Of course, NYC is far away from McDonald County MO, but everything else is pretty close.

The date she was last seen in NYC (23-Oct-1990) is about a week before Grace Doe's estimated date of death (31-Oct-1990)

Furthermore, her age (31) is at the upper end of the range, and her height (5'4") is within an inch of the 5'3" estimate. Her facial shape is similar.

And there is nothing in the circumstances to suggest that she died in the vicinity of where she was last seen.

Just realized that I had not yet called in Marie Musial's name, so I just did now. Det. Howard says that she has not heard that name yet, and will try to find what identifiers are available for her right away.

Hi Sleuther's,

I talked with Detective Howard today and she is trying to either eliminate or include Musial, but there aren't any dentals or DNA she can find.

Do any of you all know if there are any?

If she hasn't already, I would suggest that she contact Kim Law (i.e., Marie Musial's NamUs Case manager). Her e-mail address and telephone number is listed in the Contacts section of her NamUs casefile.

Hi all,

Latest update from Detective Howard is that UNT was able to extract DNA from some of Grace's teeth. They have 5 markers, but need 8 to get the information into CODIS and NamUs.

She has sent additional molars to the lab and says, "I feel really positive we'll get the additional markers with the four molars I'm sending in."

Howard talked to a detective working on Marie Musial's case and was told there is no DNA available for her. Musial's detective told Lorie that they would attempt to locate a family member of Marie's for DNA.

The forensic artist that is working on a new rendering for Grace has been bogged down with other cases but promised he would start working on Grace soon.

i always catch my breath when I see 'Graces face' she looks very similar to someone I know in a professional context. But I live in New Zealand so its seems very unlikely that this person is related to Grace doe.

Do they have a positive ID on Grace Doe? (wishful thinking I guess...)

Hi all,
Musial's detective told Lorie that they would attempt to locate a family member of Marie's for DNA.

Makes me really think how important it is every one read David Van Norman's piece, including family and friends who report a loved one missing.

Thanks, Kathee. The video shows a plaster cast of Grace's teeth. This will be valuable when comparing to possibles with smiling photos. Grace's upper front incisors lined up quite flat. They don't arch as with most people.

Unfortunately, we don't have a photo of Marie Musial where she is showing her teeth

Just a few thoughts as I was reading this thread. Here is a link to info about American Indian dentition [several links to explore] also if she was American Indian and adopted out, the dental work would not be an anomoly, providing she was adopted into a caring family. I would think, once they can determine the DNA and get an idea of what tribe/Nation she was from, then check the adoption records for AI children for 25+ years prior to her being found.

The ligatures had me thinking it was military and the location that it was a truck driver. There are so many thoroughfares near this remote place; 71 to 44 and 70 and any Interstates south. I've also wondered if there was more than one perpetrator, the 'overkill' aspect of the knots.

I do hope her identity is found.

Shovel shaped incisors display enhanced marginal ridges and present with a distinctive shovel-shaped appearance on the lingual aspect. They appear frequently in many persons of Asian origin, including many Native American Indians. They are especially prominent in Eskimo/Inuit who are descendants of Siberians about 4,000 years ago.

Think about the inside of a teaspoon. By holding the spoon by its handle with the inside of the spoon to your left, you can recognize the scoop. The teeth are straight on the front and do not look like 'buck teeth.'" Shoveling affects the first four upper and lower teeth, the two front teeth and the tooth on either side of them. You can feel this with your tongue or your finger

There's no photo of Sharon Smith of Little Rock AR, but her height is within an inch, and she is at the upper end of the age range. Her hair is listed as "Red / Auburn" compared to Grace's "Brown" hair. She was last seen about three months before the approximate date that Grace was thought to have died, and was last seen at a Greyhound bus terminal.

Her NamUs casefile was just created a few days ago.

Another new no-photo NamUs MP who also fits the description is Linda Lee Moore of Seattle. She was last seen two days before the critical 31-Oct-1990 date. However, her hair is indicated as black.
