this morning on CNN they had a flight simulator reenacting the flight. When the pilot was asked what would happen when the transponder was turned off he said that all sorts of alarms would go off on the ground. He also said that jets would be scrambled. So did this happen? Was the plane shot down? Or maybe escorted away. ty

Wonder if those alarms were functional?

Has anyone drawn up a map of the navigational corridors the plane supposedly followed?

If it were there, that would mean the US has the plane!

So you think terrorists landed the plane on the Naval Base? Or that it crashed on the island, and the US isn't telling anyone? What is your theory regarding it?

I dont think it will be shot down as there is probably less fear of Sept 11 in that part of the world. Plus putting it down would lead to a whole lot of different story. Have any commercial jet being deliberately shot down since Sept 11 in this scenario, not that I can remember of. Though there is a few close call as somebody already mention in this thread.

Right ,

There are SOME cell phones that CAN be tracked . I believe those phones are what has provided the data about the satellite pings.

That RR engine pinged exactly like Malaysia said and the US is onto the phone issue.IMO.

Does this quote help at all with that theory ?

"It's like when your cellphone is off but it still sends out a little 'I'm here' message to the cellphone network," the official said. "That's how sometimes they can triangulate your position even though you're not calling because the phone every so often sends out a little bleep. That's sort of what this thing was doing."

That was my theory this morning, heck, it's within the 2,000 miles of Malaysia.

But, I'm over that now. My new theory is that it flew under the radar to Bangladesh or Pakistan.

I'm sure I'll have a different theory tonight when I hear updates. :p

Sorry, it wasn't me who originally posted about Diego Garcia. I was replying to the poster who asked if Diego Garcia was a possibility.

This one ?

Lets take this in context: Fariq invited two beautiful young ladies into the cockpit. I dont think a couple of guys would get the same invitation.

we're entering a new era of terrorism - one in which female suicide missions are becoming increasingly common

not to mention females could be used as bait and the male hijackers sitting somewhere close

I can't seem to rule anything out in this case - even the most remote, absurd, conspiratorial possibilities seem strangely realistic

U.S. Military Searches Seas East of India for Malaysian Jet

By Jim Miklaszewski

U.S. surveillance aircraft hunting for the missing Malaysia Airlines jet were over a southern part of the Bay of Bengal Friday – a zone much further west than in previous searches.

A P-3 maritime surveillance aircraft was flying missions over the area, to the east of India.

The ‘search box’ is several hundred miles west of the Strait of Malacca, the shipping lane off the west coast of Malaysia that has been one of the two focus points for investigators. The other is to the east of Malaysia, in the South China Sea...

But on whose side would the alarms go off?

MH370 had left the Malaysia ATC area and failed to connect with the ATC in Vietnam.

So Malaysia or Vietnam ATC?

Or would both ATC towers get an alarm regarding the transponders being turned off?

A fly-over waypoint is a waypoint that must be crossed vertically by an aircraft. A fly-by waypoint is a waypoint that marks the intersection of two straight paths, with the transition from one path to another being made by the aircraft using a precisely calculated turn that “flies by” but does not vertically cross the waypoint.

I want to see a passenger seat map with all names listed.

Just jumping off your post...

Could the person in control of the plane have landed... And taken off again... At any of the way stations?

passenger and cargo could have been unloaded and received (at any of the wa stations) by other members of a sympathetic team to the one flying the aircraft?

:dunno:

A way station, or waypoint, is merely a navigational spot, not a physical location with runways and fueling stations.

I haven't weighed in on this case before, because of real life.

(My son graduated from Marine Corps bootcamp!)

Anyways, there was a missing person case where this lady had a brother, from the U.S., who disappeared from the airport he worked at in some off the wall country the same day and airport that a full size commercial type jet disappeared. She was convinced the two events were connected and could not get this country to conduct a proper investigation. AFAIK, the jet and the missing man were never found.

Does this case ring a bell to anyone? I tried googling and all I'm getting are sites connected to this recent case.
