Apparently several important questions were asked at the presser. For example, when discussing the phone call Jessica received shortly before leaving her home sometime between 5 and 5:30 pm, the
ClaironLedger reports:
Officials know who made that call, and they don't believe that person has any bearing on the case.
Then, when discussing Jessica's arrival at a Courtland residence shortly before 6 pm, Champion said
...officials will not elaborate on whose residence that was or what she did there, nor if she picked someone up or dropped someone off.
Finally, when describing Jessica's departure after leaving that residence and subsequent arrival in Batesville, the
ClaironLedger reports:
She went from that residence to the area of Woodland and Highway 6 in Batesville. Champion said there are several businesses there she may have visited, and she was in that area for about 10 to 15 minutes. A separate, privately owned video source caught an image of her in her car during this time, but authorities said they know where she was going.
According to the timeline, Jessica then returned to Courtland "around 6:30 pm".
_______________
From this (and earlier discussions), we know that the CCTV video (which was never corrected for Standard Time) now shows Jessica's arrival at M&M precisely at 05:24:39 pm, and her subsequent departure, heading towards the south end of the parking lot at 05:33:xx pm. This leaves Jessica approximately 27 minutes to travel to a nearby Courtland residence. However we should probably deduct from those minutes for the expression "shortly before 6 pm" and for "opening and closing a car door, and walking to a doorway, and entering a residence"). Thus, I will deduct 8 minutes. That leaves 19 minutes for Jessica to remain at the residence before departing (with or without someone) .
Now, a question arises: Why would Jessica drive to Batesville, spend approximately 10 - 15 minutes but then return back to Courtland "around 6:30 pm?" If the roundtrip drive is a minimum of 15 minutes, this more or less implies that Jessica arrived in Batesville sooner than 6:21 pm. Or she immediately reversed course and returned to Courtland by 6:29 pm. But we already know that Jessica spent approximately 10-15 minutes in Batesville doing something.
Consequently I believe we must assume that LE's references to times such as "shortly before 6 pm" and "sometime around 6:30 pm" are far too vague, and need refinement.
Thus I am willing to say that Jessica drove directly to a nearby Courtland residence and arrived there at 5:41 pm, then left at 5:50 pm, and arrived in Batesville by 5:59 pm, remained there until 6:20 pm, and returned to Courtland by 6:30 pm. Of course, I do not know that these times are precise (which of course they are not!), and I use them only because they provide for all of her activity from the moment that she left M&M util she returned.
What does all of this mean to me?
- we do not know if Jessica had a passenger with her when she left Courtland;
- we do not know where she went for 10-15 minutes while in Batesville;
- we do not know if the Batesville private video captured a passenger when it captured an image of Jessica;
- and finally we do not know why she would make such a short trip in the first place.
Just for the sake of speculation, I am going out on a limb here to suggest that the telephone call around 5-5:15 pm may have been an inquiry as to whether Jessica was headed to Batesville to pick up her weekly check from Goody's; and if she were, then perhaps the caller could get a lift herself because her car was in Batesville being repaired.
Please keep in mind that my final "speculation" is NOT SUPPORTED by a single fact, and is pure speculation based upon absolutely NOTHING CONCRETE. I proffer it only so that other WSers can speculate on their own timeline, filling each stop with an appropriate amount of minutes, covering all the details with a logical explanation.
