I'm not so sure, but Zerilli seemed to be someone who might know. He had the right connections.

Zerilli also says Hoffa was buried alive

First of all...WOW!!! If that is the case, what a horrible way to die! Also, if this turns out to be true, then it is pretty interesting that all of the wild speculations about where his remains may be are pretty outrageous in light of just how simple and unplanned the murder truly was.

Question: why wasn't this area searched before? It seems like a pretty obvious place, considering who owned the land!!!

Police dog deployed during second day of Hoffa dig

Robert Snell, Candice Williams and Tony Briscoe | The Detroit News

Oakland Township — Federal investigators resumed a massive dig Tuesday morning to determine whether missing Teamsters boss Jimmy Hoffa is buried in a shallow grave in a local rural field in their effort to solve one of the country’s most enduring mysteries.

Following up a tip from an aging mobster, agents armed with a search warrant, shovels and an earth mover are searching a vacant site in northern Oakland County. It is the latest locale searched by the FBI since Hoffa disappeared from outside a Bloomfield Township restaurant in 1975.

The FBI declined to comment about the search and what, if anything, was found near the intersection of Buell and Adams roads on Monday, the first day of digging. No further details have been released Tuesday...

I could've sworn I read somewhere this morning that they'd found a slab of concrete in this new search.........

...........off to find a link.......

A-ha!

Sounds like the "slabs" are old foundations, though......

It's in this article:

The grave, near a demolished farmhouse and barn, was covered by a concrete slab, Zerilli claims, and Hoffa was supposed to be moved to a spot in Rogers City, but the plan was scrapped because of publicity surrounding the union leader’s disappearance.

Chasnick said the FBI found the slab, though a bureau spokesman declined to comment.

Here we go again...

Am I to believe the mobster who owned that property demolished the barn, but left the slab and the body? Or sold it to someone knowing the body was there? Doesn't make sense. If I'm missing something, please fill me in. (Seriously.)

IMO, maybe maybe maybe maybe Hoffa was placed there at some time, but I'll bet he's not there now and Zerilli knows it. Mission accomplished for Zerilli, though, as he just got tons of publicity while trying to sell his crappy self-published tome, yet not ratting anyone out. Or maybe it's all another joke to get LE running in circles. Oh I forgot, he came forward because he feels guilty and wants the family to have closure. What a stand-up guy. :eyeroll:

But I'd love to be wrong and have this mystery put to rest. Guess I'm just a cynic about these things. JMO YMMV :twocents:

I actually have my hopes up this time.

Regarding Hoffa's body ever being discovered, I've had my hopes up, like, never.

I'm with you woofy. It would get me off the hook.... Mr noZ swears he could be in my workshop ... wandered in & couldn't find his way back to civilization.

I have always leaned toward the "concrete at Yankee Stadium" theory..... years ago I had an interesting conversation with a Teamster guy at a party. He would have bet the bank on that .

Meanwhile, The FBI digs....

Despite help from forensic anthropologists and K9s... nothing so far. Core samples from the slabs and soil yield nothing.

But the search has been widened (maybe Zerilli got "confused" with his facts?):

Meanwhile, Zerilli's lawyer keep tap dancing:

And the cost is...

I really don't expect them to find Hoffa there. What a waste of money for all the searching they have done for him. No one will ever be convicted of his murder. And they thought they would find him at the last Big Dig. Now they are on Big Dig 2. I wonder if the police/FBI pays to restore the property they damage in their searches.

BBM: I would have to disagree with the bolded portion, looking for a victim is never a waste of money.

I believe they compensate the property owner, but it is a flat sum up front, not an actual accounting of restoration costs. As this is an empty field it would be hard for the owner to claim much hardship, versus someone who had their driveway or pool dug up. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, thx.

I had exactly the opposite reaction...why would a mobster bury a victim on his (mobster's) own land? Wouldn't that be the last place you'd bury him?

Who knows? :waitasec:

I thought it belonged to a relative of the mob boss. Maybe I misread that.

IMO,it would not bother the mob to bury someone on their or relatives land.
They would have time to camo the site. Keep watch on it until safe to move.
Maybe thought they covered their tracks so well, they left it alone???

IMO though, I wouldn't trust this loser who is trying to sell his book.

Really hoping FBI finds his remains to give family closure, but most of the mob are probably dead by now so how can FBI prove who did it???:twocents:

Vanishing act: The long, strange search for Jimmy Hoffa

Like a magician in a blue shirt and white socks, James Riddle Hoffa stood outside the Machus Red Fox restaurant in Michigan on July 30, 1975, made a phone call, and vanished.

Some people would later say he seemed nervous as he headed to a supposed meeting there with suspected mob bosses. Some would say they saw a mysterious car leaving the lot. But the one question no one has yet answered for investigators is the essential one: Where did he go?
