This may be a dumb question but work with me here.

If the evidence of the plane crashing in the Indian Ocean (0%) is the exact same as the evidence we have that the plane landed somewhere (0%), why is this angle not being explored by the media as well?

Don't ask, don't tell?

everything is a secret, lol like I believe that, if NSA was good they would be going after the underbelly of darkness ,the underworld of childporn in the darkness of the internet, not collecting people's innocent phone calls and mean emails. Off my rant.:banghead: sorry

Why is it when I used Google Earth and looked up my friend's address, we could see her grandkids swing set, backyard pool and even make out her dog, a boxer, sunning himself on her deck? And yet we cannot see a clearer image of what the searchers are looking for?

My uneducated guess is that there are at least two reasons:

1: The Google satellite is likely ideally positioned when it takes a photo of your area. (as Jersey alluded to.)

2: Not only are the satellites offering up current images in the search, not ideally positioned, but the photos the public are seeing have been cropped from a very large image, and enlarged in an attempt to show detail.

Any time you crop and enlarge an image, you sacrifice image quality.

Does anyone know what that dudes T-Shirt says? I'm guessing something like "My friend from Iran went to Malaysia and all I got was this lousy T-Shirt!."

Has anyone actually SEEN this new image from the French?
Not doubting them, I just want to see if it is out there yet.

TIA!

ETA- LOL Isabelle, we are on the same page ;)

I think it was time who asked several posts back if the satellite ping map I'd posted was 'official'--not sure about that one, but did find an official one supplied by the Malaysian government and posted in Slate:

ETA: It would appear from the ping map that the general ping route wouldn't have flown over India at all, but Asia.

ETA: Haste makes waste...sorry. Didn't mean to say "ping route" but "general northward route" - that wouldn't have necessitated flying over India; could have flown over Asia.

Lol, don't think it's logo on his (button-down) shirt.

Cute, Steely Dan. ;)

Some news sources, including one that Jersey posted, seem to be saying that the French contribution isn’t an actual image, but rather satellite radar data, specifically “echoes”.

I don’t know enough about satellite or radar technology to know if a radar “echo” is or can be, translated as an image.

Maybe his missing legs told the story?

"This morning, Malaysia received new satellite images from the French authorities showing potential objects in the vicinity of the southern corridor," the Malaysian Transport Ministry said in a statement. "Malaysia immediately relayed these images to the Australian rescue co-ordination centre."

The statement gave no details about whether the objects were in the same vicinity as the other possible finds in a vast swathe of some of the most inhospitable sea territory on Earth.

I do not think so many countries would be sending ships and search planes if they were not pretty confident that MH370 is in that area.

Just wondered if the French satellite image might be showing possible evidence of bodies so that is why it has not been shown.

ETA: It would appear from the ping map that the general ping route wouldn't have flown over India at all, but Asia.

On the above map, the red arcs show only the possible LOCATION of MH-370 at the 8:11am ping, not its ROUTE.

The ROUTE of MH-370 is estimated by a journalist on the map below (purple dash-lined corridors):

h6q9SPI.jpg

But even this is only an estimate and not the precise MH-370 satellite-ping projected flight-path map investigators are using. For example, published sources have said the potential northern flight path could not have crossed the center of India, but took a more north-easterly route, crossing the coast around Bangladesh (or just over its border with India or Burma/Myanmar).

Does anyone have a timeline and map of all the supposed sightings from the ground and oil rig and contacts and such?

I was watching CNN this a.m. and they were showing film of the planes and people working on the search and rescue teams. It was so impressive and the thought came to me that this type of thing should be shown to the families that are complaining that nothing is being done. These heroic efforts should be seen by them so they will at least know what exactly is being done. They should be fully aware that people are risking their lives to try to find their loved ones. jmo

The amount of people that are searching for this plane is incredible :)
If I was one of the many family members wanting answers, I'd be happy knowing that so much effort is being put into finding the plane.

Have sent a copy of the pic to my friend, who is Malaysian... I hope it's nothing insulting!

Will get back to you if he replies, if nobody else finds out first

Edited to add - he's just replied that it's in Arabic, so now onto my Egyptian chum...

At the risk of using the "S" word, has anyone found or read anything speculative as to WHY this particular aircraft and flight time and route would have been selected for hijack? All I have read is the possibility of its cargo being the goal. That baby could be put to bed if the true cargo manifest were to be publicized. jmo

There has been speculation here on WS that the hijacker(s) were after certain people on board. Mainly the 20 FreeScale Conducter employees.

The intended route was China, and there are terrorist groups there who would have had reason to hijack the plane and crash it in China somewhere.
