Ever since the movies "Taken" and "Taken 2" came out, many people want to try and blame every missing young girl (and some older women) on sex trafficking. People fail to realize that the majority of the girls that get wrapped up in that are already vulnerable to drugs, sex, and the criminal element to begin with. The last thing sex traffickers would want is all of the heat that would come down on them because they decided to start scooping up soccer moms and elementary school teachers and attempting to turn them into sex slaves.
I wonder how many times, in how many threads people will need to be reminded of this.

I too noticed the physical similarities between DS & EH and I agree that it is beyond bizarre that a single woman who lived alone would go through all the trouble to climb onto a roof to commit suicide. Also, information re: EH's disappearance/death has been almost swept under the rug. There have been very little updates since her body was found. With that said, I think it is unlikely that a murderer would drag a victim up on to a roof...

My first thought in that case was if she was murdered, he obviously worked at Home Depot. But that case was every bit as strange as Elisa Lam.

One that I'm pretty convinced WAS trafficked is Amy Bradley..but she was taken off a cruise ship and not in the country.

Holocene have you reached out to the mods to be considered a verified insider? I would like to be able to discuss things with you but until you are all discussions have to be verifiable by msm.
It would be huge for us to be able to chat about things with you freely.
Can you please go thru the process!
I haven't yet but would be more than happy to.

I agree that EH wasn't a murder. Sweeping under the rug and silence lends me to believe the family doesn't want us to know something - that's their right.

BetteDavis, in the cases where the women were found deceased, have you noticed any overarching pattern?

Agreed. Elements of that case are haunting.

Yes, but aren't the Canadians notoriously lax with their border crossings?

Of course it's a risky venture, but if you're getting her over the border, I'm thinking your best bet is to stuff her in the trunk. If I were abducting her, I'd prefer that to having her show her license to a border agent and potentially cause a scene.

This happened shortly after 9/11, at that time you still only needed a drivers license to cross the border from Detroit to Windsor, security has improved since then, but is still pretty lax when crossing into Canada.
When I was 19, my friend who was 17 wanted to come to Canada with us, but couldn't cross the border without parental permission because she was under 18, so I snuck her in under a guitar and blanket in the backseat of an Escort, that didn't even belong to me - it was another friend's vehicle and he wasn't in the vehicle at the time we crossed the border. Border Patrol never even gave me a second glance.

Poor choices and/or decisions. Too much alcohol/drug use. Relationships gone awry. Combination/s of these.

Here's the link to discussion of Elizabeth Hock case here at Websleuths:

http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...lls-6-September-2016&highlight=elizabeth+hock

No indication of foul play associated with Ms. Hock's death. No charges filed in the case that was most likely an accidental or intentional alcohol and/or drug overdose.

BBM.

Elisa Lam. The end to her story will always haunt me. Strange just doesn't cover it.

I have been reading into Amy's case for so long. Sooo long. Amy, along with Elisa, will stay with me forever. I couldn't be more confident Amy was trafficked. The only time I will be more confident of that is when it's proven.

And Amy was not a runaway or on drugs.

My 2 cents from living in this area for 55 years, this is not human trafficking. They don't go after ones like this. This area does not have human trafficking problems, Great Lakes story is not true, which a local PI would know. Someone put a story up that had no proof of human trafficking in Chesterfield Township and is unlikely true. Almost laughable to me on human trafficking in Chesterfield Township.

I'm not finding it all that strange that all these agencies are mentioned as we don't know their involvement. You have a white 28 year old female disappear from Farmington hills, I can easily see Farmington checking in with every agency out there for any type of leads. Fact is a seemingly clean white female of this age disappearing in a place like Farmington Hills is going to get LE attention.

I keep looking at the area Dani's apartment is in to get a better visual on what we are looking at here, just wish I could get started on a case map but as it is now there is nothing to go on :(

My husband said it was likely human trafficking as I was telling him about her disappearance. He said it had been a big problem
in Michigan lately, which is so scary. I mentioned this earlier in the thread, but didn't get any hits on it. I was really hoping that my husband's suggestion was just crazy, but after reading your post it seems it wasn't. This makes me so sad and so scared for Dani.

It is THE dominant theory all LE is pursuing. Most people don't realize that Michigan has huge trafficking problem and it explains the multijurisidictional involvement. I suspect, as this journalist states, it has to do with proximity to border, which is why I found the posters comment interesting that said he thinks he saw her right by the Windsor border, but walking by herself? I suspect he saw somone else. Studies in witness identification done by forensic psychologists show humans are terrible at remembering and identifying faces, especially those of a race different from their own. FYI:

Are you aware in Michigan there has been several trafficking busts, including one I believe in Grand Rapids, MI where the ringleader was advertising pictures of young girls/women, who bidders then "purchased" online. Taken is a film sure, but I have many LEO contacts and I can assure you its a bigger problem than people are aware, and I think they know more than are letting on, with there references to her being "held against her will" vs statistically deceased, which would follow from a serial rapist/stalker type attack. Also please my post referencing an article stating Michigan as the second state (after Nevada) with this problem.

Are we using trafficking and prostitution interchangeably here? Because they are not the same thing, and one of them has been rampant all over the world since time began.

Well, there are multiple motives for trafficking--prostitution being common, as is black market organ trade and forced labor. I would guess number one motive is sex trade. Incidentally I was asked about my bona fides:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_trafficking_in_Michigan

I worked for Jane White for two years at the MSU School of Criminal Justice doing inservice training for LEO. I work mostly in civil investigation private sector now.

<mod snip> None of these are stories of seemingly clean 28 year olds being snatched off the street and forced into human trafficking.

Its 2 different things.
