For those of us who are not fond of guns (!) they are machine guns -- unable to ascertain a difference

what is a meaningful difference ?

Just an FYI and moo....I believe I heard what sounded like an AR10 from multiple videos taken that night.

What part makes you go hmmm? I find it extremely hard to believe if MD was associated with terrorists that shed willingly come back to the US.

Also - regarding the post you quoted, so this is not directed at you - the killer tried to sue the cosmo for only $10k. Def not threatening to him if he lost the suit IMO

If MD didn't go back, the US would go get her. I'm sure of that. This is a big time shooting here. She knew that. She had no choice but to come back. JMO

What really surprised me after seeing the photos of the crime scene, was the small amount of bullet casings on the floor. It is suggested that between 3,000 and 4,000 rounds were fired at the people in the concert area. Where are all the thousands of rounds worth of spent brass bullet casings? The carpet should be covered with them but the photos don't show that. Very strange.

I was watching MSNBC Sunday night, October 1st. I watched/listened to the very first reports - including the sounds of the rapid-fire gunfire.

Then later (again) hearing the audio of the shooting on all the cable news channels (including the recently released bodycam video/audio), I have zero doubt that the shooter fired thousands of rounds during those 10 or so minutes of shooting.

There is no conspiracy here. According to reports:

Officials said that 12 of the rifles found in the gunman’s suite were outfitted with bump stocks.

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/10/05/business/bump-stocks.html

Are folks suggesting that we're being lied to by the Clark County Sherriff's Department and by the FBI about the number of rounds fired?

If so, then anyone who was asleep when this heinous attack occurred - let me tell you - I heard the gunfire recorded on the victims' cell phones in the earliest news reports.

ETA: It was no lie. It was real. It was terrifying - especially to those who experienced it firsthand.

The meaningful difference is that machine guns and assault rifles are heavily regulated, and he had neither that we know of. Given there is a specific meaning for these terms, it just causes confusion and muddies the water when he actually had standard semiautomatic rifles that were modified with bump-fire devices.

packedup and leaving, what car was she driving? Same car found at his home in Reno?

The SO has not exactly been forthcoming, and have contradicted themselves a few times. While I don’t doubt total number of rounds fired, I do find some of their other claims dubious, such as 200 rounds being fired into the hallway.

Agee. If she were part of a terrorist or criminal organization they would have scooped her up and taken her away (or worse) before letting her give them up.

Wasn't the lawsuit for $100,000?

Yep that could very well be true bc I can’t find the previous source of 10k but I clearly remember thinking really 10k? He initially asked for 100k but i need to find what I read that said He settled for 10

According to the legal eagles on the various news outlets, unless MD had been charged with a crime, she could not have been extradited to the U.S.

She came back here of her own free will.

More than a half century ago, a bank robber held authorities in an armed stand-off in downtown Las Vegas until federal agents shot out the windows of his car.
Benjamin Paddock, who was later described on his FBI “Most Wanted” flier as a psychopath with suicidal tendencies, surrendered a few miles from the high-rise hotel where last weekend his oldest son became one of America’s deadliest killers.

She hasn’t been accused or convicted of a crime so it seems questionable to extradite her just to interview her in connection with this IMO.

Are you accusing the Clark County Sherriff's office of some sort of cover-up with regards to this mass shooting?

Are you also accusing the FBI of participating in some sort of cover-up?

The rampant rumors, speculation and conspiracy BS I'm seeing all over social media literally makes me nauseous.

Thank You, OkieChance - I agree wholeheartedly.

When I see what appears to be promulgation of those ridiculous conspiracy theories here, I don't hesitate to speak out.

I finally just did a temporary keyword "mute" on Twitter, which really does help weed out some the worst of it. That way I can still search for valid news and discussion, but the worst of other crap doesn't contaminate everything. Facebook, not so much. Had to log out.

It's been reported that Paddock might have had some sort of plan to escape. I can't even imagine what that would have been. He was 6'4" tall, and casinos have lots of security cameras. I just can't come up with any plausible ways he thought he might have been able to escape, without some kind of help.
