Stacy Peterson’s friends and family are rolling out a new fund raising effort to help defray costs associated with the search for the missing Bolingbrook mother.

Peterson’s friend and neighbor Sharon Bychowski said the group is selling “Where is Stacy?” bumper stickers for $2 each. Every week, members of the group Friends of Stacy Peterson, which has applied for non-profit status, will search for cars displaying the stickers and pick two winners and give them a free Stacy Peterson T-shirt.

"BOLINGBROOK -- Things were bad enough when it was just alleged Internet threats and a misappropriated garage door opener, but now allegations of an unauthorized photograph of a 4-year-old have sent tensions on Pheasant Chase Court soaring to a new high.

Drew Peterson called the law on Sharon Bychowski, his next-door neighbor and the best friend of his missing wife Stacy, and accused her of "detaining" his young son Anthony, police said. It was the third police report from the neighbors since March 14."

"Bychowski said the boy simply rode his bicycle to Bychowski's driveway to see Stacy's sister, Cassandra Cales, who was there with her friend, Bruce Zidarich, following a volunteer search for the missing woman.

"It was ridiculous," Bychowski said. "We took a picture of him and his Auntie Cassandra.

"You can't arrest me for taking a picture outside," Bychowksi said. "Didn't he used to be a cop?""

Friends and family of Stacy Peterson are inviting the public to attend an informational meeting Wednesday, April 9, for those interested in volunteering.

Bolingbrook Village Clerk Carol Penning, who is coordinating a May 10 fund raiser, said the group is looking for search volunteers and people interested in helping to plan, donate to or staff the fund raiser. All proceeds will go toward search efforts to find the missing Bolingbrook mom.

“I feel like I have to do something,” said Penning, a close friend of Peterson’s. “This is a good way to help and do something that would maybe bring her home and we could give her a proper burial.”

Stephen Peterson, who was in his Oak Brook police uniform and driving a squad car when he was caught by news cameras after appearing before a Will County grand jury investigating the disappearance of his father's wife, was given an 8-day suspension Wednesday night for, according to his chief, casting the department in a bad light.

Friend of suspect's relative talks to grand jury about night Stacy Peterson disappeared

Drew Peterson and his attorney, who have complained about being tried in the media, will take their case to the people Friday night when they appear on CNN's "Larry King Live" and answer viewers' questions.

Meanwhile, the investigation into Stacy's case continues at home. On Thursday, a Bolingbrook man testified before a special grand jury that a relative of Drew Peterson was distraught after helping Peterson move a large rectangular container on the day Stacy was last seen.

Joe Hosey's report:

Did Peterson grand jury hear barrel story?

April 11, 2008

"The man who went on television and claimed Drew Peterson's stepbrother showed up at his door and blurted out that he helped the Bolingbrook cop get rid of his missing wife's body was called before the grand jury Thursday.

Walter Martineck, a neighbor and friend of Peterson's stepbrother, Thomas Morphey, declined to discuss his grand jury appearance.

In December, Martineck was more talkative and went on the network news show "Dateline" to detail his late October conversation with Morphey.

Peterson tells Larry King he `technically' cheated

Drew Peterson says he appeared on CNN's "Larry King Live" Friday night to "clear things up" for the public.
Peterson is a suspect in the disappearance of his wife, Stacy.

Callers got a chance to ask the former Bolingbrook police officer about the case.

Peterson has done television interviews before. But he hasn't taken questions from the public before.

Bolingbrook mother Stacy Peterson has been missing now for more than five months. Her husband, Drew Peterson, appeared Friday night on CNN's "Larry King Live" to answer questions about his wife's disappearance.

CBS 2's Mai Martinez reports while Drew Peterson was appearing live on cable television, family members and friends of Stacy Peterson gathered in the house next door to his to watch the interview.

The normally vocal family members and friends who watched the show at Sharon Bychowski's home said they did not want to talk about the interview Friday night, but they're planning a press conference Saturday to discuss it.

Common people may get to beat their wives -- but the men in blue can't.

"As a police officer, we don't have the same abilities to do things as a common person," Drew Peterson pointed out during his appearance on the "Larry King Live" show Friday night.

While one of the things police officers are deprived of, Peterson seemed to be saying, is committing domestic battery, this is but a single example of the hardships endured by former Bolingbrook police sergeant Drew Peterson.

The family of Stacy Peterson is outraged by a TV interview with her husband, Drew Peterson. During a search Saturday, they called his comments on "Larry King Live" a bunch of lies.

CBS 2's West Suburban bureau chief Mike Puccinelli reports on the family's reaction.

Family and loved ones of Stacy Peterson gathered in Bolingbrook Saturday to search for the missing mother and to respond to Drew Peterson's latest turn before national television cameras.

Pam Bosco, a spokeswoman for Stacy Peterson's relatives, said the searchers combed areas of the southwest suburbs that had not been searched in detail before. Bosco said the searchers had "other resources on hand," but would not be more specific.

Bosco said she has been meeting with Illinois State Police to go over the investigation into Stacy Peterson's Oct. 28 disappearance.

Stacy Peterson family spokeswoman Pamela Bosco and Sharon Bychowski, Peterson’s neighbor and best friend, joined Cales in the press conference under a tent on a bleak and rainy morning. Each of the women flatly denied Drew Peterson and his attorney Joel Brodsky’s claim that Stacy Peterson is alive and with another man.

“Based on the technology today, and this being an evidence-based investigation, there was no other man,” Bosco said. “Unless there’s an invisible man out there right now, Stacy did not leave on her own accord.”

Bosco’s assertion was supported by a statement from the Illinois State Police released to King Friday night.

“Stacy Peterson did not voluntarily cease all contact with her children, family and friends,” the statement read. “The investigation continues to make progress proving that claim.”

Drew Peterson’s erratic behavior in the days following the disappearance of his 23-year-old wife Stacy was a trained response to stress, the former Bolingbrook sergeant said Friday on ‘Larry King Live.’

“I was being barraged by ...I was being questioned by police. I was scared to death,” Peterson said. “And policemen - any policeman will tell you that police deal with stress and despair with humor. They laugh, they make jokes. They’re trained not to show emotions.”

Measure would loosen hearsay restrictions at trials

A Will County state senator has filed a measure that, if passed, could influence the type of evidence allowed in a possible prosecution of Drew Peterson.

Sen. A.J. Wilhelmi (D- Joliet) has offered an amendment to the state's code of criminal procedure, backed by State's Atty. James Glasgow, that would allow hearsay testimony if the witness who made the statements was not available to testify in person because the defendant had a hand in that person's absence.

"Tom's not a whack job," John Morphey said in his first public interview. "It just kills me to see and hear this stuff about him. Drew says [Tom's] a liar, but Tom was coming forward with his story to me and to other people before Stacy was even reported missing."

JOLIET – Will County Judge Carmen Goodman ruled Thursday morning that the estate of Kathleen Savio could be reopened.

Goodman also removed Drew Peterson’s uncle, James Carroll of Westchester, as the executor of Savio’s estate. Instead, Savio’s sister and father will become executors of the estate.

The judge also appointed a guardian ad litem, or court-appointed attorney, to represent the interest of Savio’s children.

Drew Peterson's guns to remain with Illinois State Police
Judge reverses own previous ruling

"Drew Peterson's fight to regain possession of his firearms hit a snag Thursday afternoon when a judge ruled that the right of the Illinois State Police to retain potential evidence in a criminal investigation outweighed Peterson's right to his property."

"Following Schoenstedt's decision, Peterson attorney Joel Brodsky said his client would now transfer ownership of the weapons to his son, rather than just give them to him for safekeeping.

"Put it in writing," Schoenstedt responded."
