Thanks Roselvr - this is the first time I've made a suggestion - I'm from England and not too familiar with American places but am learning! I came across Steven Packard purelyl by chance on the Doe Network update, which in turn linked to Linda Lovell on the Charley project and then I remembered about the Sumter County does - I've checked the likenesses with my work colleagues and they both agree.

Welcome littlemodesty...we are all learning, all the time. Your input is valuable, as the more input, the better the chance of finding their names!

It's entirely possible that their checks were stolen without causing them any harm. They might have just kept going -- in the seventies, plenty of people were bumming around the country with no money at all, getting by on handouts, freebies, and day labor.

Maybe beating a dead horse here but I was doing some research on the 1975 Sebring race that was on the male does shirt. Found the entry list of all race car drivers maybe a good start you never know he could of been part of one of the pit crews or just a friend to anyone on the list. Here is the link to the list: http://www.racingsportscars.com/covers/_Sebring-1975-03-22e.jpg

Also, I am very new at this so don't beat me up if this may have been posted already.

Welcome to Ws jaysc, thanks for the interesting link!

Amazing you found this with all the names on the racing team! Thanks for the research!

I have a link to a news paper of the forensic dentist weighing in on the case back in 1977. Fluted Root Canal was not a common procedure back in 1976 only a few dentist in the country knew how to do it. Here is the link: https://news.google.com/newspapers?id=AIwxAAAAIBAJ&sjid=UqoFAAAAIBAJ&pg=1367,7773272&hl=en

How long do dentist keep records for just wondering?
Your teeth are always an identifying forensic clue when investigating the remains of a deceased person. However if the dentist office where to burn down, all records would be lost unless the family had a copy of the x-rays taken over time. I am researching more on this fluted root canal. I have heard this term used before. Maybe I can find some old x-rays of a family members who had some extensive dental work and root canals and compare the type of work!

I think I found info on the Fluted Root Canal if you look past all the science on the link go down to the last page it has the people who were doing the testing on Fluted root canal efficiencies and has the dates they conducted there studies and the dentist name. http://edsrep.com/flyers/FluteDesignofInstruments.pdf
It checks out from what my previous post about the Forensic Dentist saying it was a new practice and not many dentist using this method.

Hello I am completely new to all of this but in my searches in an attempt to help I came across an article from the 1976 race that they believe they attended.

http://www.finecars.cc/en/editorial...-evolution-of-a-tradition-part-iii/index.html

The woman that is on the hood in the flower romper looks very similar to the JD to me. Also if you notice in the same picture there is a man that is wearing a racing t shirt unfortunately his face is blocked by an elbow. It almost seems the girl is looking at him and paying no attention to the driver that won the trophy. The article states that they had Camel girls that traveled with them.

She is Pattie Huffman Petty. Here is the link: http://www.toadhallracing.com/toad-133.html

After looking at the pictures again. I noticed the guy that has his face blocked is wearing a handkerchief tied around his neck along with the racing t shirt. I am going to look for more pictures from the sebring race to see if we can find a face picture and hopefully identify him as a possible or rule him out.

So I was digging for photos of the sebring race and it was a very big deal so I got to thinking sumter is such an odd place. IMO racing fans that wear racing tshirts are hardcore fans..IMO so I did some looking and there is a dirt race track that back then was called gamecock speedway and some guy wrote a book about sitting in the trees watching the races and so on

http://books.google.com/books/about/Rebel_Speedway.html?id=NOY-0HDzpn0C

so after previewing a few pages of that I did what i was always taught and that was when you are stuck go back to the beginning and try and look outside the box. So that is what I did. August 9th 1976 is a monday takemeback.to/09-August-1976 .... so i started to look and see if there were any races in sumter on august 7th... per the book that i previewed said that they had races every Saturday long as the weather is good .... gamecock sppedway is now active a sumter speedway.
per http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_NASCAR_tracks#cite_note-38
but it is very hard to find anything about a specific race on that day and it is very hard to find the actual racetrack by address bc per
http://southcarolina.hometownlocator.com/maps/feature-map,ftc,2,fid,1242393,n,gamecock raceway.cfm
they only give a long and lat for it so on google maps i tracked it from a road across they street from the track to where they were found and its about a 30 mile or more trek
https://maps.google.com/maps/place?...SA&ftid=0x88557ea9c06bbf49:0x422e5842d34c3e58

if there are any pictures of that race they cant be found there is a youtube video that was taken at the track but no specific date was given they just know it was in 1976 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHu6lf8FfUA

so that lead me no where so i went back again to the beginning again and looked at the watch now on the bulova website for their 140 years celebration history lesson 1968 they came out with the accutron series for the air force one and given as official presidential gifts of state
http://www.bulova.com/en-US/#!/cat/the-legacy/

then i moved onto the ring and this is what IMO make me lean towards they are from Europe somewhere.

so i was looking at when they came out with the linde star and this amy help out tremedously apprarently there is a company that was in competion with the europeans over the making of the stone.
http://www.thebrazilianconnection.com/Linde_info.html

this company stopped production in 1974 due to competition. maybe we can narrow down where the stone came from if it came from this company then you know that there is a specific stop date that they made it.

so that is where I now

Linde stars were quite popular in the US in the 70s, and while they weren't cheap, they were inexpensive enough to be quite accessible.

The rings were also sold in the US; my dad had one. Any idea when they started selling them here?
Was the fluted root canal done in the US and other countries?

so apparently the fluted root canal is the same as what we call a root canal. The patent for the instrument that was used to perform a root canal has a fluted cutting portion at one end, a handle at the other . it was filed aug 11,1969 and granted February 16, 1971. The dentist that submitted the patent is still in practice is LA . I dont know the rules of puttin his name and information on here is .... his name is on the patent.

Can anyone tell me if they have looked into Dikran Knadjian

https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/case_report_html/19337

Dikran checked into Camp Curry Village on 7-24-72 and was never seen again. Dikran is Armenian and speaks with a strong British accent. At the time of his disappearance Dikran was a medical student from Cambridge University vacationing in the United States with plans to visit Florida after his stay at Yosemite and then back to Cambridge. Case notes indicate that he asked the registration desk attendant how to get to Half Dome.

also the ring with the jpf ...IMO those are not initials in french JFP is an acronym for Jeunes Pour la France

which means " There is no limit to the human will, when it is based on a sense of belonging "
http://www.jeunespourlafrance.fr/
translated thru google

From what I can see from his family online they are very successful.
there is also a medical award named after dikran knadjian
issuu.com/mlsmediaonline/docs/kan9-web-final/31

now i know he looks heavier in the nam us case report but that doesnt mean that its not him.
also his father reported him missing thru the embassy
https://www.wikileaks.org/plusd/cables/1975ADDIS05517_b.html

it was to stay on file for 25 years

if someone can tell what steps i need to do to see if this man is the mystery john doe ....IMO I would call the dentist and the mans brother directly but I know I cant do that...

Thanks overly anxious waiting

don't think so.
