"I briefly spoke to Ed Smart today, father of Elizabeth Smart who was held in captivity for nine months before being rescued.
I called him for tonights segment with Anderson which, among other things, takes a look at the People Magazine exclusive pictures of Jaycee Dugard. Her family spokesperson said they released the exclusive photos as a way of letting everyone know that she and her family are doing well and that there is hope for the future.
Jaycee appears smiling and happy in all of them and tells People she wants to thank everyone for their support.
In one shot shes on a horse that she rides as part of her therapy in order to foster trust. Her daughters, mother Terry, and sister Shayna also ride and are part of the People spread. We dont see the faces of her daughters Angel and Starlit, allegedly fathered by Phillip Garrido they are instead photographed from behind."

"Whether Phillip Garrido meant to open a school for children a claim careening across the blogosphere is doubtful.
It appears Garrido never followed through on any plans he had for "The Phillip C. Knight Institute." He never applied for a business license from Contra Costa County and filed nothing with the state Department of Education, officials said."

The Grace Foundation in El Dorado Hills rescues abused and neglected horses, then uses them in equine therapy for abused and neglected children.
Licensed family therapist Julie McBride said horses assist victims by relieving stress, anxiety and depression. She said horses are like a co-therapist.
"With someone like Jaycee, trust is going to be huge. She needs to be able to trust the people who are going to help her," McBride said. "With the horse being accepting and non-judgemental, that starts the relationship with the horse; they can transfer it to the relationship with the therapist."

Dugard would get a personal tutor to prepare her for college as a mature student - she is now 29, having been imprisoned by Garrido at the age of 11 - while her two girls, aged 11 and 15, would go to a private school.
Meanwhile, according to a report in the Daily Mirror, Phillip Garrido, 58, who is being held in custody while the court case against him is prepared, has been writing to his mother, Patricia Garrido, from his prison cell, asking her "to understand him".
Like her husband, 55-year-old Nancy is awaiting trial in custody in California. Both are expected in court on October 29 for a preliminary hearing but the actual trial is not expected to start for months, perhaps even another two years.
