#DerekChauvinTrial - Williams responds calmly multiple times to Nelson's questions with, "You can't paint me out to be angry."

Now redirect of Donald Williams by prosecutor Matthew Frank.

When Nelson was done, Williams gave a little nod and looked over at the jury.

Frank: You weren't watching a sport that day, were you?

Williams: No, I was not.

Frank: Mr. Nelson asked you about time someone has been unconscious in a MMA fight, regaining consciousness and trying to fight again...when some is rendered unconscious, is the fight stopped?

Williams: Right away

Sidebar huddle.

Frank: When you're dealing with a crowd as a security guard and you have a crowd that's upset,, would it help to have other security guards present?

Williams: Yes, it does.

Frank asked about when fmr. officer Tao put his hand on Williams'' chest. Williams said he's immediate reaction was to swipe his hand away. He said he felt threatened.

On redirect, prosecutors ask if in his MMA experience, has Donald Williams ever seen a fighter handcuffed or a 3-on-1 fight? Williams chuckles, and says no.

When asked by Nelson, Williams says “You can go unconscious in a blood choke within seconds”.

Nelson is now asking Williams about his arrival to 38th and Chicago.

Nelson, “Did you hear any of the conversation occurring between the three officers..?”

Williams, “No”

Nelson asking Williams about name-calling of officer on the scene.

Nelson, “You called him a tough guy.. you called him a bum at least 13 times.”

Williams confirms he did.

Nelson keeps asking Williams whether he grew angrier and angrier.

Williams replies he kept himself “inside his body” and remained professional, objects to description of being angry.

Nelson wraps up and Assistant Attorney General Matthew Frank resumes questioning.

Frank, “In MMA do you ever have a situation where there are three people fighting against one?”

Williams, “Never”.

Frank asks when Williams was at38th and Chicago, “was it that kind of blood choke you thought you were seeing? On one side of the neck?”. Williams confirms it was.

Frank asks Williams about strategies to control a crowd. Williams references experience as security guard and says he tries to be “humane” and deescalate a situation.

Frank asks Williams about interaction with then-officer Tou Thao, where Williams says Thao put his hand on his chest.

In response to Frank’s question, Williams shows how he says he swiped the hand away and describes stepping back on the curb.

Frank, “Was there a time when you saw Mr. Floyd lose consciousness?”

Williams, “That is correct”.

Frank, “So you were concerned about Mr. Floyd losing his life?”

Williams, “Correct”.

Now it’s back to Nelson for questioning.

It screams of desperation to try and blame the crowd for all of this.

At this very moment in time, after watching the video this am, I'm inclined to think that all 3 on GF knew he was even more than unconscious. In the video, LE SAID no pulse. Lane and his partner got up off GF at that point from his buttocks/lower back and legs. Chauvin remained in position after the other two got off GF prior to ambulance. And that they did NOT want to do life-saving efforts due to "saving face" with the crowd.

ERGO, the defense is that Chauvin stayed on his neck as he was too skeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeered of what might happen if they turned him over in the street to do CPR.

MOO

Or are they not allowed to?

Not withstanding, they didn't even put him in the recovery position!

Donald Williams was not angry...he was pleading for #GeorgeFloyd's life. #DerekChauvinTrial Nelson is trying to blame the bystanders for the murder of Floyd. At no time were the officers in danger from Floyd or the bystanders.

If I was the prosecuting attorney, I would drive a police car right into the courtroom, throw open the truck, point to the oxygen tank and mask, and ask "What is this for?". I probably would not last in the job. I am having a hard time watching any of this trial. So many bystanders tried to change this horrible outcome. Why were they ignored?????

I was dreaming of so many in court re enactments that have been done last night (the one of the lady lawyer bringing a mattress bed into the courtroom  for stabbing comes to mind..can't recall which trial that was)....

and dreaming of Williams doing an example of the same actions on Chauvin in court

The thing about that is, Mr. Williams probably wouldn't do it, because he has empathy and humanity.

Donald Williams is done testifying. Judge Cahill is now moving onto these 4 "minor" witnesses. Cahill explains to jury that there are some slight protocol modifications to accommodate their testimony while providing privacy in open court. Audio only on the feed

Next witness up is Darnella, who shot the widely seen bystander video of #GeorgeFloyd deadly arrest. She is just known in court as "Darnella." @FOX9

Well it looks like keeping her off camera has not worked. I could see her through the plexiglass.

The next witness is the teen who shot the viral Facebook video. She just had a birthday and turned 18.

This next witness says they were taking cousin to Cup Foods to get snacks on May 25, 2020

Blackwell “Were you concerns about your safety waking to Cup Foods..”

Witness, “No”.

Blackwell is showing surveillance footage of scene, depicting Darnella xxxx’s approach. At the door, she directed her cousin into the store and she turned back around and walked over to the scene.

She says, “It wasn’t right, he was suffering, he was in pain” about Floyd.

We can’t see her but it sounds from her voice as though Darnella is very upset as she identifies #DerekChauvin.

Blackwell asks Darnella to describe the crowd of people, “would you describe yourselves as an unruly mob...?”

Darnella, “No, I would say everyone were reacting multiple different ways”.

Darnella is emotional as she testifies about what she witnessed. Describing seeing a man "terrified, scared, in pain.. begging for his life." She recalls hearing #GeorgeFloyd saying "I can't breathe, calling for his mama..he was suffering." She pulled out her phone to shoot video.

10m
Darnella testified she was alone on sidewalk when she began recording video of #GeorgeFloyd arrest on her cell phone, but other bystanders joined within a minute or so. She was particularly upset when shown a photo of Chauvin from the scene & asked to confirm his ID.

6m
Darnella was asked by prosecutors whether she would describe bystanders during #GeorgeFloyd deadly arrest as an "unruly mob?" Defense didn't like the question. But Frazier answered, no, that everyone was reacting in different ways. "It wasn't right."

4m
Darnella added that the only "violence" she witnessed outside Cup Foods was the violence perpetrated by the Minneapolis police officers. Would seem this will be another difficult cross examination for #DerekChauvin defense atty Eric Nelson.

Blackwell asks whether any bystander ever threatened the police, Darnella says no.

Blackwell, “Amongst the bystanders there, did you see any of them make an effort to offer care for Mr. Floyd?”

Darnella, “I heard them say get off of him, you’re hurting him, he can’t breathe”

Darnella says when she arrived, Mr. Floyd was restrained, in handcuffs, and #DerekChauvin had his knee on Floyd’s neck.

She describes what Floyd said as, “pretty much he was saying how much in pain he was, he couldn’t breathe”.
