'The Canada Border Services Agency has issued an “armed and dangerous” alert to its officers stationed along the Canada-U.S. border, warning them to be on the lookout for the man suspected of fatally shooting at least 18 people in southern Maine.'

'The CBSA says it is working with Canadian and U.S. law enforcement partners, including U.S. Customs and Border Protection and RCMP to “protect Canada's borders against any threat or attempt at illegal entry.”

The Canadian border agency said its “Armed and Dangerous - Firearms lookout” alert was sent to all its officers through an internal system, and the agency added that all entry points along the Canada-U.S. border remain open.'

I guarantee he’s not coming in through an entry point, lol.

He can hike through the bush and find himself in Canada.

This small plane is a government plane seems to be flying along the river/creek pretty low (400-550 feet). Perhaps visually searching for disturbances or would a plane like this have any heat sensing type abilities?
So, still not found? Are schools and stuff open?

Same views as lots of ppl.

Yes indeed. Some of them right here on this forum discussing crime cases. Differing political, social or religious views are pretty normal, really. It's the exception to the rule (thankfully!) that someone with different views goes ballistic and hurts innocent people.

it’ll be close to 80 here in Boston today so probably about the same in ME. Next week we have some days expected to be in the 40’s. The weather in New England is pretty fickle and not much bothers us in terms of cold so hard to say if weather would be a deterrent for someone
Wouldn't also be very cold to operate a jet ski at this time of year in Maine? Wouldn't he have to be wearing a wetsuit or something? Also dark at night.
Common misconception. Most large bodies of water the water temp this time of year is much warmer than late May or Early June.

Card is from Bowdoin, Maine, which is about 25 minutes from Lewiston. He lived with his father in a home in Bowdoin. Relatives told WBZ-TV Card goes by the name "Robbie" because his father Robert has the same name.

The Cards are said to be a well known farming family in the area. The neighborhood is within walking distance of where a car that was linked to Card was found abandoned after the shootings.

Card's cousin, Michael Mercier, told WBZ-TV Card has "a lot going on in his head."

"He's got a lot of problems up in his head right now, one of them's a schizophrenic," Mercier said.

A big deal is being made now of the fact that an arrest warrant has just been issued. It may have been answered before but, What additional powers does LE gain through the warrant that they wouldn't have otherwise?

The only difference I noctice publically was they said he was a person of interest first. I believe to issue an arrest warrant for murder, they need the ID of the person that was killed. IT sounds like once they had some of the IDs made on some of the victims, then they could issue the warrant for the arrest on those murder charges. They can issue more warrants once other victims are positively ID'd.

I am not sure what specific differences there might be when hunting a person that is just a POI and one that now has a warrant. Obviously they can arrest the guy now, but I don't know if before the warrant maybe it's just that they can detain him for questioning? Then that starts a clock for how long they could hold him until they have to charge him?

"Except for an arrest in 2007 for an alleged driving under the influence charge, the suspect is not known to ATF or in FBI holdings, according to law enforcement sources. He legally possesses multiple weapons and owns a home on hundreds of acres of land in Maine, the sources said."

That's a lot of land he could be hiding in, plenty of space for him to stockpile supplies ahead of time.

"An account on the social media platform X with Card’s name and a photo that appears to be him, which has been taken offline, had a history of liking right-wing and Republican political content.

When WNBA player Brittney Griner was released from Russian detention after a prisoner exchange for a convicted arms dealer, the account posted what appeared to be its only tweet. Responding to a CNBC story about the topic, the account wrote: “Mass murderer for a wnba player great job keep up the good work,” in an apparent jab at President Joe Biden.

The account liked a tweet earlier this year from right-wing author and filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza arguing against an assault weapons ban, as well as other tweets from political figures like Donald Trump Jr. and Tucker Carlson."

Interesting focus on "mass murderer" and assault weapons.

Daily Mail reporting that "police have rushed to the scene of a man in camo gear said to be dodging a police helicopter"

from above:
The man was spotted on Ridge Road in Monmouth on Thursday morning, according to police scanner audio reviewed by DailyMail.com. Further information on whether the man is Card or is linked to the massacre has not been confirmed.
