to reveal some clues to make her feel small in the event that he was ever looked at for this crime down the road? He might have guessed that she would not tell police at the time but would remember it later if his name came up - cat / mouse game with people perhaps?

Just watched the Netflix docu for the first time. Tannerman was ruled out by Operation Grange. There was a nightime creche and the man carrying the child came forward and matched the artists impression.

The most interesting two sightings are those of the 12 year old girl who saw a light-haired, pock-faced man leaning against a wall near the apartment looking about.
Also, JJ's sighting of two blonde - haired men standing in a doorway near the apartment and with a direct view down to the Tapas bar.
Episode 8 - 20 mins in, if anyone wants to see it.

That 12 year old actually saw the guy on two different days looking towards Maddie’s apartment, crazy. And he completely matches the description of CB. By far the most compelling witness testimony for me, even if it happened prior the crime by a few days

Yes, I read that the girls Father, quite rightly, had been rather annoyed that the Port Police hadn't taken them seriously because of their age.

The sighting by the 12 year old is really interesting, Cause we know he plans ahead, there’s no way this was a random spontaneous break in, he will have been looking around that block in the days before so it really does seem significant. Her description is bang on too but I remember she said he was “really really” ugly. I mean don’t get me wrong CB is no oil painting at all but I dunno if you’d look at the guy and think wow what a really ugly bloke, If you know what I mean?

She described the guy as having buzzed hair that looked blonde but was too short to tell with certainty... wonder if there’s any pics of CB from around May 07 regarding his hair length at the time. Probably not

Yeah that’s true, and he was living out his campervan at the time for weeks they think so I’m guessing he would look scruffy and smelly etc too. I think that lead and the 2 blonde Germans on the balcony is really really significant. I wonder if they’ve ever found his blonde friend? Maybe that’s who he was on the phone just an hour before?

I too would love to know if the two are connected in some way. Martin Smith (Smith sighting) actually thought the man he had seen carrying a child was Gerry McCann once he saw pictures of McCann on the news when he returned home to Ireland from Portugal. Ney does look enough like Gerry -- same coloring, general face shape and size, etc. -- that it seems possible that Smith and his family could actually have seen Ney that night and thought he was Gerry.

I don't want to try to connect things that aren't connected or point to a larger scheme with respect to Maddie's abduction than really exists, but is it possible that Ney and CB knew each other?

I see. It's quite possible they are holding something back, I agree. Particularly if it's highly sensitive or perhaps involves an undercover informant. If the British Press got hold of it, could undermine all their efforts to get a conviction. And we've seen leaks from within the british police previously to the press.

They must have something pretty compelling to be sure of the death though. I've just seen on the latest release of information from Wolters this re-iteration of knowing what happened that also backs up my above statement about keeping it close to their chest.

But being CB confirmed as the perpetrator, IMO can PJ go unscathed?

I'm still trying to get the real and relevant picture but, in 2007, CB had been collected a series of previous convictions include sex abuse on child. All known at that date. He was in the area for years. Rape investigation (2005-2006) dropped due to lack of evidence. They were called out several times after ex-girlfriend complaints of CB's attacks. Never charged.
How can't he be one of the targets much earlier?
They claim he was referenced. But really since when?

PJ: Initial defensive attitude to avoid external influences? Then turn to just "informative" and trailing behind the others instructions? Why not more proactive?
Now, still cooperating to clean the face?

Algarve, I know it well....spoiled with massive tourism, where money flows but burglary, rape and escape has became "trivial" at that time. Too easy.
Where's the real prevention? Where's the quick reaction?

It circulated for years and the whole world had read or heard about the mystery man carrying the toddler into the night. Yet it took creche man Yearss to realise it was him! Why the massive wait to come forward? X

I live in a tourist area. Our police know everything that goes on here and the bad actors are constantly watched, followed, and even escorted out of town, in part because there is a desire to protect the tourism industry.

doesn’t make sense why the woman would out herself though? Like if she was involved why would she call police to say she knew him if she was up to no good. There’s no evidence that it was anything other than a foster home.

She was an ex of CB. I believe she already spoke with police last year, do we know she was the one to contact police? I believe police spoke with another ex of NF too. NF most likely had no control over what was going on. CB could have turned up, perhaps she was too afraid to say no to him when he asked to stay? Maybe he started taking over, from all we have heard so far he is a very intimating individual, before she knew it the girls she fostered were ending up pregnant?

When NF abandoned the villa drugs & drug paraphernalia were found...doesn’t seem like your typical foster home to me? Could easily have been a front imo. It’s my belief that whatever went on NF felt powerless in the situation. All just my own opinion.

Lagos, Luz, the hippie village Barão de São João (I was there in 1998), etc.
So many people, foreigners, families, resorts, hotels. But also the hippies, barefoot "luxury", illegals, drugs, much alchool.
By the beach, few police. Less than required.
And then, on the backs, the hills and valleys, deserted roads, isolated homes, the woods.
Knowing well the area, seems too easy.

Forgive me for being so... jaded. But, at this point, it seems like someone is just trying to pin as many missing child cases on this guy as possible.

I don't think anyone official is trying to pin cases on him, it's the UK tabloid news media that's doing it, for the sole purpose of generating more stories and increasing readership. The responsible media are not publishing all these stories. It's not just tabloids, there are other sources of very dubious journalistic integrity, including TV crimes shows and documentaries, radio news, social media, etc.

I am just waiting on the US tabloids to jump in and National Enquirer to try and link him to Jon Benet Ramsay.

I hope a more respectable journalist can put together a timetable with his known locations along with which crimes he is actually being considered a possible suspect by LE.

Because he was not walking the route Tanner said most likely

There is a reasonable chance that the Met spoke to the Tapas group again and resolved many of the contradictions including the Tanner sighting. But we have no insight in to any of that, save what was revealed on the Crime Watch show.
