Judge Esther Salas' son shot and killed, husband injured in attack at their NJ home

The suspect was a white man who wore a face covering and a FedEx uniform, law enforcement sources told ABC News, and he used an ordinary car to make a getaway.

The suspect was later found dead of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound near Liberty, New York, multiple law enforcement sources told ABC News. A municipal employee discovered the body in a car.

A FedEx package addressed to Judge Salas was discovered in the car, sources said. The suspect who opened fire at the New Jersey home of US District Judge Esther Salas died by suicide near Liberty, NY, multiple law enforcement sources told ABC News.

The suspect was found dead of an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound near Campsite Road and Berry Brook Road in Sullivan County, the sources said. A municipal employee discovered the body in a car.

The deceased suspect was an attorney who, sources said, had a case before Judge Salas in 2015.

My attention has been pretty much nailed to COVID19 for months (and the amount of political nonsense that goes with that). I actually haven't followed the Epstein stuff very closely, other than the basics ('yeah sure he killed himself,' the gossip about Prince Andrew, that's about it).

For those who HAVE followed it more closely, do you think there is a real link here, or that it was just a lone gunman/insane person?

Dead Attorney in NY Eyed in Killing of NJ Federal Judge's Son, Shooting of Her Husband: Sources
''The man's body was found on a property in the Sullivan County town of Rockland, near Liberty, which is in the New York Catskills. One senior law enforcement official says authorities are looking into whether there was a package or envelope addressed to the judge found near the man, who may have died of self-inflicted gunshot wounds. The official said the FBI, US Marshals and police were at the scene, while a vehicle the man was thought to have been using is being searched at a nearby State Police barracks.

They are also investigating whether a gun found at the scene matches the one used to kill Judge Esther Salas' son and wound her husband, law enforcement sources say. Two sources described the dead man as an attorney who filed various sorts of civil lawsuits over the years; no other details were available.''

BBM - how convenient. I don't know what to believe any more.

That article had the sweetest picture of the son. From the article:
"Their son, Daniel, was the only child and he was studying law to follow in his parents' footsteps. He graduated *advertiser censored* laude with honors from St. Joseph's High School in 2018 and was actively enrolled at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C."

He looks like such a wonderful son, he had just turned 20. It would have been kinder the kill the judge herself - I don't know how the parents will stand it.

I see they identified the suspect - it seems from the above article that LE was closing in on him when he killed himself. In my experience, "filed lots of lawsuits" = "not totally sane."

Men’s Rights Lawyer Eyed in Shooting of NJ Judge’s Family

SABBM:

Roy Den Hollander was discovered in the upstate New York town of Rockland, the sources said. He had a case—a challenge to the military’s male-only draft—pending before Salas, according to court documents. <snip>

The case in Salas’ courtroom was filed in 2015 on behalf of the mother of a 17-year-old New Jersey girl who argued that the Selective Service System barring females from registering for the draft while making is mandatory for males was illegal.

Oral arguments on a motion were scheduled for last month but then postponed due to “unforeseen circumstances,” according to the case docket.

If this is indeed the motive for this crime, it's beyond bizarre.

Lawyers are accustomed to procedural delays.
Court cases are being postponed everywhere d/t covid.

I'm wondering if there was another significant life stressor that triggered him, and the judge simply became the focus of his misdirected rage.

I'll be interested to hear what else has been happening in his life recently, e.g., any financial stressors, relationship issues, physical/medical problems, etc.

Clearly, the wheels came off dude's bus completely.
