I just don't see her weight/size/age as the cause of her murder...

Classito

No, but her appearance may be a huge factor if the crime was sexually motivated. Could be drugs, could even be a hate crime. But, if it were due to the perp.'s attraction to her, then her appearance could be very relevant. Of course rape (if that occurred, of course we don't know for sure) is ultimately about power and control, and she was so tiny; i.e., easy to overpower.

I heard this report, from a UK study, on the radio yesterday that I will post because so many people involved in this case have tattoos. By no means is this a complete list.
 • D "Boone" B's body is covered in them.
 • BRudd has them. At least one of his tattoos is the name of Jessica is large letters.
 • Ben Chambers has a tattoo on his arm although I could not discern what it is exactly since he was wearing short sleeves during an interview that partially covered it.
 • AShields has the name of Eric tattooed on her upper chest.
 • RH has them on both arms as shown in his mugshot.
 • Anonymous does not have a tattooed face. He wears a mask.

People who have tattoos are 'more aggressive' than those who don't

Researchers say they have found a link between tatoos and anger

...the more tattoos you have, the angrier you are.

“tattooed individuals reported significantly higher levels of verbal aggression, anger, and reactive rebelliousness compared with non-tattooed adults.”

...links between tattooed and non-tattooed people when it came to educational qualifications but found no significant differences

...tattooed adults had higher aggression scores <snip>, namely verbal aggression and anger.”

...findings may have implications <snip> associations between tattooing and risky behaviour among adults

Body Modifications and Human Perception

Current research indicates that body modifications can drastically alter perceptions of the tattooed/pierced A 2007 survey indicated that 85% of employees in various industries considered body piercings and tattoos as an impediment to getting a job (Pyrillis, 2010) Forbes (2010) study Burger, T. D., & Finkel, D. (2002).

Have mercy...I was a small, skinny child, teenager, and adult...Far from being caused by undernourishment or abuse...If I hold it at 100 lbs I'm ecstatic...I burn it off as fast as I eat it...People read too much into it when it comes to a person's size...What I want to know is what was the teachers weight..Was she above or below the scale...Did she overeat because she was abused? Was she overweight because she was neglected...? Or was she the perfect weight government tells us we must be...?

Classito
I was underweight most of my young life as well. I was also an only child, but I dad have cousins who were also very slim,as was my mom. At 32 my mom was 88 lbs and had an 18 inch waist.
JLC siblings were not tiny like her.
We know about the charges her dad had during her childhood. For me that's where the concerns begin. Her moving out after Ben Jr. died... People have spoken about her home life. I have no idea what is true and what is exaggerated. I do know she didn't love to see her 20th birthday. She had a story to tell and I suspect that is why she was killed.
The teachers speaking about her in the video were not large women. I don't think the teacher's found it concerning that she was so small.
Maybe it was just in her genes, Jessica may have even had a slight eating disorder. Many girls do because it's sometimes its the only thing in their life that they have control over.
It's a sad situation all around.
Poor girl.

JC is a petite girl- makes sense she must have always been small. Pediatricians plot growth curves to ensure they are following their own path. Just wanted to mention another perspective and maybe this teacher was making an "off the cuff" remark not literally a 3T.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I agree. Maybe she had always been below average on the chart. In the video at the link, the teacher said she looked at the tag in Jessica's clothes and saw 3T on the label.-
It didn't sound like she purposely was looking to see what size Jessica wore, she just happened to notice.
I know I have never looked at the size of any child's or adult's clothes. <-- that would be weird! Lol

Very interesting!
Both of my kids have 2 tattoos each. My husband and I always talked about getting one, but neither of us have.
I know JLC sister has several as well. I have never gotten any confirmation as to whether Jessica had any. The Shields girl that is the same age had 8. I thought that # was high for someone under 20, until I realized her husband does them.

O/T As a nurse, I've always found it funny when someone tattooed all over tried to tell me how they were afraid of needles. Scared of a 10 second "shot" but laid on a table for how many hours to have all of their tats done. <--- I don't get it. [emoji12]

Wow, indeed! Someone needs to ask that reporter what exactly was said that led to her statement!

I have thought for a long time now that there is a lone perp.

MotherOcean, I've sent the Clarion-Ledger reporter (Therese Apel) an email requesting clarification, if she still has her notes from back in December. No guarantee she will ever respond though. I'll let you know if she does.

I think, however, it's clear from the multiple interviews she edited together for this video that she had been struck by a recurring them: "Everybody knows everybody." So I'm curious, had ME been living in Courtland long enough for "everybody" to know him, too?

JMO

Looks like he has lived there all his life...

"Michael Eubanks, who has lived in Courtland all his life, said the scary part is that if everyone knows Chambers, that means everyone knows the person or people who did this to her."

Very curious. Would "all his life" include the year 2008?

Not sure ...But he was registered as living at 124 Main St in Courtland MS...(keys were rumoured to have been found in ditch at this address)
http://state.sor.dps.ms.gov/OffenderSearchResults.aspx

I would also like to add that Michael Eubanks would have been around 19-21 at time of charge....Many 16 yr old girls have dated 20 yr olds...At least they did in my time...Today they are charged as pedophiles...even though the age is not that far apart...Not saying he was charged for a 16 yr old...But saying that is usually the case with younger men being on the sex offender list..

Is it true that jc only left the house for a store run for mom. Or did she really leave for a party.

It is my understanding that Jessica left her home to go clean her car (even though her mom was fussing about her not cleaning her room) and to get something to eat. While she was at M&Ms, her mom called and reminded her to purchase her cigarettes.

If ME had committed this horrific crime against JC, would he have dropped her car keys in the ditch in front of the home where he lived?

It has been my opinion, since earlier this year, that JC was not raped before her death. The perp did not rape her then allow her to redress before banging her on the head and setting her and her car on fire. That was not the purpose for her death.

Yowzer, DeDee. Using your figures I estimate the population of Courtland to be (16 sex offenders) x (32 residents per sex offender) = ~512. If I ratio the 16 offenders in 500 up to a larger population of 10,000 the statistic would be (16) x (10,000/500) = 320 SO's per 10,000 population.

Your same website gave the national average as 14.51 offenders per 10,000 residents. SO... Courtland would appear to hold the world record, on a percentage of population basis, coming in at around 22 times the national average.

Maybe something in the water? I guess I'll have to chalk one up in the positive column for ole RH. At least he's not a sex offender.

JMS (just my statistics)

p.s. From the title of your post, it sounds like sex offenders are in HIGH cotton when it comes to certain parts of Panola County.

I was thinking the same thing, Classito.

But those latest charges next-door in LA leave no such doubts. He is violent, and he has a tendency to use arson with gasoline and a lighter as a means of threatening other folks. I'd say that, plus his residing in Courtland at the time of Jessica's fiery death, are three very hard things to just blow off.

This is why I feel its taking so long to make am arrest. Or arrests! AND THESE ARE JUST the few that we know about. How many more are there in the area?
I do feel like there in a nasty "nest" of sexual offenders/ pedophiles in the area and they have been there for generations. IMO. -the silence of the residents is deafening. Being raised in an area like this, a code of silence- it's a personal or "family" matter that they have been taught to not get involved in or speak of - ever. Lots of skeletons in their closets, in my opinion.

Agreed, gngr~snap. On Courtland Pond, if you fired a broadside through one canoe, you might be putting a round through two of your cousin's canoes, too.

"We report strong evidence of familial clustering of sexual offending, primarily accounted for by genes rather than shared environmental influences."

So, while the forum clown (se moi) dances around in his court jester suit, you, DeDee, Classito, and others continue to diligently ferret out and inundate us with germane (but sometimes brain-numbing) facts and figures. Thank you all.

Veering off topic for just a second, one sentence in your latest study really caught my eye: "Plea-bargaining is forbidden in the Swedish judicial system and all crimes are registered regardless of possible offender insanity at the time of perpetration."

Wow. What if we could say the same thing about the United States judicial system? Do you think the DA's and ADA's of America might be just a tiny wee little teensy bit part of the crime problem over here? I'm just sayin'...

Except what was done in Courtland-- few, if any, tracks were left...ditto with witnesses...
