From the article:

"My daughter chose life for that baby," Vivian Walters said, adding that her daughter had enlisted a network of friends and family to help her care for the child.

The morning that she was killed, Elizabeth Walters was meeting with Miller (who was married to another woman) to see what role he wanted to play in the child's life, her mother said.

"If he didn't want to help out, she was prepared to raise the baby on her own," Vivian Walters said.

"She would not have wanted all the publicity that's going to surround this," Vivian Walters said of her daughter. "But she also would want to pave the way for any other women who are in the same position. If she could have helped other women, she would have chosen to do that."

SO very sad. :(

Dr. David Tipton-Karen Tipton

I am confused about this one.. I have read about it and see nothing about the husband being involved... ??? Maybe a few accusations, but other than that the police have cleared him and another man has been charged, tried and re-tried... I know there is still some court stuff going on with the accused, but nothing witht he husband.. Am I missing something??

I remember from 2001- Oklahoma or Arkansas I think. Phillip Bond killed his wife Janice and two of their four children. I think the children's names were Megan and Nathan and they were in their teens. But I can't find any links.

It looks like her name is spelled "Janis" and you're right - they were from Oklahoma. Here are some links:

CrimeNews 2000 - crime news archive page

A man killed his wife and two children, then shot himself, officials said today, just days after the woman obtained a victim's protection order against him. Grady County sheriff's deputies went to the home of Phillip and Janis Bond at 8 a.m. this morning after a co-worker of Janis Bond reported that she'd failed to show up for work. (She apparently owned or ran a day care center that she usually opened at 5 a.m. When she wasn't there to open, the co-worker became concerned.)

... Inside a large, two-story home south of Chickasha, a father slit his son's throat and strangled his teen-age daughter. Phillip Bond, 43, murdered his wife of 23 years, then shot himself in the chest in the upstairs master bedroom early Thursday, said Kym Koch, spokeswoman for the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation...

Deputies went to the home Saturday morning after Janis Bond complained her husband kicked her with steel-toed boots and punched her in the face...

Janis Bond obtained a protective order against her husband, who posted bond Monday. The next day, escorted by a deputy, he went to the home to get some personal belongings, Koch said.

Phillip Bond walked to the house early Thursday after parking his sport utility vehicle about a mile away, apparently to make sure the family wouldn't hear him pull up...

The Bonds had two other children, ages 26 and 18, who did not live in the home.

Barrington said Janis Bond lived in Chickasha all her life and opened the Bee Hive Day-care Center in 1997. She was president of a local children's association and made costumes for the community theater...

Stephen Grant murdered Tara Lynn Grant. This happened only in February of 2007. I did not want Tara to be forgotten.

The Oldest Inmate Is Ready to Confess. Sort Of.

Charles Friedgood, 88, has been in prison three decades. He says some events in his life were unnecessary: "If you don't want to be with a woman anymore, you divorce. You know, you don’t have to resort to murder."

It could have been the perfect crime. A wealthy heart surgeon from Long Island injected his 48-year-old invalid wife, the mother of their six children, with a lethal dose of a painkiller. The death certificate recorded the cause as a stroke.

But the police were suspicious from the start because the surgeon had signed the certificate himself and immediately shipped the body out of state for burial. Five weeks later, he was arrested at Kennedy International Airport trying to leave the country with more than $450,000 of his wife’s cash, negotiable bonds and jewelry.

The Cycle Of Violence
  • Abuse — The abuser lashes out with aggressive or violent behavior. The abuse is a power play designed to show the victim "who is boss."
  • Guilt — After the abusive episode, the abuser feels guilt, but not over what he's done to the victim. The guilt is over the possibility of being caught and facing consequences.
  • Rationalization or excuses — The abuser rationalizes what he's done. He may come up with a string of excuses or blame the victim for his own abusive behavior—anything to shift responsibility from himself.
  • "Normal" behavior — The abuser does everything he can to regain control and keep the victim in the relationship. He may act as if nothing has happened, or he may turn on the charm. This peaceful honeymoon phase may give the victim hope that the abuser has really changed this time.
  • Fantasy and planning — The abuser begins to fantasize about abusing his victim again, spending a lot of time thinking about what she's done wrong and how he'll make her pay. Then he makes a plan for turning the fantasy of abuse into reality.
  • Set-up — The abuser sets up the victim and puts his plan in motion, creating a situation where he can justify abusing her.

It took eight years for a conviction in the murder of Belinda Temple who was pregnant at the time of her death.

David Mark Temple, a coach and a former Katy High School football star, was convicted of murder Thursday: a killing that would allow him to be with another woman, prosecutors said.

Tom Capano murdered Anne Marie Fahey when she broke off her relationship with him. He shot her in his home, and then he and his brother dumped her body into the Atlantic ocean. Her body was never recovered. She worked for the Governor of Delaware at the time of her murder, I believe. Several books have been written about the case. He was given the death penalty, but I believe that has been overturned, so he will spend the rest of his miserable life in prison.

Annie kept a diary, and her last entry in it exposed Tom Capano for the controlling maniac she had finally seen. In most of her diary she referred to him by his initials "TC" and I remember when they were looking for her, Tom Capano insinuated she was really referring to her boss, the governor, Tom Carper. He was as slimy as they come. He is where he deserves to be.

Debra Fielder's dismembered and cremated body was found in W VA. Her atttorney ex-husband was convicted.

Fielder gets life without parole

MARTINSBURG, W.VA. — Stephen R. Fielder's bid for a new trial or acquittal was denied Monday, meaning the Berkeley County attorney will be spending the rest of his life behind bars.

and

Fielder was convicted of first-degree murder last month in the grisly death of his ex-wife.

and

"As I expressed at trial, I'm sorry for the death of Debra Fielder," Stephen Fielder said before he was formally sentenced.

"She was, at the time we were married, a wonderful person."

On the witness stand, Fielder claimed his ex-wife's death on Aug. 11, 2006, was an accident that happened during a confrontation at his house off Winchester Avenue (U.S. 11) in Bunker Hill, W.Va. Fielder on Monday renewed claims that he believed his ex-wife had plotted that day to "clean him out" financially because of her addiction to crack cocaine and methamphetamine.
