Wow, Jane, that is interesting. I hear frustration in that quote!

This is going to get confusing having two threads because this has already been talked about a great deal in the Misty C thread.

Oh I didnt know it was on there...
But it appears others didnt either

I think this is pretty important to be on its own though - don't you?

This was just reported today...

ETA I just had a look in the Misty C thread and I cant find this particular article at all ? what post numbers are they Busylady?

I wasn’t hip to the show Lie to Me until last night/this morning. So needless to say I spent my morning watching all the episodes they had available on fox.com. Anyway, in episode 3 “A Perfect Score” about 5:50 into the show they do a split screen of the judge character and Susan Smith. I cannot stop thinking about the similarities I see between this SS clip and the early ones with Misty. Has someone already made/agree with this association?

I saw that episode!

Ive said from day one that I heard the 911 tape that something was very OFF About the whole thing.

Ive always thought it was for $$$$ and fame..

Someone else put forward a different theory elsewhere and I'm thinking that could be a small possiblity too

But I still think its for $$$ and fame following Caylee Anthony Case....

The timing of it was the first thing that made my stomach lurch..Caylee's Memorial day..

Then Misty's 911 call - made my stomach lurch, then when I saw her on a utbue or media clip, I got the definite opinion she was lying

Article was posted in post 413 and goes from there. I think it is important just knew there was bunches of information and discussion on the Misty thread already.

Thanks BL I'll have a look...

I do think that its a important issue to be on its own...

but I guess mods might merge

"IMO" LE does have POI, they just won't come out and say it for now for good reason. I had read this article below yesterday and thought to myself, the last person who saw Haleigh keeps giving LE inconsistent information. Finding a missing child is hard enough, but when you have someone who is not completely honest about what happen the hours prior to the child being abducted/missing it puts LE in a bad spot on where to look for the child. I pray Haleigh is safe somewhere and that she will be returned, but seeing that the reward is up to $35,000 and still no sign of Haleigh concerns me. Below is part of the article that explains the Statistics you might want to be aware of.

Every time a child comes missing we all have the same thought: It could have been my child. The fear and helpless feeling we get just thinking that there is some predator out there hunting our kids make us sick. Although there are other circumstances that might be involved in each case, the fact is just one: a child has been taken and so is the peace of that family as well. The most recent Amber Alert for Haleigh Cummings, the 5 year old abducted from Satsuma, Fl has raised a red flag in every parent's mind.

One of the crucial steps on finding a child within the first hours of the abduction is to provide your Law Enforcement Agency with current and accurate information about your child. One of the most effective ways to do this is to gather all your child information using software (flashdrive) that will allow the information to be available immediately to FDLE. http://www.jacksonville.com/interac...dren_statistics_you_might_want_to_be_aware_of

ME thinks the Walls are closing in .......................da da da dum

I agree! I pray LE has valuable information.
It is obvious to me these people aren't very intelligent, street smart and are of a poor economic background.

With all the inconsistent statements, the running off and getting married gives me a glimpse of their intelligence and it seems they are not the "sharpest pencils in the box", but that is not an excuse for the inconsistencies in Misty's statements or give her the right to just walk out on LE the other day. Everyone should of been honest from day one regardless. I don't see it as fear for Misty, she looks like a street smart cookie and thinks/acts as if she is getting over on LE and everyone. That is when the ignorance comes to play again and soon the truth will come out "IMO".

During the Today interview, Ron claimed that Misty was NOT a suspect. I believe LE was appalled at that comment and wanted to clear up the issue of who has and has not been cleared asap. Noone has been cleared as of yet as far as I know. I think this thread should stay on it's own for discussion. Thanks for the information that more info is also found in the Misty C thread. It would be great if we could use this thread specifically for the topic of the police coming out and saying MISTY CROSLIN HAS NOT BEEN CLEARED AS A SUSPECT.

This does warrant it's own thread since it's the biggest break in the case we've had for almost 5 weeks. Thanks Jane!

I don't think she got by those big boys. I think they are just letting her believe that she got by them. I think LE knows more that they alre letting on. MOO

I'm sure you're right about LE knowing a lot more than we do.

By now they should have the prior 30 days timeline filled in and know who was around and who wasn't. Did Haleigh have playdates after school with other families and if so, who they are. The list of people at her bus stop and surrounding area.
There's been no word about the weekend before Haleigh went missing and where Misty was or who she was with. That would be crucial information.

All we've heard is that Misty was out of the home for three days prior and came back on Monday and <poof> Haleigh went missing.
But is it true?

~

LE sure didnt give any clues as to what inconsistencies they have concerns over....is it where Haleigh was really sleeping, is it what Haleigh was really wearing, is it that she really didn't put them to bed at 8....or is it that Misty did leave the children alone. Which inconsistency is LE talking about. LE really has left it up in the air.
My gut is still telling me that Misty's initial report of the children being in the big bed is the truth. I think the changing story started there...probably out of fear of what DCF would do if they found out they were all sleeping together. JMO

I think you're right. Your theory makes the most sense.
How can you have two little ones in the same room and only one gets to sleep in the big bed while the other one is off to the side?
RC was probably cautioned about the family bed syndrome and Misty got tripped up in that from the start.

LE better have more than just these little inconsistencies if they are hanging this case on her.

IMO~

Speaking of the Today interview, when Meredith asked Misty about her inconsistent statements, turned to Ronald, paused awhile to say I don't know. If you tell the truth the first time, you never have to remember your words. The truth will continue to flow...I don't think this is the case with Misty. I have a strong gut feeling, she left those children alone to go "hang" with some friends, got back before Ronald did and found Haleigh gone. I also haven't heard much about this alleged argument the neighbor heard around 2:25am that same morning.

Ronald looked smug when he told Meredith, hey, I was at work. As if this alibi gets him off the hook. I haven't heard if LE checked and he was at work and he didn't leave for any length of time. All I hear is everyone is a suspect, no one has been cleared.

Where is Haleigh?

After their shotgun marriage, they took their mini honeymoon to NYC, why? Haleigh is still missing and how can they leave their home knowing Haleigh has not been found. Where is the concern?

Something is terribly wrong with how this is going, over 5 weeks and no signs of Haleigh. Nothing to say a crime was commited in that home where she slept but Haleigh didn't just vanish into thin air. No leads, no one in that neighborhood is talking?

Such reassuring, heartwarming news as you're cozying up to your new bride... JMO
:parrot:

Oh-I think he's in on it too! I think she's covering for him. He promised her a marriage out of this. She's young and dumb and he likes young girls he can control and possibly cover for him while he was at work. He sure made a point of saying that on the Today Show.

SS, you've probably already read this but I read this article just this morning.
This page or chapter is very interesting. I'll leave the link here in case anyone wants to take a look.

http://www.trutv.com/library/crime/notorious_murders/famous/smith/invest_7.html

A few paragraphs down explains the different strategies used to probe for the truth.

I had not seen this before and it is very enlightening. Thanks!

The FBI's profile described a woman in her twenties, who grew up or lived in poverty, was under-educated, had a history of either physical or sexual abuse or both, remained isolated from social supports, had depressive and suicidal tendencies and was usually experiencing rejection by a male lover at the time she murdered.

~snip~

Klaas did not believe that Susan harmed her children, instead he thought that the Smiths were involved in a custody battle and that Susan had hidden the children from David.

http://www.trutv.com/library/crime/notorious_murders/famous/smith/invest_7.html

This could describe either one of them.

IDK, Surfinsue, seems LE are satisfied "so far" with RC's interviews..

I was torn with this myself. I knew he went to work but wondered if he had an hour lunch break or whatever it would be called at that time of the morning. I don't know how long the travel is for him between home and work but he sure seems he's covered with his alibi of being at work when this happened.

I also read Misty was gone for 3 days where did she go and when did this take place, who was she with?

Investigators also met Wednesday with Cummings, he said.

"We are satisfied with the interviews that we have had so far with Ronald, and his account of the eight hours in question," Bowling added.

Detectives are building a timeline including anyone who had contact with Haleigh during that time. Bowling described the repeated questioning sessions as a normal part of a major investigation.

They have confirmed he was at work and, IIRC, his lunch break is 30 minutes. The drive from the job site is 26 minutes one way.

Just a few sentences that caught my eye from reading the link that drumstick provided in post number 613.

Snipped:

"One of the investigators' tactics was to build up the media frenzy directed at David and Susan Smith."

(Interesting and I wonder if the immediate comment after the Today show by LE stating outright that MC had not been cleared as a suspect would fall in line with this type of strategy? Also, not only did they not say she hadn't been cleared but they actually remarked about her behavior on the Today show stating to the effect that now we (the public) know what it's like to interview her).:waitasec:

"The investigators contacted the producers of America's Most Wanted and had them tape a segment on the disappearance of the Smith brothers." I know that AMW has a Haleigh page so to speak, did her episode ever air? I missed it. Even if it did I want to go back and see exactly what was said in that segment. How the information was presented and what wasn't said as well.

Interesting.

Yes. I did note in the Susan Smith case, the inconsistencies were on a much larger scale with lies they could easily confirm such as the traffic light, the person she was to go visit, no one seeing her at Walmart, etc.

In this case, they can't pin her down unless she is lying about leaving the children and someone can place her in another location. They can't say she is lying about the shirt as there is no way to verify it being on Haleigh. They can't say she is lying about the blankets, the time, or other things without being able to verify those either.

I guess it would appear they have to try to go for a confession which could explain the many interviews and LDTs as well as the "bad cop" interrogation. (It did smack of Susan Smith, I will admit!)

We studied KC and others as a sociopath, liar etc...........
Now we should look close at Misty, plus bring in molestation (IF IT HAPPENED)
and being on her own since she was 14?
any shrinks here???
