Over-explaining and giving conflicting information. The resident could not have been both "home sporadically" and "in bed" [In bed when btw? The entire time, for 2.5 days?]. So either statements are being taken out of context, or the attorney is changing his story.

To me, it seems that there might be a couple of elephants in the room that we fail to notice because we don't know those people at all. It would look as if the attorney tries to hint at something too obvious to the locals who know all four (or five), but we, unaware of their personalities or reputation, get more and more confused.

The attorney was also quoted (I linked the article twice recently) as saying his client did not see the 3 friends exit the house and two sentences later says, his client saw them leave and then went to bed. So what to believe?

From the NewsNation Banfield interview, I also missed the part about where they had watched the game, and then went to JW’s house after the game to play video games and hang out.

I love her question about the fifth guy who was there, when the attorney says “he’s not really a mystery person”.
Banfield: “I’m so glad he’s not a mystery person. What’s his name? “.
Of course then he can’t reveal his name, lol.

She also pointedly asks if drugs were involved. He states not able to answer the question about drugs, due to ‘confidentiality’… but the way he does it he seems to me to be admitting there were drugs there.

The attorney stated:

The basic scenario is they had watched the Chiefs game in a couple of different places. They went back to his place afterwards to play some video games and hang out. And at some point during that process, he got tired and he fell asleep. … When he woke up, they were gone,” Picerno added.
And he states thatthey were going to leave and he escorted them to the door. “

The front door, not the back door. And he saw them leave and go out the front door.

My guess is the buddies went to Willis house to partake in drugs. They were likely already lit from the game. They pry sat there with Willis for a while (who they didn’t really know well) and then went outside to get started and chill for a while together outside. Willis was probably drugged out himself for two days hence the no looking aroun at cars outside and picking up phones (No job on a Monday?) I don’t believe he had any involvement other than supplying. I dont think he’d be so stupid as to leave dead bodies on his back porch and backyard if he were aware they were actually there. the guy on the back porch tried to get inside I think. All jmo. Looking forward to the toxicology report.

The fact that the fiancé had to bust in is awful. The guy not answering phone calls is messed up. MOO
The worst part is that she was obviously extremely worried about her fiancé, and then she encounters a scene out of a horror movie, dead bodies, etc. [she encountered his body on the back porch and police soon discovered the other 2].

Most fenced backyards have a side gate so that you can bring lawnmower/garden supplies from garage to backyard. Did this backyard have a gate? If not, then possible they were "trapped" in backyard? Did any neighbors hear any screaming from the victims calling for help? Did any of the victims text any of their loved ones while in backyard? Most people do not walk around, let alone leave a house, without a phone in hand, let alone three. I wonder if the three were smokers and they just stepped out to backyard to smoke, but they were already laced up with fentanyl from some drugs they took earlier, so it hit all three of them at same time while smoking in backyard? This case is sooo bizarre. I can totally understand if the guy who lives there is wearing headphones and has a fan on if his loud friends are still there playing games; however, two days after? No checking his phone?

No. The game ended at 6:25pm central time.
Where are people getting 9pm?

This is some bad bad reporting going on if that's the case. First the three went over to watch the Chief's game, now they went over AFTER the game. Did they maybe go over for the night game? Did that 5th friend say hey I'm going over to JW's to watch the night game, wanna come?

Lawyer also said JW didn't see the 3 exit the home AND he saw them leave and he went to bed. Now he never saw them leave, they were still in his house when he went to bed. This lawyer is all over the place. These tox tests and autopsy reports can't come back soon enough

Ok now this is the forth version...JW walked the 3 to the front door and they left his house into the front yard!!?? What in the world is up with this lawyer? What's next?!

How is it that we are 3+ weeks out from the discovery of the bodies and things are even more confusing? Oy.

Rabid Chiefs Fans (my BIL is one such) will watch all Chiefs games, regardless of whether Mahomes and other starters are playing or whether a playoff berth is in the bag. ;)

MOO

Wow, so the story, via the lawyer, has gone from JW didn't see them exit the house to he walked them to the FRONT door and said goodnight, turned around and crashed on the couch. I wobder if the reason he had to drastically change that story was the 5th guy being interviewed told the front door story and JW's story needed to jive with that? If that frint door exit/goodbye is the truth of it, why/how in the world did the three wind up frozen to the ground after that? The families and friends are right, not adding up at all. AJMO

I suspect that JW is an unreliable narrator and very confused/addled about what happened. There was something going on with all four men that evening, which impaired them.

So now there's a 5th person <modsnip>

In my view, there's been conflicting accounts (including the ones reported by IE based on unverified FB posts) since the beginning.

But the picture is looking a bit more filled in. And the answer seems to be "drug related."

IMO (and in the opinion of many of you). Seems to be quite a few of these multiple (weekend) deaths arrayed around drug use - although in many cases, the public seems not to find out the details, especially if it's not a criminal case.

Very sad for the surviving friends and family. It's shocking how many of these multiple deaths of young men seem to be occurring in relationship to "partying."

You’re right. He’s got 30 years experience and really should know better.
He may have 30 years experience, but I don't believe he's ever been involved in a high-profile case with national interest before and I think he's out of his element.

I've seen it before with attorneys in other cases. They see their chance to become the next Johnny Cochrane and lift their practice into the stratosphere. So they focus on doing tv interviews and getting their name in the papers instead of representing their client.

Edit - Reminds me of Monica Lewinsky's first attorney, William Ginsburg. He was a friend of the family, but acted like a total buffoon on the national stage. That guy was a trip.
