not bad in terms of general appearance and timing. the UID was listed as having brown hair and Belinda was stated as having black hair. also the UID had great dental care and Belinda's is silent on dentals. does not mean she did not have a dentist, but they have no dental records for Belinda.

I have not checked this thread in a while but it was my recollection that the person assigned to this UID was very receptive to any suggested matches so if someone wants to submit Belinda, don't be shy about it!

The day after I wrote my last post I ended up going out of town for 10 days and didn't have reliable internet access, so haven't submitted her yet.

So this is a really dumb question, but who would I submit this to? Detective Howard? Or someone else?

Identity may soon be known
More than 20 years after her bones were discovered down a lonely McDonald County Road, “Grace Doe,” may soon be identified.

The article is a year and a half old. DNA was supposed to be ready by February 2012 but nothing came of it I suppose.

Here is an article from June 2012.

Oops!!

That article just came in on my FB newsfeed, and I didn't check the date.

Thanks, Joeytes

NAMUS uploaded an artists rendering yesterday.

The rendering itself isn't new, but it hadn't been available in Namus previously.

Has anyone looked at Frankie Hurst yet?

http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/h/hurst_frankie.html

Height and weight match up. Frankie "usually wears tight jeans, t-shirts, sneakers and her wedding ring". Grace didn't seem to be found with a wedding ring, but then animals had scattered her bones through the thick brush. He clothing was described as "Blue jean coat, white t-shirt, "Lee" brand blue jeans, socks" and "White "Fitness" brand hi-top tennis shoes (7 1/2)"

Her last known location was "Kansas" (apparently she didn't say where exactly) but Mac County (where she was found, specifically) is only about 35 mins from the Kansas border. The only thing I don't like is the time range - she last contacted her family in May of 89 - a year and a half before Grace was found. But then, she did lead somewhat of a transient lifestyle, hitchhiking across the Midwest... and there was some speculation that Grace was held for a while before she was killed.... so it's a possibility?

You would think if the boy told his parents more then once there is a dead body they could have at least checked it out! or he could have taken one of his friends out there to have another witness to make them believe him. seems weird he would just go look at this dead body a few times and just mention it casually to his parents.

One more thing while thinking about Frankie - She had dark, curly hair. According to this article, so did Grace.

Right age, weight, height, hair, general geograpghic location.... Frankie preferred to wear jeans, t-shirts and sneakers, just like Grace was found in.
But would Frankie have gone a year and a half without calling her family? Even though she was traveling across the country checking in infrequently, the last time she called her family was on Mother's day. Seems like she would have also called on Christmas or at least the following mother's day.

Here's a link to Namus for more pictures of Frankie.

Frankie Hurst looks very likely to me.

Regardless of what the boy told his parents, or what witnesses who came forward many years later heard on Halloween, I don't think it is possible for a body to decay from just deceased to scatter bones and hair, in just over one month. Especially in the cooler time of year and despite scavengers.

As an outdoorsmen, I have watched many animals decay over time in the woods. In the cool season, at just over one month, there should have been plenty of tissue left. I think she had been there much longer than a month.

Any followup on Frankie Hurst? The fact that she was with a trucker named Robert..

Yeah, that sounds bad, doesn't it? If he got her, she could be anywhere.

p.s. this is the guy we're referring to, in case you aren't familiar with him: http://www.gq.com/story/truck-stop-killer-gq-november-2012

"His trucking logs place him in the area of fifty unsolved murders in the three years prior to his arrest alone. While not all fifty cases have been tied to Rhoades yet and Rhoades himself has admitted to only three murders, the FBI has strong reason to believe that at his peak he was killing one to three women a month."

I tried to send an email to the person listed on the Grace Doe NamUs page but the email got sent back to me. Barbara Lenz is a relative of my aunt.
